Cardinal Ridge is like camping at a good friend's home. The owners are extremely friendly and accommodating. Your name is on a board welcoming you, and the better half is there with a huge smile and a warm hug. We were luckily gifted some eggs from their chickens :) This is an adult only park which is a plus in our book. It is a small campground with 8 sites, 4 on the lower level and 4 on the higher level. There are two short, steep grades to get to upper level. We got stuck going up the second one and had to back down and try again. Good advice- get up a good head of speed and go for it! It would be nice if the steep part of the road were paved. The interior roads are gravel, and the sites are gravel/grass. The upper sites have a lots of separation and amazing mountain views. The lower sites are closer together and still have good views. Some of the sites on the lower level would require running the utilities under a motorhome to get the best view. WII FI was slow but Verizon had good coverage so we used our hotspot. Directv satellite worked fine. Water pressure was low around 30 so we used the water pump to shower, do laundry, etc. Oddly, you can hear some traffic noise from 441. Mostly a background droning with the occasional semi. (I have dog whistle ears so it may not even be noticeable to some people.) It is quiet at night though and very dark! We will definitely return. We camped at Cardinal Ridge Farm RV in a Motorhome.

More than a campground, this is an adult "retreat"! A small campground carved into a hillside with site vistas that are spectacular. The hosts are RV'ers and their approach to running this camp definitely comes from their experiences. Warm, welcoming and attentive they make you feel right at home as soon as you arrive and see your name on their chalk board. You'll get escorted to your site, set-up and before you know it the owner is there to give you a tour of their breathtaking property. Full service site (30 amp) offered privacy, peace and quiet. We had WiFi and over the air TV at certain times of the day. They have a deer refuge, do a nightly feeding and have geese and chickens. No pool or playground here but that's exactly the way this place is meant to be. Serenity now. We camped at Cardinal Ridge Farm RV in a Motorhome.

Beautiful views from our unit. Very private, very quiet, very clean, pet friendly. Lots of deer, turkeys and even ducks to view. Close to everything. Wonderful hosts, I think my husband and I made new friends. We will definitely return as often as we can. Can't say enough good things about our stay. Total agreement with prior reviews raving of Cardinal Ridge. The welcome sign began an enjoyable week of visiting with the owners and other guests. Great location with well thought out sites carved in the mountain with wonderful views. Strong, well placed utilities. Short hikes on property or quick drives to longer trails nearby. We will be back. We camped at Cardinal Ridge Farm RV in a Motorhome.

Hospitality here is indescribable. Welcome signs with our name, personal tour of private property, and the gentleman owner even let us check out his Italian car collection. Quiet, peaceful, great views, brand new gazebo for sunsets. Very dog friendly. Free laundry service. There are three secluded sites up the mountain a bit for an extra price, site 4 is the most secluded. You need a 4x4 to get you there. But honestly, if you like meeting new people, and love a hospitable visit with the owners and others RVers, the sites below are just as nice and some have even better views. Each site has nice picnic tables or metal round tables and chairs with umbrellas. (Um, hello, who has that?) The property is simply gorgeous, well maintained, with some farm animals. Domestic chickens and ducks, wild turkeys everywhere, and a deer feeding every night. Lots of great antique shops nearby. Ridiculous. We'll be back. Beautiful campground on residential property situated on a high bluff overlooking the mountains. This is a very unique place with great people and a small warm family atmosphere. The owners are wonderful and treat there guests as family. Small and quaint. Has to be one of the most enjoyable campground you will ever experience. If you stay here once, you will be back. the surrounding area is great with beautiful waterfalls to visit. Getting in and up the hill requires a motorhome or good pull vehicle. Call and ask if you have a trailer/fifth wheel as you may not be able to get to the sites. We camped at Cardinal Ridge Farm RV in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Cardinal Ridge is certainly not your typical RV Park. It is an authentic RV Retreat--very unique. We immediately knew we were in a special place when we were greeted by a "Welcome Ken and Robin" sign outside of the office. At Cardinal Ridge you are welcomed as valued guests and friends--not just as customers! Cardinal Ridge has only 7 sites, most of which are high on the side of a mountain overlooking the Smokies near Franklin, NC. Note: The road to several of these sites is quite steep--but we had no problems getting into our site. We were guided to our site, assisted in set up and then the owner returned in about 30 min. to take us on a tour of the large property on numerous trails full of beautiful sites containing park benches and great views. The owners are very knowledgeable about the area and offered many good tips of great drives along the back roads and to the many interesting small towns in the area. This was the perfect spot to spend a few days just relaxing, soaking in the beauty and hospitality and watching the deer and the wild turkeys in the area. It's no wonder that most of Cardinal Ridge's guests are return visitors. It is definitely high on our list of places we would like to return to. Tips for other Campers:

Three day trips from Cardinal Ridge are highly recommended: 1. Spend 1/2 day visiting the Foxfire campus, about 15 miles south of Cardinal Ridge--home to the famous Foxfire educational programs.

2. Visit Talulah Falls state park and hike to at least one of the overlooks.

3. Drive to Highland, NC--this is a gorgeous mountain drive to a beautiful, rather high-end old resort town that offers great restaurants and shopping.

Lots to see and do in the area. Close to Harrah's and Highlands. Nearby beautiful waterfalls and Franklin is a very unique little town. We found great Restaurants in the area. A really neat French restaurant with wonderful food in a "gas station", another steak house in a bowling alley. These are the neat attractions of a small town. Will stay here again. It is also a place where you can just rest and unwind and commune with nature.

If you want to feel like you are staying on "your own mountain" this is the RV park for you!! Beautiful views from your site. The owners live just "up the mountain" and take such good care of the facilities and sites. All areas very clean. The owners make you feel at home with special touches like flowers at your site, personalized welcome sign. We stayed in one of the lower sites which had great views of a nearby mountain ridge. Our site was close to the laundry which was clean, comfortable, and free. There are plenty of walking / hiking trails on site. The RV park is also in a great location for day trips to waterfalls, hiking, small town shopping, etc. No bathroom facilities or kid friendly amenities but those items are not things that are important to us. Restaurants, Big box store, and grocery within 15 minutes. Will definitely return. We camped at Cardinal Ridge Farm RV in a Travel Trailer.

The owner is very knowledgeable of the area and will gladly give you suggestions on the "must see" sites. We did several loops of waterfalls that are easy walks. You are close to several entrance points of Appalachian Trail (great photo op for those of us who can't hike very far). Recommend day trip to the Highlands and Clayton, GA.

We found this park in May even though we had been coming to this area for some time. All I can really say is that this place is One Fantastic RV Park. The owners and hosts are the very best in making you feel welcome and at home from the time that you drive up.

Being from central Florida, this is truly the place that we have been looking for. Quiet, cool, beautiful, great sites and excellent views are just the beginning of the amenities that you will find at this RV Park.

We have already booked our next stay in October and look forward to our return. We camped at Cardinal Ridge Farm RV in a Motorhome.

The quaint town of Dillon is a short drive. We love to eat at the Greek restaurant and peruse the shops. Sylvia is only a few miles past Dillon and has a German beer brewery. Of course, you are surrounded by National and State parks with incredible hiking.
