We've been here before, and loved the views. This time was over a holiday weekend, and we noticed how cramped the place felt. Sites were tight with little or no room for tow vehicles. Fortunately, a helpful staff person backed my rig into the site for me. Be aware that they will not reserve a specific site for you, so you never know what you'll get. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

The park is very clean and nice, mostly level sites. Cable worked well and our satellite, the pool was very clean. ATT was good, their wifi was slow. Some of the work campers in the office were rude and there were a lot of work campers that had to mow/weed wack early in the morning (8am). We wouldn't stay again since it was so expensive. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We will start with the good things. The water and water pressure is good as is the power. Cable worked fine with several channels, roads are good and all sites are gravel and pretty level. We were here as a group and even though told we would be together, we were not. The site we were on was barely big enough although we had given our length when reserving. Our slides are larger than normal, the guy assisting didn't believe us, said he would come back to measure and did! Reservations over promised and under delivered. The campground is convenient to all major attractions and sights, but all on the side of a hill, some sites with road noise. There is minimal wifi and almost no cell service. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

There are work campers here and they are awesome! The sites are clean, neat, although gravel, and pretty level. The pool and laundry room are very neat and clean and the landscaping is pretty. There is a small but beautiful water feature going into the well paved park. The camp store is stocked with rv supplies, some food items, and lots of gifts. This is a beautiful park and very big rig friendly. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Several mines nearby for gemstone mining. Several museums and lots of restaurants to choose from, as well as several grocery stores. Large gemstone shows are held here twice a year.

The campground is well kept. You could tell from the condition of the campground and talking to the staff that each camp worker took pride in what they did.

The bathrooms were very clean as well as the showers. The roads are asphalt and the sites are compacted gravel. No dirt. They have a numerous of amenities. It is only a few miles out of town and there are a number of restaurants within a few miles. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Paved streets, gravel level site. Excellent staff; Bill led me in, guided me back into the space, and made sure our awning was not going to be in a small tree. Nice pool, very clean. At 2000 ft., good view. Will be going back. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

The price I quoted is a rally rate including tax. This is one of the nicest parks we have stayed in. The meeting room is beautiful with a full kitchen and a staff which couldn't be more friendly and helpful. The terraced campsites give a lovely view of the mountains. We were on the highest tier and had good cell and wifi service. Sites are gravel and very level. We are considering Great Outdoors for a rally next year. Very nice facility and a beautiful view. So many scenic places to see in the surrounding area. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Restroom were exceptionally clean and the first place I've been to that the shower was in it's own restroom - privacy is very nice. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Very nice park with paved streets and gravel sites. Staff was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Guided you to the site and helps back in. No Pull Thru that I saw. All utilities worked great. Would love to see a fenced dog area although they had nice 'dog walks' complete with baggies and waste containers. Even a dog wash. Laundry was immaculate and fair price. Didn't use the exercise room or pool, but saw several people enjoying the pool. We hope to come back. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Not far from Franklin where there are many things to do and places to eat. Farmers market most Saturdays. Music in the square. Also can get to Highlands and Cashiers within easy distance. Roads are mountain roads which can be interesting...not sure I would want to take the motorhome on all of them. Lots of places to hike and see waterfalls in the area.

This is a beautiful park, with terraced sites on the side of the hill. The views of the Smokey Mountains are spectacular. Our site was quite level with hard packed gravel, however, some of the sites needed a fair amount of leveling blocks. The office staff was very helpful and eager to please. After registering, they have you pull around the office to a flat area to disconnect the tow vehilce. They then led us to our site and helped us park. Garbage pickup is every morning in front of your site. Cable came in very good and WiFi coverage was fine. There was an FMCA rally group there and they spoke highly of the Park staff and facilities. Although the terrain is steep, the access roads were very maneuverable with our 40' coach. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Several scenic drives in the area with waterfalls and this time of year the fall colors were just spectacular. The Hwy 23/441 road north to Silva has several steep grades of 7% and 8%. Breathtaking scenery all around the area.

We stayed in this park for two weeks during our summer vacation. This is a very clean, well run park that I would definitely use again when in the area. The owner is very friendly and his staff of work campers go out of their way to be helpful and friendly. The roads in the park are wide and easy to navigate and our site was easy to back into. There are no on-site fire pits but the office will provide a portable fire pit if you request one. There is a nice pool in the park that is heated and kept very clean, but outside of that there are not many activities if you have younger children. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We spent our annual vacation at this park to camp and motorcycle ride. We did enjoy the park and the pool. The restrooms on the upper level were kept very clean. They are private toilet and shower facilities. We used the laundry facilities also and were pleased. If I had to enter one negative it is that our campsite had afternoon sun and it was very hot. If we had been on the other side of the road we would have rated it a 10. Beautiful park. I would go back! We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This is a beautifully landscaped park with super helpful camp workers and pristine individual bathrooms. When making a reservation, just ask for a satellite-friendly site and they will be happy to accommodate you (most sites will qualify). The park is only a couple of miles northeast of downtown Franklin which has plenty of restaurants, shopping, Walmart, etc. This is our first time here, but we will definitely return. We love Franklin and this rv park. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Don't miss Caffe Rel, a wonderful café attached to the Hot Spot gas station. From the outside you would NEVER expect the high quality of food and service inside. The chef/owner formerly worked in New Orleans and everything is fantastic. Try the shrimp and grits--you won't regret it.

The pictures on their website are a little out of date. The campground has many more and taller trees than depicted. The pool is surrounded by trees, there are tables and chairs with umbrellas so there is a lot of shade around the pool, but also plenty of sun. The pool was very nice and the temperature couldn't have been better. The views are spectacular. The bathrooms are probably the best I've had the opportunity to have in an RV campground. Each bathroom is a "private room" with a toilet, sink, and shower. One of the bathrooms has a very large shower stall with 2 shower heads. Perfect for adults and small children. A whole family can shower at once. The bathrooms were modernized, clean, and spacious with plenty of hooks for towels, etc. (not enough hooks is a pet peeve of mine). We were in campsite 64. It is a very long campsite and plenty wide enough. The only complaint I have is that the trees around our campsite are newer and haven't had a chance to supply shade. My husband and I would definitely come again. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Resort in a Motorhome.
