We just stayed for one night for our first trip. Close to home. It was so relaxing and peaceful. It was clean with great sites. Totally loved it. A hidden , remote, quiet area. Didn't want to leave. We will definitely be back. Only drawback. Scary, narrow road driving in. Wouldn't want to meet another RV. - Jim and Tina

Love the space of this park. Overall look is beautiful with most sites situated to view the pond. Pros: Utilities are great with plenty of wifi power and bandwidth. Roomy level sites with patio and tables in good shape. Easy access even for big rigs with security gate. The friendliest folk you could ever ask for as park hosts. Cons: vehicle placard is the size of notebook paper and they want it hanging up in your car, very much a safety issue. dumpster is located outside the park area on entry road and not convenient for those sites located in back part of park. Should consider once a days trash pick up service to that area. Finally, due to the low level of this area, there is always standing water near by and the sweat bees, horse flies and dragon flies prevented us from going outside except to get into our car. Any other time we were attacked and bitten many times. This is not a controllable factor for the park but does effect my ability to enjoy my stay or recommend it as a summer place to camp. Having tried several repellents to no avail, I would only venture here again in cool/cold weather. - Peppercatt

A hidden GEM. A little out of the way but quite, large sites, well maintained, and gated. Easy hook ups with cable. WiFi throughout the park and very strong. Private fishing lake on campground, no license needed. I have played on golf courses that were not as groomed as this place. We will definitely be back. - parduelay
Jul 2016 - $52.00
Had a great experience last weekend, got a 50 AMP full hookup for a Friday-Monday stay. Awesome sunrise views with water and some beautiful wooded areas. Fished from bulkhead with little success due to the heat and time of day but we enjoyed the quiet relaxed atmosphere. Nice open areas to explore or walking the dog. The folks there are great, the campgrounds are well groomed, trash removal pickup close to sites. We were not on the waterfront but had a site on the pull through center section but still could enjoy the water view from there. We live in Virginia Beach just so it's in easy striking distance and we will be back! - BenelliTactical

We stayed here for 3 days. While I have read other reviews saying the people are rude or that this place is like "Deliverance." It is very far from that. The people here were very nice and while it is out in the middle of nowhere, the whole area is beach country. There may not be a whole lot of town nearby, but even down near Kitty Hawk you will only find cheap surf shops and only expensive shopping: no Target, Old Navy, or such places for miles. Back to the campground. It was very clean, well cared for, and felt safe and homey. My husband works on the road so our travel is not leisure and his hours are sometimes late. This place locks its gates up at 11 with no way of getting in or out, which I am not a fan of. I do not like to be locked inside of anywhere. I have a toddler and baby on the way which means if something were to go wrong in the night I would have to take time to hunt someone and a key down, before dealing with any emergency. So very inconvenient and inconsiderate on their part. Although they did work with us and finally found a spare key for hubby to use. I also have a slight problem with there being no shade or trees of some kind around the playground for the children. My 3 year old actually stopped playing after 30 minutes and told me she was too hot and it was too bright. Not typical of a child when there is such a large play area. Also only two washers and dryers in a very small room. Bathrooms and showers were clean though and store had quite a variety. Also it is summertime and most of the temporary visit spots have no shade either, so one can imagine how hot a trailer gets. We were asked (for the first time ever) if we had ac and if we were going to use it. Uh duh: who would not use their ac in this kind of heat? Not happy with the $10 a day extra charge for that. Also, they had no knowledge of fishing permits and no free fishing. Most campgrounds I have been to, are private property which means a license is not needed. Would only stay here again if we came to the area for work. My idea of a beach vacation is more along the lines of Myrtle Beach where places stay open past 9pm. - Moonscoop

Take a Circuit Checker with you. Found a couple of camp sites that was wired wrong. Possibly could fry your camper. The sewer connections were broken in all the campsites I checked. The bathrooms are worse than filthy. Urinals were in front of a screen door. People walking by could see everything. Toilet stalls had no latches on the doors and would not stay closed. The floors were wet with what looked and smelled like an over flow toilet. The showers had so much mold on them the glass looked like it was painted white. Nothing to do there. No pool no nothing. Full timers did not clean up after their dogs. Had 'presents' left at my campsite more than once. As a firefighter, I've been in several 'ghetto' homes and few were as bad as this campground. I thought the place looked like the movie 'Deliverance' was filmed there. I'm glad I've had my Hep-B immunization done before going there. NEVER AGAIN! - Itasca
Jun 2018 - $40.00
Small RV park out from town. I think it's a hidden gem. It's drive able to spend the day on the outer banks. There are several full time retirees, but one of the quietest, cleanest parks I've been to. Would have been rated a 10, but no pool or WiFi. Owner only takes cash. - Diana O

Dec 2017 - $20.00
Small campground on a quiet base (some aircraft noise, which we say is the sound of freedom). Nice level sites with full hookups. No problem for our 42.5' 5th to fit. Laundry facility a short drive away near some mobile homes on base. View of the water in the near distance. Well maintained, secure. Be careful, as our GPS took us right by the entrance. Beach within walking distance. Small BX, gas station. Great spacing between RVs, and no one behind us (only two rows of RVs). Would definitely return. - RVerFamily
Mar 2018 - $50.00
The man that checked us in was very helpful and friendly. The sites are extremely close together. There is hardly any room to sit outside of your site without sitting under your neighbor's slide. At least it was cold when we were there and didn't spend a lot of time outside anyway. The majority of the park looks like fulltime residents, with only a few campsites available for others. The location is great for visiting the Kitty Hawk area, I just wish they would give you some more room at the campsites. Verizon and AT&T worked well. - Love2Camp777
Dec 2017 - $50.00
Staff really was over the top helpful with getting me set up an making sure we were taken care of. We actually extended our stay at a whim and he ensured we were good to go. We will be back. - Keith Goins
Sep 2016 - $60.00
I gave it a rating of 4 because of the lack of bathrooms and the postage sized sites, but we were right next to the beach! When I say postage sized sites, I mean our camper barely fit with the slides out. The neighbors parked their car in front of my picnic table because they didn't have room, so I had to partially block the next site over with my truck. The caretaker is extremely nice, (helps you back in the camper and makes sure you have everything you need). We were on site #3, and were literally 100 yds from the beach. Cross Rt12, and you're there. We went down for my friend's wedding in Duck, 8 miles North, and pretty much only slept at the camper. I had never been to the Outer Banks before and enjoyed the stay. If it weren't for the beach being so close, I would have not liked it. I do have to say that it is a very quiet and very clean campground. It was nice walking the beach on your way back to the camper to help digest. The surf was up, and playing in the waves is always fun. The beach is dog friendly, and they had a blast too... Just clean up after them, PLEASE. If all you want is a place to sleep, then this is the place to go!
Lastly, bring Windex and extra paper towels... You will need them to clean the salt off your windows and mirrors when you leave. Yes, we were that close to the beach... - Bob Mac
Nov 2018 - $50.00
This campground is located conveniently within the Kitty Hawk area. The road leading to the campground could use some attention but keep your speed down and you’ll have no issues.
Once inside the the campground the roads are well maintained and easy to navigate.
In general, the campground’s facilities are really good. The owners of this campground obviously take pride in their facilities and keeping appearances up.
The bath house was clean and good working order. We found all the staff to be friendly and helpful.
This facility is a do over again for us. - Pigcrib
Oct 2018 - $70.00
DH, dog and I spent 4 days here towards the end of October. We had been scheduled to arrive about 10 days prior, but due to the hurricane, we rescheduled. (The office had given us a call and told us we would need to reschedule. We appreciated the proactive initiative they took by reaching out to us.) We had a back-in spot and really liked it. As previously stated by others, the spaces are quite large. Each spot has a picnic table and something that I'd never seen before, the hook-up sites had the space # on it and were lit which was great for adding a bit of light to the otherwise dark campground. We were there from a Monday - Friday and the park wasn't full - which we enjoyed. The showers/bathrooms were fairly well maintained. The shower space was pretty typical in that you had the shower with a chair just outside of it, but within a curtained off space so you could dress in private. Of note, however, the water pressure wasn't great. Use a modest amount of shampoo or you won't get it all rinsed out. Upon arrival, the guy that maintains the lawn was mowing all over the place, including part of our space. While happy to have the lawn mowed, it did wake up a bunch of gnats that came our way. The following day, we sat outside to read and enjoy the weather and he was back again mowing. We couldn't detect any grass of length that required it, but I guess he thought it did. The noise wasn't great and it lasted about an hour it seemed like, but we survived. All in all we were quite pleased with the campground and in fact have reserved for next May. If you've got kids or require lots of activities within the park, then this probably isn't the place for you. It doesn't have a lot of amenities. - IndysMa
Aug 2018 - $57.00
This park sits right on the Albemarle Sound on the west side of the main thoroughfare - Highway 158. It's a few miles off the beaten path and down a residential gravel road. What a pleasant surprise upon our arrival! The immaculately mowed park features acres of green grass and all back in sites. The sites are HUGE - so even terrible backers (US!) have no problem maneuvering into these sites. Our site backed up to the sound and we had nice views of kayakers, paddle boarders and jet skiers enjoying themselves on the sound. The sites are gravel pads with picnic tables. If you don't need a pool or clubhouse and like plenty of elbow room - you will LOVE this park! - jjones5996
Apr 2017 - $45.00
Camp "resort" is a bit of a stretch. The bathhouse was disgusting. The views were spectacular! You could tell the campground was really something at one point but hasn't been maintained as such. It was a quiet park with a small playground for the kids. The camp store had a lot of out of date food items, so be sure to check dates. Fishing pier was closed off due to damage. Not somewhere we would camp again but was not a terrible experience. The staff was friendly and our site hook ups worked just fine. For the cost per night, we would stay somewhere with cleaner facilities and more amenities. - Lilwolfpup
Jul 2015 - $39.00
Way out of the way and very quiet on the North Landing River. Beautiful view of the river with a long boat dock and swimming beach. Huge lots and plenty of room to park and set up. Happy they have a well-stocked camp store because there is NO major grocery stores within 15 miles. Suggest that you stop and shop on the way in. - VietVet
Jun 2012 - $34.00
A lovely resort. The sites were large, shaded and fairly level. We were about 100 yards from the water. There is a pier and boat launch side by side for registered campers to use plus a beachfront at another spot close by. There is a store also on site that met our needs. This resort had several seasonals located here. The only bad complaint I have was it was so far removed far everywhere. If you like low-keyed and private environment this place is for you. - kenbarbie

We were pleasantly surprised by this park, which is in the middle of nowhere, and on the border of North Carolina. You will find all types of camping here, and the park has a nice store, laundry, and clean bath facilities, as well as WiFi. Very friendly staff. If you need supplies, it's a short drive north to civilization. Along that two-lane road going north is Bonney's seafood market--we called a day ahead and missed out on the steamed crabs, though we did take a day trip into North Carolina to satisfy our seafood cravings. We chose a back-in site on one of the canals, and next time we will get a pull-through space in the middle of the park, which is shaded. It was hot! Our spot had no shade, so it was unbearable to sit outside in the afternoon, but the evenings were pleasant, and the views were beautiful. Lots of activities for the family. - RosieM
May 2018 - $58.00
Very nice campground. The new owners have really put in a lot of amenities and the maintenance is very good. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. We are normally state park campers so the sites were a little close for us but I don't think they were bad at all for a commercial campground. Friends stayed in a studio cottage and were very happy with it. Campground was about 1/2 full during a May weekend and was surprisingly quiet. I'm sure it would be louder when full. Lots of activities for the kids; definitely a family place. We will definitely return when we are looking for a fun place to camp with friends and family. - Cusack1020
Sep 2017 - $70.00
WOW! The owners and managers have invested a lot of time and effort into upgrading this park. The power pedestals are all new and easy to see. The bathhouses are all nice, clean and new. Even on a BUSY weekend when every site was filled the bathhouses and other facilities were clean. They had lots to do for kids and adults. The staff that they hired are all super friendly and helpful. - ETCTA
