Friendly staff. Gravel roads and sites, but maneuvering is a challenge and had to use blocks to get level. Good voltage, water pressure, Wifi & utility layout. A country setting. Few amenities. We camped at Cross Winds Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice, family owned campground about 2 miles from I-85. Take exit 84. Lots of trees, level gravel lots. Propane, pool and fishing lake. Trash cans at every site. We camped at Cross Winds Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Small, clean friendly. Nice shaded sites. There are different loops: the A loop has pull-through sites and is shady. The B loop is back in, but the sites are angled in such a way that you can pull up to the site opposite, straighten out and back right in. The C loop is near the pool, office, restrooms and laundry and is mostly sunny. The D loop is mostly shady but was being expanded as of April 2018 so there is some construction at the far end. Each site has a covered garbage can at its entrance which is changed daily. Easy check-in and very friendly staff. If you're traveling on I-85 and need a good, clean place to overnight or if you're in the Lexington / Salisbury area to visit, this is the place to stay. Bathrooms are immaculate, and I wish every campground had these showers: separate changing area with three hooks for hanging clothes, a bench to sit on, and handheld shower heads! Nice playground for the kids and a fishing pond. The campground is close to I-85 but the traffic noise was not bad, even if you're tent/popup camping. We camped at Cross Winds Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

If you have kids, I would recommend visiting Dan Nicholas Park (about 10 minutes away). It has an amazing playground, kid size railroad, splash pad, paddleboats and fishing hiking, a carousel, gem mine and an aquarium / nature center.

Nice campground, very nice owners. Cash only and you must pay in advance. Swimming pool and area for children to play. Not to far off freeway no traffic noise. Sites and road are gravel our site was fairly level. They have cable tv. If you want to set up a dish mention this, only a few front row sites can accommodate this. I did find it a bit expensive. We camped at Cross Winds Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

The nicest lady in the world checked us in. I believe she was the owner. We were visiting family in the area. Since it was a distance to their house from the campground, we probably won't stay again, but only for that reason. Grandkids loved the playground. Our pull-thru site was very convenient, and easy to pull into and out of. We bought firewood (a nice-sized bundle for $5) and enjoyed the fire ring. The park is close to I-85, meaning we did hear road noise, but the convenience was also nice. Except for the distance from our relatives' home, we would definitely return. It was clean and very well-maintained. We camped at Cross Winds Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed for 3 nights while visiting friends in Thomasville and attending the North Carolina Renaissance Fair. Campground is easy access from I-85. Sites all appear to be well maintained and some the most level I have seen. Staff was courteous and friendly. Electric/water/sewer all worked well. No shade on the pull through sites up front, but the rest of the park looked to be mostly shaded. Free secure Wi-Fi worked very well, though it did slow during peak usage times. We camped at Cross Winds Family Campground in a Motorhome.

The grounds are very well maintained including the restrooms. Sites are large and private but not level. Had to drive up on leveling blocks to keep the back coach tires from being suspended in air after lowering the levelers. Probably wouldn't have this issue with a trailer. I-85 very close and can hear it day and night, but didn't bother us. Very good water pressure. Very nice owners and other campers. Some "long" term campers but their sites don't give you the impression that they "live" there like some other campgrounds allow. Nice trails within the campground that lead to the lake. No camp store on premise so be sure you have what you need or you'll be driving at least 4 miles to the closest store. This campground is meant for R&R and to visit local attractions as not much to do on site other than the trails. Nice that Sunday checkout is 4pm!! This is an awesome perk!! We will certainly return!! We camped at Cross Winds Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice park just a short hop off I-85. Not much around in the area. Salisbury is about 15 miles down the road. Lots of good restaurants and shopping. Well-maintained gravel roads and sites. Lots of space between sites with trees and shrubbery separating most sites. Sites not completely level, but leveling jacks handled it well. Very clean and well maintained restrooms and showers. Certainly a good spot to stay if you are through the area. We camped at Cross Winds Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice RV park/campground just north of Salisbury. Easy on/off I85 but not so near interstate to be noisy. Both shaded and open sites. Sites in open are pull thru and mostly level. Seems well maintained. Trash can at every site. Seems to be a few permanent residents but they are in the wooded area and the open area with pull thru sites were mostly empty when we were there during the week. We camped at Cross Winds Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice quiet park even though it's just off highway 85. Interior roads are mainly gravel but wide. Many pull through sites. Site are large width and length wise. Fire pits, picnic tables, open air and tree covered sites. Has a catch and release fish pond (no swimming). Small in ground pool. We camped at Cross Winds Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We visited Cross Winds at the suggestion of family and friends and had a great time! We arrived at night and found it a bit tough to back in and get level due to low spots on the site that we couldn't see well in the dark. The site we were on (at the end of row B) was very wooded and private. My parents stayed in the site next to us and we enjoyed hiking through the trees woods to go visit them. We have already booked another trip next month. Trash cans at each site and the hookup locations were convenient for us. We are looking forward to trying out the new section that is currently being constructed. Looking forward to returning soon! We camped at Cross Winds Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Weekend get away. Was very pleased. It does have some highway noise, but it did not bother me. The full hookup with cable and Wifi was great. Watched on the internet and continuously expanding. So this park can only get even better over time. Very friendly park and convenient to most everything.

All in all a great place to stay. We camped at Cross Winds Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We went to the renaissance festival near Charlotte about 30 miles away. This park had a very nice playground and pool bit we were out of season for that. Dan Nichols park about 8 miles away. Great place to take kids and in my case grandkids. Spencer Transportation just about 7 miles down the same road. Before you get the museum don't miss out on Hendrix BBQ on the way to Spencer. Salisbury has a couple of theaters if you like the performing arts.

Stayed for 3 nights in Oct 2016. I was with my family, brother family and co-worker friend family and we enjoyed the stay. Park it is a little dark for walking at night, but is safe. Full hook-up and the trash is picked up daily at each campsite. Campground is very clean and well maintained.

My brother had some difficulties to level his fifth wheel due to site surface inclination. If you have a long trailer we suggest to use the B-2 site. But in general it is an amazing campground!

Wonderful place to camp. Staff "owners" was very friendly, helpful and share our passion for airplanes. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others. Thumbs up. We camped at Cross Winds Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.
