Persimmon Creek is a small campground that accommodates maybe 8 RVs and has about as many tent sites, located ~10 miles west of Murphy, NC, right along US74/64. It is a beautiful campground with a couple of small ponds, one of which is a trout pond. The owners are always available, helpful, and friendly. We landed here the day before the start of the Memorial Day weekend and the campground was full over the weekend, with kids riding the road circuit on their bikes almost from sunup to sundown, having a terrific time. Things quieted down considerably after the holiday weekend, so for the 2 weeks we were there, there was generally a lot of empty spaces. It's a lovely place and we'd recommend it to anyone wanting to get away.

On the less positive side, occasionally there was a surprising amount of highway noise, especially herds of motorcycles and trucks, and for AT&T and T-Mobile cell phone users there was no signal whatsoever. The campground WiFi was very weak, but generally usable. As fulltimers, we're not likely to return as it's a little too remote, but for those who want to spend a short time in a lovely place, this is definietly one to consider. We camped at Persimmon Creek Campground in a Motorhome.

Third time camping at Persimmon Creek but first time in a camper. Full hookups and electricity at each campsite plus there are also nice restrooms and showers. Very relaxing campground. Large sites with firerings at each site. Free Wifi. The tent camping sites are very large and well spaced. Some have water and electric. We camped at Persimmon Creek Campground in a Travel Trailer.

As others have said, it is a lovely setting. The RV sites all face the small pond that is the central feature of the campground. We stayed in site 7. This is the first time we have not been able to get level in over a year. We got close enough to live with it, but not level. The owners said that more gravel to address the problem "is on the list", but he seemed vague about when that would be done. There are about 10 RV sites in the campground, the rest are tent sites.

More road noise than I expected. Highway 74 is a busy road. WIFI is erratic. When I could get signed in it was good, but getting a connection was frustrating at times. No AT&T at all; owners said Verizon works. No cable. We camped at Persimmon Creek Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Shopping is in Murphy, 12 miles away. The Downtown Bakery in Murphy makes great sandwiches on their own bread at very reasonable prices. Ingles Supermarket is the place to shop for food, wine and beer.

Bought fresh eggs and shitaki mushrooms at campground's farm stand: yum.

The owners are fabulous! They raise chickens and you can buy fresh eggs. They also have a fishing pond which we didn't use. The campground is small but very lovely. Campsites are oriented around a pond. We have stayed here twice in a 40ft RV. Sites are back in and a bit tight, but not because of closeness to your neighbor. Lots of trees. Needed to use blocks for leveling. Having said that, our 4 slide RV fit well and satellite TV worked just fine. Didn't use the WIFI as our Verizon card worked just fine. Access from the highway is good as long as you go slow. Signage is there but is pretty understated. Great place to use as a home base for exploring the area. Will definitely stay here again. We have stayed in a lot of campgrounds in the US and Europe, and Persimmon Creek Campground in Murphy, NC is one of the very best. The entire campground sits along a beautiful creek where you can pan for gold, or you can go to the center of the campground and use one of the free bamboo fishing rigs to catch a fish almost every time you cast.

The grounds are flat and perfectly manicured; bare feet are welcome here! Power, water and sewer systems work perfectly with no fluctuations. You can buy fresh eggs and other goodies directly from the owner's farm, and if you need a hand with anything the caretakers are always full of useful information and excellent conversation. We strongly recommend this campground whether you're in a tent, a pop-up or a 40' Class A.

As a side note, there is a lot to do in the area if you are an outdoors enthusiast.

We LOVED Persimmon! We camped at Persimmon Creek Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We enjoyed this campground, simple, quiet and very nice owners. Access is a narrow road but we were able to get in with a 38 ft RV and a tow car. Site had 50 amp & sewer and was relatively level. Park has a nice setting with a stream. Easy access to Murphy and several scenic byways, Hiwassee Lake, Dragons Tail, Nantahala Gorge We camped at Persimmon Creek Campground in a Motorhome.

We did not stay in this campground but checked it out carefully for friends who will be visiting in October with a motorhome and 5th Wheel. We have a Travel Trailer so I evaluated it on that basis. It appears to be a clean, well-kept little campground beside US 64 between Murphy, NC and Ducktown, TN. There is a grassy area beside a stream and a small pond right in the middle of the campground. Bathhouse was new and clean albeit small. The access road is gravel but appeared to have enough clearance for our rig. The sites were grass and might require some leveling. There were a lot of tents with kayakers and bicyclist, and a few medium sized RV's. If we were looking for a campsite, I would not have hesitated to stay there. It didn't appear to rate a 10, but seemed to be a nice little campground. We camped at Persimmon Creek Campground in a Travel Trailer.
