This parking-lot-style campground has spacious 3 way sites for only $30 a night. Very quiet and nice landscaping. Good wifi. Not THAT hard to find, just follow the directions on the website. We camped at North Carolina State Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a large parking area (a few thru the fair grounds) with full hook ups. No cable but the over the air channels come in ok. Open so Dish worked well. Grassy with gravel not so level sites. Nicely landscaped for a fair show grounds. The horse complex is attached so interesting to go see what is going on and there is often something at the facility. It is closed for the entire month of October though for the fair carney guys. You just come in and find a hookup and then call a number to pay or they will find you at some point. You cannot reserve a spot. Plenty of spaces though even at a big horse show there were still plenty of openings. Easy to navigate and a dump station as well if you wanted to not hook up and just park in the horse lot over night. Easy on and off the highway near 440 and wade avenue (1). Plenty of stuff to do in the area. It is at the NC State arena though so football season and sat was interesting. Lots of people camp out Friday night and Saturday. Verizon works well and they have a wifi that is ok at best. We camped at North Carolina State Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Very convenient to everything in Raleigh. We have stayed here many, many times. Nothing fancy but a quiet full hookup spot that is not in a parking lot as many fairground spots are around the country. There are a few different sections with the one behind the horse barns being the newest. Bathrooms and showers are inside the fairground area. We camped at North Carolina State Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

This is our second stay here; we were here last June as well. Price hasn't changed, so good value for a nightly rate (downside is that there is no discount if you stay weekly/monthly, so $900/month isn't a great deal). Security guards are super nice. We were here a month this time, and one of the security guys loaned us a weed eater because the landscape crew won't get right around the rig (liability issue). There was a horse show one weekend, and I will stay during a show again. For the most part, dogs were allowed to run around unleashed and the amount of dog poop left everywhere was disgusting. Thankfully the landscape crew did a great job of cleaning after the horse trailers were all gone. So it's convenient for everything we need, but don't expect more than a grass/gravel parking lot. It's no frills, but we'd stay again if in the area. We camped at North Carolina State Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

A good no frills place to stay while attending special events at the fair grounds or the horse arena. Helpful staff. Open space for satellite reception. Adequate wifi. Pleasant stay while we toured the Raleigh area. We camped at North Carolina State Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Level, clean, good wifi, good water pressure, easy in/out. Address is deceiving; look for the horse complex. Campground will be behind it. This is a no frills campground, No restrooms, no table, no fire ring. Full hook-up All back-in. No reservation taken. ( 200 sites ). We camped at North Carolina State Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

The Park was a pleasant surprise. The RV campground is very basic, a full hook up on a gravel grass spot. Not a problem to get to or back into a spot. There are trees, but mostly open. It was quiet and nice for our stay at the horse show on the grounds. No bathrooms here at RV campsite, no fire ring or picnic tables. We camped at North Carolina State Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

What a great find! Extra large back in spaces with full hookups. No wifi or cable, but we picked up many local TV channels with our antenna. Great Verizon signal so no wifi was ok. Park staff were friendly and professional. Security came by regularly. They were preparing for the state fair so the area was freshly landscaped and everything looked great. We will stay here again for sure. We camped at North Carolina State Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

We stay frequently at the State Fairgrounds Campground in Raleigh. Our child is a student at North Carolina State. The campground is directly across from Carter-Finley Stadium & PNC Arena. True, there are no bath houses or restrooms, but each site has water, electric & sewer hookups. The grounds are cleaned daily & the utilities are inspected every other day. Security makes rounds throughout the day & night. A busy horse show venue for North Carolina Horseman is located adjacent to the campground & the shows are easily visible from the campground. It is a great place to rest & relax before NC State football or basketball games. Also, very nice to camp there when concerts are at PNC. We camped at North Carolina State Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

We needed a place close to RDU airport. We weren't expecting much, but ended up enjoying our time there. According to their website, the max stay is 14 days, but if they have openings, they'll let you stay (we were there a month). Someone mentioned that the gravel made for lots of dust, but they had a water truck that went through every day of our stay. FHU at $30/day was very reasonable, especially as I ran two A/Cs non stop. We camped at North Carolina State Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

The fairgrounds have about 100 sites, all back-in with full hook-ups. The campground seems to have a mild crest in the middle that gradually slopes on either side. We used site 69 (in our 42 ft coach) which seemed to drain well when it rained. The only negative I can find is that the crushed gravel lanes can create a little bit of dust from cars, etc. in dry weather. The best part about the campground is the closeness & convenience to downtown Raleigh & Cary. We camped at North Carolina State Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Our "go to" place in Raleigh - spacious sites, great service. There are no amenities, such as bathhouse, picnic tables, or fire rings, but the free WiFi works pretty well. $30 for a FHU seems fair. We camped at North Carolina State Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

We selected the NC State Fairgrounds campground because it is less than 20 minutes to the Raleigh-Durham airport. This campground is really set up for people that take RVs to shows, farmer's markets, equestrian events and other types of activities surrounding the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. The grounds we saw were nicely landscaped, but they had no amenities that we saw. Calling them just as we got there permitted the security guard to meet us and guide us through the myraid roads in the fairgrounds. They have multiple RV parking locations, each set up for different purposes. We were just passing through, staying one night, so we ended up quite a ways from any of the venues, which was certainly okay with us. Once we knew where we were, getting in and out of the fairgrounds was easy. The site was large and level with gravel, no shade, and we had full hookups but that was about the limit to the amenities. (If there was free Wi-Fi, we were unaware of it so didn't try it. Verizon was excellent.) Once you've been, finding it is very easy, but the first time required having the guard show you a site. For a one-night stopover, this is a very good place to stay. We camped at North Carolina State Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Not too far away is an excellent pizza place called Pieology, and on the way back we saw and stopped at a Ben & Jerry's. Being in suburban Raleigh, there are many stores and entertainment fairly close-by.

Nice back in sites. Very little shade. Quiet, clean. No tables or fire pits. Pick your own site and the ranger will be by to settle up and give you the rules. Plenty of room between sites. Easy to get into once you find the entrance. We camped at North Carolina State Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Campsite is for self contained rvs only w 101 full hookups. Clean and level parking on gravel w nice grass on both sides. Campsite is part of State Fairgrounds and close to all activities in Raleigh area. We are here now for Holiday and we will come back anytime we want to be nearby.

That said, campsite is hard to find and directions off website are not specific. I will be so now. Area is part of Horse Shows for NC Fairgrounds. A real jewel at the price for full 30/50 amp sites IF you can find it . We camped at North Carolina State Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Anything to do with NC State Univ that is adjacent to NC Fairgrounds. NCS Football Stadium is 1000 yds from Campground. Excellent shopping is off any exit of I 44o Beltway around city of Raleigh.

Campground is very hard to find in the dark of night, so arrive in daytime. From I 40 W get off exit #289/ Wade Ave and come to exit Edwards Mill Rd. Exit there South 2 miles to Trinity Ave. Left on Trinity Ave up the hill 2 miles to right turn on Youth Center Drive to Gate H7 into Campground entrance .

We are here in a 42' MotorCoach w 4 slideouts. Plenty of room and well worth the effort to find it. Enjoy !!!
