Very enjoyable park. The site we had was very huge and very easy to get into. The only reason I have lowered my score was due to the dogwood tree that was right in front of camper. I could not put my patio mat out or my awning. The kids enjoyed the park that is on the other side. It has a nice train, merry go round, zoo, petting zoo and water fountain that the kids played in. We camped at Dan Nicholas Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The park staff was friendly and helpful. We had a large wooded site next to the lake. The nature center is just across the lake, and is an added bonus. Can't wait to go back with the bicycles in the spring. We camped at Dan Nicholas Park in a Travel Trailer.

This park is a gem. The campground is in a nicely wooded section with plenty of space between the sites. The staff did a great job keeping it clean on a busy weekend. There is a great trail around the lake - a very nice walk to enjoy the surroundings. The other areas of the park are close by and can be reached via the lake trail. This is a great place to spend a few days enjoying the campground and the rest of the park. We camped at Dan Nicholas Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We camped here in April, two families with 3 kids, and everyone had a wonderful time. Plenty of paved park roads to ride your bike or just take a walk. The park is very well taken care of. We go to Dan Nicholas CG at least twice a year. We go in the Spring and again in the fall. All the campers are very friendly, never had a problem. Bathhouses very clean. Since they don't have full hook up the kids love to go to the bathhouse, they think that's wonderful. Will return again. We camped at Dan Nicholas Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is one of our favorite weekend campgrounds. The roads into the campground are paved. The camp sites are rustic but okay if you use mats to keep from tracking in dirt. It's a good place to relax and ride backs. There's a lot for small kids to do in the small park just across the lake from the campground. And the campground is just a few miles from High Rock Lake as well. We camped at Dan Nicholas Park in a Motorhome.

This was our second stay here. This park is a hidden gem that most people that live with in an hour of, do not know about. It has activities for all ages. We had a site on the lake and it was so nice watching the ducks and geese on the water. The activities for the children are second to none, train, carrousel, gem mine, mini golf, playgrounds, petting zoo, bike trail, wildlife area, hiking, pedal boats and for Easter they had an age group specific easter egg hunt. The park is well run and very organized. The only things that keeps this park from a ten for us, is very little cell phone service, and no real swimming area during the warmer months. They do have a splash park. We will definitely be back here many more times We camped at Dan Nicholas Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Easy access park and campground off I-85, only 5 or 6 miles. Very nice, large site sizes and shady sites. Lots of trees but no problem for big rigs on most sites. Fifty or sixty or so of the sites are big rig friendly and most sites or level enough. Staff very helpful, but not much security since park was almost empty. The only things missing in this campground are sewer hookups, WiFi, and cable. Dump station access takes some maneuvering but is doable. The park has many family entertainment amenities for use by the public as well as campers. Great place to take your family for outdoor entertainment. We look forward to our next visit. We camped at Dan Nicholas Park in a Motorhome.

We were very pleased with this park. The sites were large and easy to get into. The park itself is very large and has many activities for both children and adults. Tennis, horseshoes, mini golf, two zoos, one for observing and one for petting, gem mine, carrousel, and a train ride to name a few. It was a nice place to ride bikes as well. They have a nice lake for fishing even though the water level was way down due to the drought in the area. The only negatives in this park is they have no swimming area for the warmer months and the dump station is not in the best location in the park. Depending on the site you are in you may have to make a few extra side road turns to get the dump on the correct side of your rig. This park is very close to High Rock Lake as well as Historic Salisbury and the old NC train town of Spencer. We did not get to explore much outside the park as we were kept entertained with all the things to do in the park. We will definitely go here again in the future. We camped at Dan Nicholas Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

The sites at this park are very large, shaded and well spaced. A number of the rv sites were sloped especially around the lake; pads could have been leveled better and had more gravel base. Lots to do at this park for kids. The park was well maintained, clean and quiet. This is a good centrally located park to visit a number of the NASCAR garages, museums, etc. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Dan Nicholas Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We spent three nights at this park while traveling to the NC coast. The sites are quite large, very wooded, and rather private. The campground was busy during our stay but was still quiet. The bath houses were old and only two showers but they were always clean. The only thing lacking at this campground is sewer hookups. We would stay here again if we are in the area. We camped at Dan Nicholas Park in a Motorhome.

We live about 5 miles from CG. We stay here several time a year, just to get away. Bought new fifth wheel so we took it to Dan Nicholas to make sure everything worked right before longer trip. They have upgraded to 50 amps on each site. We stayed in #28, back in next to lake. Great CG. Wooded sites, paved roads and grave sites. Sewer is at dump station. Water and electric is available. Great place to go. Would recommend. Park has much to do, train ride, ferris wheel, petting barn, paddle boats and fishing. Fees apply ($1 or $2). We camped at Dan Nicholas Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is a very nice campground in a county park that includes a lake, petting zoo, train ride, ballfields and many other amenities, but the campground is in a very quiet area isolated from those things, except the lake. We were there at a very slow time of year, and we had our pick of sites. In fact, the staff allowed us to go set up in a site and then come back to the office and let them know which one we picked. There were only five or six other campers there. All of the sites were nicely wooded. Some, including ours, were pull-throughs. Most seemed to have tables and fire rings. Most had water and electric. None had sewer. All the roadways seemed newly paved, and it appeared that more sites were being developed. It was just a very nice, quiet camping experience in the woods. Just what we were looking for. We camped at Dan Nicholas Park in a Travel Trailer.

We rang in the New Year at Dan Nichols park and can't say enough good things about this campground. The sites are HUGE, the restrooms are clean and the staff is very helpful. The lake is beautiful and the amusement park is a lot of fun for the kids. We highly recommend this park! We camped at Dan Nicholas Park in a Travel Trailer.
