This is a place to overnight before taking the Cedar Island Ferry to Cape Hatteras, or if you're a fanatic fisherman. It is not a resort: the pool is closed permanently and any other amenities that may have existed in the past (batting cage, etc.) are no longer in service. About half of the park is occupied seasonally/permanently by older units apparently used by weekend fishers. It has a boat launch and dockside gasoline ($3.30/gal in April 2016). Mosquito season was well underway at the end of April with spraying by the county predicted to happen soon. The owners are a charming and helpful couple who have lived on the site for 40 years. Reservations are highly recommended for the Cedar Island Ferry as is arrival an hour or so before departure. Reservations are cancelled 30 minutes before departure. Our trip at 10:30 a.m. on a Sunday morning was full. Loading a 40' motorhome with toad attached cost $45 but was no problem with crew guidance. The trip from the RV park was only 8 miles but took a half hour so allow enough time. We camped at Cedar Creek Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The restaurant at the ferry landing was closed permanently. We were able to buy fresh clams at a local wholesaler, Quality Seafoods. State Road 12 goes through the Cedar Island National Wildlife Refuge but there is no other public access.

When we arrived at the park we received a very warm welcome and the owner was very accommodating. The park seemed to be well maintained and the pool was very clean. It is a great place to stay if you have a boat or Kayak. The RV sites at this park are level but a little small. There are no 50 amp sites. We picked up 6 or 7 TV channels via antenna. About half of the park is made up of seasonal residents who couldn't have been friendlier. We will be back. We camped at Cedar Creek Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

Perfect location to visit all the small islands. The owners are on site and very helpful and friendly. On the day we left they were updating the power system! We will be back in the late fall for another visit. We camped at Cedar Creek Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

This was our second stay at this park. It is a good place to stay before taking the ferry to Ocracoke or if you have a boat. Other than that, there is no reason to stay here. We were warned about the smelly water when we checked in. Bring bottled water to drink and don't fill your fresh water tank. We camped at Cedar Creek Campground & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: June, 2010 - $28.00

We arrived on a Wednesday after it had rained and found the visitor camping area to be very soggy with water standing in large pools 1 - 2" deep. Many sites have older long term RV trailers on them. During the evening and the early morning, thunderstorms passed through the area and now the pools nearly surround our camper. The manager placed another RV perpendicular to ours and about 5' away behind ours because he was concerned about the RVs sinking into to wet soil. We were the only two visiting RVs in the park. The most challenging problem was the poor electrical service - even though the connection was 30 amps the voltage was all over the place - dropping below 110V with only the AC running. During cooler and dryer seasons this would be less of a problem, but we had to turn off one appliance to run another. The on-site boat ramp to the fishing waters and a plywood cleaning table also served local sport fishermen who visited. The owners were friendly; picnic tables were few, limited full hookups, duck and goose droppings added to the flavor of this remote park. Wi-Fi was $5/day. The pool was dry. We won't be back. We camped at Cedar Creek Campground & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

This is definitely not a destination park, but was sufficient for an overnight stay. The owners were great. The park amenities are older but the showers were adequate. There are a lot of RVs permanently parked here that are used by fishermen who come to the area. The peaceful serenity of the park is it's greatest feature. We would stay here again but only overnight. We camped at Cedar Creek Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

We arrived after a Tropical Storm, so the pool had been closed for the season, which was upsetting, but the pool looked to be well maintained. The tap water has a strange odor! Bring your own! Short walk to a canal with access to the Intercoastal Waterway. There is a boat ramp on site. And storage for boats away from your site. Many of the sites appear to be used by long term campers, with many up on blocks. The "office" has a pool table and a couple of older video games, as well as a camp store with a few staples and fishing gear. There is also a fish cleaning site near the boat ramp. Mosquitoes!! Locals refer to the area as "Skitter Creek", so bring repellent! Owners Mr. & Mrs. Nelson are very nice, and helpful. We camped at Cedar Creek Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.
