The wife and I just returned from a 4 night stay here ( Monday-Thursday). The state has recently converted 12 of the sites from tent sites to full hookup sites with 50/30/20amp service. The gravel parking pads on all 12 sites are long enough for any big rig, plus there is a gravel tent pad with fire ring and picnic table on each site. There is also 3 cabins that will sleep 6 with ac and heat but no cooking or inside water.

There are 30 camping sites plus the 3 cabins. All sites are shady. Streets are paved and there is a centrally located bathhouse. There are walking trails in the park, fishing in the nearby Neuse River and a 11 acre swim lake with a grass beach and swimming in season. Firewood and ice available on site and a nice visitors center.

The park entrance is locked at either 8 or 9 pm depending on the season. The campground will close down sometime this year (2018) to tear down and build a new bathhouse. The current bathhouse is open but was damaged in January when the plumbing froze. We camped at Cliffs of the Neuse State Park in a Motorhome.

First time here. The recent upgrades at some of the sites are great. Our site was large and had plenty of privacy. Enjoyed walking the trails and just hanging out. Bathhouse is worn but appeared to be clean. We camped at Cliffs of the Neuse State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

NC Park System recently refurbished the campground, adding electric/water/sewer to a dozen sites. Onsite dump station also available. The campground has 35 site, including 3 cabins, on a single loop. Most sites are well-shaded. About 2 miles of hiking trails along the Neuse River (with a great overlook of the cliffs). The lake offers a sandy beach for swimming and boat rentals (no fishing in the lake). Like the rest of the campground, the bath house was newly renovated. Great water pressure in the showers. Park rangers drove through several times a day. Few trashcans, though, and you may have to walk 50 yards or more. No campground host when we visited. We will be back. We camped at Cliffs of the Neuse State Park in a Tent Trailer.
