15 Parks near Sunset Beach, North Carolina
Jul 2016 - $60.00
Nice shady campground. Very friendly staff and enjoyed my stay. LIke the fact you can go on line and pick out your camping spot. Some great restaurants nearby also if you decided not to cook. Pool was great, clean and taken care of. Friendly campers also in the campground. Need to find the garbage cans. Only had one near where my site, and it was full. Did not take the time to look for others. Maybe should mark those on the map: would be good. Would definitely stay again if I go up to that area. - Artjr
Jun 2016 - $30.00
This is a wonderful campground! We've stayed here several times and will be back again next year! The showers and all of the facilities are immaculate and the workers are helpful and friendly. There is a small game room for the kids and they have a swimming pool that's very nice too! - JimListon
May 2016 - $50.00
Stayed here 3 nights on the way to Wilmington. Roads and sites are gravel in pretty good shape. Sites are reasonably level and very spacious. I was driving a 45 foot long Motorhome and had no problem maneuvering. All utilities worked great. Water pressure was 60 psi and the WiFi had recently been upgraded. It was the best service I've had in weeks. Everyone was very friendly. It is a short drive to the beach, but the beach is lovely. This park is also really quiet day and night. I would stay here again. - Archer2
Jun 2016 - $12.00
Would have rated higher but not for big rigs due to trees with overhanging branches and only 30 amps. Nice small RV campground with gravel roads and dirt sites with a table. Mostly big trees for plenty of shade, but only a couple of sites can get satellite. All back in sites with FHU. No wi-fi, average cell signal, but free cable tv. Nice shower house but no game room, no club house, no pool, or laundry, and no scheduled activities. But very quiet. Separate area for tents and pop-ups with playground. 5 miles from beach. Owner friendly and helpful. GPS couldn't find it even though on main road. ½ mile east of KOA. Would stay there again. - Pepper Dan
May 2015 - $24.00
Small, quiet park, peaceful. Lots of shade. Great place to relax.
Owner was very nice and friendly.
Will stay again when we are in the area. - Rlcjw
Oct 2014 - $11.00
Water is from a well and has a odd taste. Sites are narrow and was difficult to maneuver with our 36' - however saw 40' MH parked there. Had to trim trees to keep them from dragging on top of our 5vr. The road into the park is difficult to find the first time - and potholes makes entering and exiting difficult. Park has a storage parking area as you enter full of very old boats, trailers, and RVs. This is a PA park and you can't beat the price for the area. The over air channels work in the area. The mosquitoes were beyond awful - two drainage areas on both sides of the park must encourage their breeding areas. We didn't spend much time in the park so it met our needs. We will probably stay there again since we have family in the area. Rate based on monthly rate. - westie0506
Nov 2008 - $32.00
An older small campground, with waterfront sites right on an ocean inlet. Very friendly. - vtchris
Jun 2016 - $50.00
Nice park if you have pets. Would have rated the park better if it had cable. Antenna reception is limited at best. Still nice park. - giezerglide
Jul 2009 - $45.00
Very friendly campsite. Many, many seasonal campers. Waterfront is on intercoastal. Beach access is short drive. Very convenient for intercoastal fishing or beach fishing. Campground has boat access to intercoastal. Office is only opened a few hours each morning, so contacting for reservations or check-in is sporadic. Pool is very refreshing and clean. Bathrooms are clean, but not much privacy or soap and towels at sinks. Tent camping is same price as full hookups, which seems that they prefer not to have any tenters. Due to my desire to fish, and kids desire to swim in a pool, we will be back. - rustytac
Oct 2009 - $30.00
This campground is grass sites with nothing fancy. It is close to town and to several beaches. We did not see management the three days we spent here. Everything was done by phone, and they were very pleasant. Campground offers very attractive monthly rates. The grass needed mowing and the interior road had some pot holes but overall a good place to stay. We would stay here again. - Al & Joan
Jul 2007 - $50.00
This is a well cared for park. Close to town and the ocean. People were friendly and helpful. Will stay again. - lady Jane
Jul 2006 - $25.00
Small and clean campground. Friendly and family run. Good for a stopover on the way north or south on Hwy 17. Located just south of Wilmington and north of Myrtle Beach. All sites have water, electric, sewer and cable. Only downside is no bathrooms or shower house, so must be self contained. We'll stop by again if traveling this way and need an overnight stay. Just minutes from stores and from Holden Beach. - busyteach
Jun 2015 - $58.00
Like other have said its is a tough one to rate. So let me say if you want a resort this is NOT the place for you, if you want pavement this is not the place for you, if you want space this is definitely not the place for you. If you do not like to track sand in your RV, this is not the place for you
It has water sewer and electric, a few sites have 50 amp, power is adequate at 118 volts, it has approximately 25 sites located in parking lot style on sand there have been little to no up grades in 40 years, it has broken down and worn out picnic table with worn wood roof over them on each site, your neighbors sewer hose is pretty close to your able, it probably started out as a fishing spot, we are one of two motor homes here, most are trailers. The camp ground provides nothing, no play ground, cable TV, they only accept cash or check for payment, it does have a greasy spoon restaurant on site and a very large fishing pier.
Now for the good, people are all very friendly, if you love the beach, walking on the 8 miles or so of pristine beach, hearing the waves crashing, fishing, surfing and hanging out in a low key place. This may be just the place for you. It is located right on the beach, just a very short walk as in less than 200 feet.
For ourselves we love it and for the beach part of it and the people I give it a 10. This is the only campground the island, I cannot believe the owners have not sold out to developers. we will definitely come back. - Camping USA
Jul 2012 - $52.00
Like others have stated this is a hard park to rate. Very old and tired. Surroundings could use trash pickup. Just general trash in every nook throughout the park and near the small store/cafe. $1 to walk the pier. Picnic tables and attached covers, some decent but old, others falling down. Full sun and AC finds it hard to keep up with 95+ days we camped. No awning out, wind was horrible. Could barely open camper door and we had to open it for our child who couldn't hang onto it. Typical greasy spoon cafe. Camp store very sparse but small general store just a very short walk down the sidewalk along with nice ice cream store and surf shop. No amenities at all. But as others stated if you are here for the beach it is direct ocean front access. Beach nice but bit trashy. Hubby says he would definitely go back because surf fishing interests him here, but I am on the fence about a return trip. We had fun but I have stayed at other beachfront CG's that for the small price increase you get tons of amenities and beachfront. - Karen2378
May 2012 - $32.00
Very hard to rate this park. My wife and I loved it! The park and the surrounding area is stuck back in the 60s. The cg. is tired and built for smaller rigs but has real character. There is no pool, mini golf, paved sites or anything else you would look for in an ocean campground-BUT if you love the ocean, a very laid back atmosphere and fishing, this is the place! Our trailer is 40' and took up what used to be two sites when the average trailer was much smaller. We did have 50 amp but there is a limited number of spots that have 50 amp. The rest are 30 amp. There were a few permanent or seasonal trailers there but they were nicely kept. It is very tight if you have one of the sites in the middle of the rows. Not everyone's cup of tea, but if you are looking for a quiet ocean cg without all the glitz-check this one out! - SouthernNights
Sep 2012 - $40.00
The absolute worst run down RV park in the country. Traveled in a 40" Motorhome and was told by the Manager that we would be real happy here shaded lots, right by the ocean etc. Upon arriving I knew we were in for a surprise. The dirt road off the highway full of ruts and we had been calling the RV "PARK" all day no answer. Looked like something right off of the sound set of "Deliverance". The majority of the toothless residents outside of their dilapidated TRAILERS drinking beer and half drunk. They were all gawking as we pulled in The only thing missing was the kid with the banjo. What a sorry excuse for an RV park. Looked at the website and thought it would be fine. Had to drive 2 more hours to find suitable quarters for the night in Myrtle Beach. DO NOT VISIT THIS DUMP. - Rick and vik
Sep 2016 - $61.00
Immaculate facility - groundskeepers seem to work around the clock maintaining the pool, clubhouse and grounds. Nothing was out of place even though the park was full. There are a number of longer term residents but, unlike other parks, their areas are immaculate.
Check in was quick and we were provided an escort to our huge pull through site. The site easily accommodated our 44' motorhome and towed car - in fact we could have put another motorhome or two in the space. Spacing between sites is enormous for a privately owned park. All sites have tons of room and most are pleasantly shaded - with fire ring, grill and concrete patio. All drives and sites are paved. Wifi is the best we've experienced at any park - ever.
The pools (kiddie & regular), lake swimming area, clubhouse, laundry facilities and office are beautifully maintained with great attention to detail. This is a beautiful park.
Willow Tree is secluded but is only minutes from the beach, restaurants, shopping and everything else you can imagine. This place is a great find and I expect to come here often. - Rob&Terri
Aug 2016 - $69.00
This resort was recommended to us by managers at a park in Georgia. We have RVed for 16 years and Willow Tree is probably the nicest resort we have found. Sites were long, shaded, spacious, and landscaped. Pool, lake, and other recreation facilities were first-rate. Entry to the park makes it feel truly private. - gbburgess
Jul 2016 - $89.00
We camped for 3 nights and paid $296.37. There was a mistake with our bill, which mgmt acknowledged, but refused to do anything about due to it being called to their attn after we checked out. The campground is clean, sites are a nice size, but I caution you from staying at this campground as they do not value their repeat customers. - wlmartin1004
Nov 2014 - $47.00
This park is a work in progress. The owners are super nice and more than accomodating and there are some things about the park that are great...the bath house is fully tiled and roomy. The office/bath house looks to be virtually new. There is a pool under construction that will be available in the spring of 2015. It is only about 2 miles to the beach and there are grocery and other type of stores and restuarants nearby. The campsites are quite roomy and his power is 15/30/50. There are quite a number of what appear to be permanents although they are not globbed up with add-on rooms and all that. The sites are sand (it is the beach) with grass. Most sites have a picnic table. It was raining when we arrived and we sort-of plowed in getting into the site...may have been soft because of the rain..and my coach is very heavy. There is no shrubbery to provide separation between the sites...but the sites are large. The roads in the campground are sand with a smattering of gravel. All in all, the park has good possibilities. Hopefully, the park will continue its improvements because the town really needs a good campground. - Tcamperman
Jul 2005 - $43.00
The property has been sold. We were told new owners are closing the campground. Some sites are right along a street and get a lot of traffic noise. Our site was 24' wide some were even wider - lots of room for slides and awnings. Very close to some major attractions and restaurants. Sites were clean and well maintained. - Cheryl
