This was our third time staying at this campground and it continues to get better. We stayed in one of the deluxe patio sites which I believe are a new addition. These are very nice sites with a good gravel base. The patio is large with a round table and chairs as well as a picnic table, a BBQ and a fire pit. This is a very convenient base for exploring the Asheville/Blue Ridge Parkway area. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Motorhome.

We were only here for 1 night. We got there and pulled up in front of the office and went inside to check in. They said someone would lead us to our site. So we followed him all around a big loop and pulled into a pull through site right beside where we were parked to check in. I could have backed up 30 feet and then turned right and pulled right into the site. Typical crazy KOA! We do not like KOA but every once in a while we relent and use one but they are mostly overpriced and undervalued. But we could manage for 1 night. Utilities were good. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a very pretty campground. It was well maintained and clean. The office crew were just 'ok' but the site workers were awesome. Every time they would drive by they would ask anyone if they needed anything or did they have any trash. They even stopped and gave and older man and his LP tank a lift back up to offices then drove him back. Two lakes and a river are on site. Some great tent sites and cabins here too. Our site was up front and the neighbors dump connection was very close. Cable and power were fine. It was an 'OK' campground. Only reason we went is it was our VERY FIRST camping trip and it's only an hour and a half from home. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There's just not much else to do locally off site unless you head on up to Asheville. Not a large selection in dining out either. Black Mountain is nice by very small and quickly toured.

This was our second trip to this campground and it is a jewel outside of Asheville. Campground was very busy on this holiday weekend but enjoyable. Reserved a lakeside site (passenger side faced lake) and had great views. Had someone on duty at entrance at all times looking for parking/visitor passes. Friendly staff and plenty of family activities on site. Wifi strength was good but speed was slow due to number of users. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Motorhome.

This campground is ok. Our site was clean and paved with a patio, table and chairs. One serious issue......unleashed dogs! Although I can't find a specific pet policy on their website, I can't imagine that any KOA allows free range and has no breed restrictions. About a minute after exiting the RV to walk my dogs, a very aggressive dog charged at my dog "out of nowhere". The owner of the dog appeared shortly after and was able to get the dog to release the neck hold it had on my dog. The campground owner/manager rushed over on a golf cart and admonished the dog owner for not using a leash. Later it dawned on me that I was lucky that the aggressive animal didn't turn on me or my smaller dog. I was happy that the incident was over with no injuries and let my dogs continue their "walk" in the fenced-in dog park area. The next morning I was surprised to see a different dog running unleashed next to a golf cart. It appeared that this animal was with a campground staff member. The campground was sparsely populated but this lack of adherence to any rules caused a potentially disastrous situation to exist. If you are concerned about the comfort and safety of you, your children, or your pets, my suggestion is to book at another campground. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Motorhome.

We had a 10 night stay here and we used it as a home base for exploring the amazing Asheville area. We loved our trip to Asheville, But the site at the koa was terrible. This koa has nice sites on the river, but we were not special enough for one of those. We were crammed under a tree, squished in between two other large rvs. We did not let the caca site get in the way of our fun though! The kids liked the playground, river area, game room and they made new friends. We made the best of it as you always have to do when you go rving. The man that escorted us to our site was superb! He helped us out a ton. I highly recommended this campground but like I said, try and get a nice site by the river. Asheville and Black Mountain are both amazing places and the hikes around these areas are not to be missed. Do not hesitate to stay at this koa as it is safe and conveniently located. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Mellow Mushroom for pizza. The Cantina is a great Mexican place in the biltmore area. We loved the arboretum and the nature center. Craggy hike was great. Chimney Rock and visit Black Mountain downtown.

Sites close together. Pretty much dirt sites. Rained and it was a muddy mess. The sites to the right of the store have stone and are much nicer. Don't know why the sites on the left side are not provided with stone covering the dirt. Across the creek are several additional tent and RV sites which for some reason are not utilized. All of us are crammed together up front. The WiFi is non-existent. The bath house attached to the office was last updated sometime during the 1950's. Shower stalls are dirty.

Our sites picnic table is about 2' from our neighbors sewer hide. Yumm. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice setting by river and nice landscaping and trees. 50 amp sites are partial to no shade. We stayed in back in 50 amp and had to park toad at angle in front of motorhome but was doable. We stayed a week and it was a nice base camp for touring area. Very family oriented. Charge extra $2.50 a night for 50 amp. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Motorhome.

This is a typical KOA. The interior roads are paved and the sites are gravel and grass. We had a premium site with full hookups (all good), a concrete pad, brick patio with dinning table/4 chairs and 2 lounge chairs and small table. (There are only 3 premium sites, B-15, 16, and 17). Most of the other sites are gravel and grass.

Veterans, ask for your discount. It is not advertised but it is there if you ask for the discount.

There are lots of ducks and geese on the property. There is a fenced dog park and they do recycle. In addition to the $50.00 site fee, there is a $2.50 daily AMP charge.

There is a railroad and crossing directly across the roadway and Casey Jones likes to lean on the horn button at all hours of the day and night. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you need a laugh, and a good one, take the LaZoom Comedy City Bus tour in downtown Asheville. If you need a little history and something very, very interesting, visit the Biltmore Estates.

Nice older park, very well kept. Nice level sites, plenty of trees. Roads in good condition. Good location, easy to reach all area attractions. Employees were friendly. I would rate it higher except for the TRAIN which blows it's whistle multiple times at night. It woke us up each time. Probably will not use again because of the train noise. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Motorhome.

By a river with many noisy ducks & geese. Not very frequent nearby train whistle. Continuous, moderate road noise from nearby highway. Fast WiFi, good clean showers, level sites & useful TV cable. Some shady sites. Good electric & water pressure. Somewhat overpriced like most RV Parks in this area. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Stopped for one night. Nice older KOA that is under improvement/repair. Friendly helpful staff. Decently stocked store. Price is pretty much the going rate around the greater Asheville area. 2 miles from exit 59 I-40. Entrance is through a small parking lot of another business. Overnight sites are level and well maintained but are a bit close. Majority of sites are just across the Swannanoa River, which runs through the park. W/S/E all worked well. Wi-Fi had great coverage, but less than great performance. During peak hours, internet access slowed to a crawl. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Motorhome.

Stayed here from middle of November through 1st week of January. Had only planned on staying here 1 month, but because of a combination of things we decided to stay longer. We have already booked to stay again in the summer and we will stay here again. Very friendly, Owner is really nice, spots range from all sizes and types but most are really nice. I am not sure on actual price paid because we changed around our plans and we left for a week but payed storage fee's. Owner very good with working with us on flexibility. Only down side is the train... But honestly its just a minor thing. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a nice setting with well-kept facilities. As a KOA member its prices are a little higher perhaps than some, but the setting very nice with streams and woods. Its very close to Black Mountain and an entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway. If you have kids, they will love this place. Nice pool, fishing, biking, hiking etc. Its easy to get excited about being outside. They even feature a pancake breakfast in an outdoor (covered) facility. It was great for the kids. Everything is clean and well maintained. The WiFi worked well. The management and staff that seem to enjoy taking care of their guests. I've paid less at other campgrounds, but considering weekend hotel rates in the area, this place is a bargain. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Motorhome.
