The folks in the office were mostly very nice. The 50 amp, full hook up site was fairly level. This campground is a typical KOA in that everything was adequate, but as usual they charged $10.00 (5 each) for friends to visit us for a couple of hours, milking us every which way they can to make a buck. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Motorhome.

Very friendly staff. Led us to our site which was very helpful as it is kind of confusing! Spaces are very close together, we were in B section which had a nice patio. Loved the walk by the river and pond! If we stayed again, would request same spot. Wifi slow. could get satellite. We did notice trains but didn't bother us. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Downtown Asheville was really fun! Lots of stores & restaurants only 20 minutes from camp including a Trader Joe's. There was a really nice & big Ingles Grocery just down the road & downtown Swanannoa was a blast. Walked all over & visited many art shops, unique clothing shops & a great local coffee shop.

While staying in Asheville we checked out this campground. We had been staying in the national forest but had no cell phone signal so we hoped to move to the KOA. As is typical with a KOA campground, the sites were close together. There was no shade to speak of. It looked like some units were spending the winter here. The cost of more than $50 per night just did not seem reasonable given that there was nothing about the park that stood out. We decided to save ourselves $30 and stay where we were instead of moving to this KOA. If the cost were half the amount, it might be worth staying. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Plan ahead and get morning reservations for the Biltmore. The crowds are pretty thick in the afternoon. Spend a few hours in nearby Black Mountain. Charming afternoon walk. I would not recommend the quiche place to eat.

We arrived just before Halloween weekend and got the very last spot. Site #11 up on the hill where the permanent campers/workers live. Lots more quiet than down in the "zoo". Tree were beautiful in their fall colors. Loved the full hookup after our last stop. Especially with the dusting of snow for our heat pumps. Lots of squirrel/bird TV for our cats to view thru the coach windows. The park emptied out and was lovely Monday morning. Great trails around the lakes for cat walking. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Blue Ridge parkway was conveniently right down the road. Such a stunning drive this year and an escape from the city bustle. Southbound was closed at MM #402 due to flooding. Hunter Banks Outfitters's is an amazing fly fishing shop! The town of Black Mountain was fun for a shopping day and the Blue Ridge Biscuit Company is a must for breakfast. Country roads galore to meander down and of course the Biltmore Estate with the worlds best ice cream are all nearby!

Overall Rating:

Located in an area convenient to major roads and attractions of Asheville, this is a typical KOA. Sites in the 50 amp section are very close with our picnic table being less than a foot from our neighbors' sewer. The unit behind us was less than a foot from our back bumper. Some of the sites seem to have more room and if you are able to do 30 amp back in sites overlooking the river have a beautiful view. The site was fairly level gravel and utilities were well-placed and easy to use. OTA television was very limited but the cable service was adequate. Both Verizon and Sprint worked well.

There is a small fenced dog yard at the front of the park and a very large area to walk along the river. Laundry room was clean and neat with multiple washers at $1.75 a load. There are three oversized dryers. Trash is picked up each morning in front of the site. Once the campground is full in the 50 amp area the interior roads become tight with all the assorted vehicles. They escort you to your side and help you park, which does make this a little easier. If you are booking at a popular time of year you might want to check several months in advance, as everything was fairly full for the entire five days we were here. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The Blue Ridge Parkway is 10 minutes from the campground.

The folk art center is well worth a stop. The folk art store in downtown Asheville across from the courthouse has reasonable and beautiful local crafts.

The southern entrance to Great Smoky Mountain National Park is about an hour drive.

Great meal of North Carolina barbecue at OkieDdokies which is just minutes from the campground.

We were only here for 1 night. We got there and pulled up in front of the office and went inside to check in. They said someone would lead us to our site. So we followed him all around a big loop and pulled into a pull through site right beside where we were parked to check in. I could have backed up 30 feet and then turned right and pulled right into the site. Typical crazy KOA! We do not like KOA but every once in a while we relent and use one but they are mostly overpriced and undervalued. But we could manage for 1 night. Utilities were good. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our third time staying at this campground and it continues to get better. We stayed in one of the deluxe patio sites which I believe are a new addition. These are very nice sites with a good gravel base. The patio is large with a round table and chairs as well as a picnic table, a BBQ and a fire pit. This is a very convenient base for exploring the Asheville/Blue Ridge Parkway area. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Motorhome.

This was our second trip to this campground and it is a jewel outside of Asheville. Campground was very busy on this holiday weekend but enjoyable. Reserved a lakeside site (passenger side faced lake) and had great views. Had someone on duty at entrance at all times looking for parking/visitor passes. Friendly staff and plenty of family activities on site. Wifi strength was good but speed was slow due to number of users. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Motorhome.

This was a very pretty campground. It was well maintained and clean. The office crew were just 'ok' but the site workers were awesome. Every time they would drive by they would ask anyone if they needed anything or did they have any trash. They even stopped and gave and older man and his LP tank a lift back up to offices then drove him back. Two lakes and a river are on site. Some great tent sites and cabins here too. Our site was up front and the neighbors dump connection was very close. Cable and power were fine. It was an 'OK' campground. Only reason we went is it was our VERY FIRST camping trip and it's only an hour and a half from home. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Travel Trailer.

There's just not much else to do locally off site unless you head on up to Asheville. Not a large selection in dining out either. Black Mountain is nice by very small and quickly toured.

This campground is ok. Our site was clean and paved with a patio, table and chairs. One serious issue......unleashed dogs! Although I can't find a specific pet policy on their website, I can't imagine that any KOA allows free range and has no breed restrictions. About a minute after exiting the RV to walk my dogs, a very aggressive dog charged at my dog "out of nowhere". The owner of the dog appeared shortly after and was able to get the dog to release the neck hold it had on my dog. The campground owner/manager rushed over on a golf cart and admonished the dog owner for not using a leash. Later it dawned on me that I was lucky that the aggressive animal didn't turn on me or my smaller dog. I was happy that the incident was over with no injuries and let my dogs continue their "walk" in the fenced-in dog park area. The next morning I was surprised to see a different dog running unleashed next to a golf cart. It appeared that this animal was with a campground staff member. The campground was sparsely populated but this lack of adherence to any rules caused a potentially disastrous situation to exist. If you are concerned about the comfort and safety of you, your children, or your pets, my suggestion is to book at another campground. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Motorhome.

We had a 10 night stay here and we used it as a home base for exploring the amazing Asheville area. We loved our trip to Asheville, But the site at the koa was terrible. This koa has nice sites on the river, but we were not special enough for one of those. We were crammed under a tree, squished in between two other large rvs. We did not let the caca site get in the way of our fun though! The kids liked the playground, river area, game room and they made new friends. We made the best of it as you always have to do when you go rving. The man that escorted us to our site was superb! He helped us out a ton. I highly recommended this campground but like I said, try and get a nice site by the river. Asheville and Black Mountain are both amazing places and the hikes around these areas are not to be missed. Do not hesitate to stay at this koa as it is safe and conveniently located. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Sites close together. Pretty much dirt sites. Rained and it was a muddy mess. The sites to the right of the store have stone and are much nicer. Don't know why the sites on the left side are not provided with stone covering the dirt. Across the creek are several additional tent and RV sites which for some reason are not utilized. All of us are crammed together up front. The WiFi is non-existent. The bath house attached to the office was last updated sometime during the 1950's. Shower stalls are dirty.

Our sites picnic table is about 2' from our neighbors sewer hide. Yumm. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
