Decent place, convienent to Asheville and surrounding areas, but most sites are very close together. Mostly very small yards, very steep roads for walking, and a bit hairy for driving a big rig up/down. Take it slow and easy and there shouldn't be a problem. The narrow road, with no shoulders on the way to the park is not so good....hopefully you don't run into any on coming traffic or don't mind brushing against bushes and trees near the road. The best sites in the park are in the upper area. Sites 32 (back in with a decent side yard and no neighbors on passenger side) and 33 (pull through with another decent side yard) being the best of the bunch. The other pull throughs 34-37 had some great views with a deck over looking the valley. If you plan on spending a lot of time at the park, 33-37 are probably worth the extra charge. All of the upper sites have gorgeous views. We wouldn't consider trying to park a big rig in the lower area...high approach/depart angles with large trees/shrubs near the sites. We're not going to rule this park out for future visits, but will be looking for alternatives before booking here. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We almost skipped Biltmore based on the admission price, but so glad we went! The "house" was amazing, but the (dog friendly) grounds, gardens, and huge greenhouse were spectactacular! If you enjoy craft beer, there are many, many great breweries in the area. Lots of amazing hiking, from very easy to grueling near Ashevill. Downtown Asheville is very cool with great resturants and people watching.

This family owned park has been developed with great care and attention to detail. We stayed on the top tier of the park and the views were breathtaking. Each site is large gravel, level, with well positioned and fully functional hookups. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The laundry is clean and the machines looked new. $50 per night was a bit of a splurge for us, but well worth it. We would most definitely go back time and time again. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Blue Ridge Parkway entrance and Billy Graham Training Center are both less than 5 miles and the Biltmore Estate is about 10 miles from the park. Asheville has some wonderful places to dine, the view is spectacular, and the people are friendly.

Probably my favorite campground in NC. This place is immaculate. The bathrooms are spotless. We stayed for New Years and spent several days exploring the Asheville area and breweries. We stayed in site 25. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Highland brewery is just a 10 minute drive away and has live music and food trucks every night.

Check-in was quick and staff was friendly and knowledgeable and we were provided good escort to our site. Road leading to campground entrance is narrow and steep. Road within campground is narrow, steep and winding, especially to top level. Not a trip for the inexperienced or the faint of heart in a large motorcoach or pulling a large trailer. The view from the top is amazing. We unhooked our toad at the bottom near the office. Utilityhookups in the site are conveniently located and leveling was easy. It would be a long walk to the office, laundry. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice park in the mountains, with new upper level. Narrow road off the interstate to the park. Pretty good climb to the upper level but great view. Spots 33-37 are on the edge of the hill with nice decks and swing. The only downside of the upper area is the afternoon sun which there are no trees. Make reservation early for fall colors they book up quick. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

As good as it gets. Excellent sites, the newest on the mountain top. Asphalt loop roads, level, gravel sites, some paved sites (with lawns). The store, restrooms, showers, laundry room and modem room are first class. The staff is as friendly as they come. This place only gets better with each visit. Close to Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Take some of the backroads south and west out of Asheville for some beautiful drives. Many waterfalls to see along a south and west loop from Asheville. Visit the Biltmore Estate for at least a day. Get two-day special tickets at Mama's office. Visit Asheville for a day. Plenty of art, restaurants, Mast General Store, etc. Visit the Parkway Art Center.

Very nice campground nine miles from Asheville and Biltmore. Quite hilly but level sites. Gated entrance, escort to site with help siting your rig. Friendly staff. No trains and little road noise. Water pressure high and good quality. No problems with power, cable and Wifi worked well. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in the area. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Two days for the price of one tickets for Biltmore available at the office. Biltmore offers Segway tours, if you never have, you should. Rooftop tour at Biltmore is well worth the money.

Was impressed with the park and found it to be "big rig" friendly. We stayed in a 39' 5th wheel, in the upper part of the campground. An amazing view from the top, and some sites have a balcony with wrought iron table/chairs and a swing. Strongly recommending staying here if you are in the area. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Drum circle downtown Asheville a must see (every Friday evening 5pm to dark), Mt Mitchell, Clingmans dome, Biltmore House, farmers market, arboretum, and many other great day trips from here.

Cleanest bathrooms and showers I've seen. Only drawback is the campground is divided among 3 sections. The actual pads are very nice and level, but the campground as a while is on the side of a mountain. The lanes connecting the different sections are very, very steep. It seemed, because of the steepness, very vew people take walks in the park. The managers here are some of the most helpful we've ever met. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We had an incredible mountain view site and loved the proximity to Asheville and Black Mountain. The campgrounds are spotless and exceptionally maintained. Competent drivers needed for steep hill and tight turns. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Fresh Wood Fired Pizza and Pasta in nearby Black Mountain has some of the best pizza we've ever tasted.

Excellent private campground tucked into the mountains yet right off 1-40 near Asheville and Black Mountain. Easy to manuver sites, friendly and helpful hosts. Beautiful setting with trails nearby and dog walking facilities. New sites being developed at top of ridge overlooking campground. The cleanest bathroom, shower, laundry facilities we've visited in 2 years of full time RV traveling. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Great location beween Asheville and Black Mountain with lots of shopping, galleries, Biltmore Estate, and breweries to choose from. Highly recommend Mama Gerties for a pleasurable camping experience. They also have cabins and tent sites available to rent.

We were on the upper level, but without the deck, on site #39, a back-in site for our 36 ft mh. The views were awesome, sunsets are spectacular. Cool and breezy perfect weather sitting out. We called ahead and staff told us to unhook our "toad" as soon as we exited I-40. Then 1/2 mile uphill to campground. Friendly staff, guided us to our site up a narrow winding paved road caused some anxiety, but no problem. Very level sites on top level. Needless to say, my wife wanted to know why didn't I get a site with deck and swing overlooking mountains. Oh well, they were $15 extra. Free Wi-Fi was good, slightly slow at times, but worked. Great base camp for day trips to Asheville, Hendersonville, Black Mountain. A lot of work has been put into the upper level sites, but no bath house on this level yet. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Motorhome.

Absolutely wonderful park! Do not be discouraged by comments about heights - the terracing is very well done. We stayed in the middle section due to concerns about the steepness (big fear of heights!) and were thrilled with our spot - booked for the top terrace for the Fall after checking it out! Walking the park would be for the uber conditioned camper but it's all about the views, relaxing and breathing the sweet mountain air. Staff could not possibly be nicer! We are hooked! We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Check out Bittersweet Antiques right at the bottom of the hill - great finds and good prices. Also - Ingles grocery store right down the road with excellent food and wine selection. There are very RV friendly gas pumps right in front of the grocery store as well as a Burger King and a Bank of America across the street. We rented an Enterprise car - reserve early!!!!! They book up quickly. They will pick you up at your site and gave us a Mama Gertie's discount.
