What a gem! One of those places you kinda' don't WANT to review, because you'd rather keep it quiet!

It's a treacherous drive up the last mile or so to get to the campground. It's basically a one lane steep, windy, gravel and dirt road with very few opportunities to move out of the way of another vehicle. But.... if you're willing to do that, the payoff is so worth it! Just DON'T miss the left turn into the campground and go too far.... it'll be tough to get back there!

The one ONLY other downside is that there are no water hookups at the sites.... but the staff will help you fill up on the way in and then if you run out, they will assist with helping to run hoses to you for refilling. Obviously there's also no sewer hookups.... but they will arrange pump out service.... it's $40.... so choose wisely!

The campground is VERY tenter heavy and GREAT for hiking. The weekends are FULL.... but it's so spacious etc that the only real downside was that the shower house had pretty long lines with all those tenters on the weekend days. The bath house is immaculate as is the rest of the property!

It's like sleeping in the clouds.....literally on SOME days! It was just spectacular though! Mountains all around.... warm summer breezes and cool nights! AMAZING escape from the heat and humidity of Florida! And we saw lightning bugs, chipmunks and even a hummingbird! Very cool! We camped at Blue Bear Mountain Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

When we arrived I found out that due to my negligence I did not notice when booking that the campsites did not have water a each site. Only electricity. Our camper has never had the fresh water tanks filled so we were not going to take a chance on contamination or it having leaks. The owners were very nice and understood my decision to cancel the reservation. They still charged me the cancellation fee but that was to be expected and I did not argue as it was my fault. On another note!! Please be advised that this campground name has mountain in it. That being said we were pulling a 32 ft trailer with our F250 and it was a struggle to get it up to the campground. Once you get off the highway from Boone the road is gravel up to Blue Bear CG. One other word of caution. Do not miss the turn as there is no sign that tells you the turn off goes to your campground. You have to know the road name and be watching for it diligently. The second we realized we missed the turn it was too late and drove 3 miles looking for a place to turn around on this narrow two lane road. I finally gave up and stopped in the middle of the road and backed up on to a side road to turn around. They could use a sign just before the turn if it was permissible. I'm sure it would have been a pleasant stay if you did not need the convenience of water on your site. We camped at Blue Bear Mountain Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a fairly new park in the Boone area. The sites are very roomy. Lots of space between them. The bathhouse was very clean and well-maintained. There was a laundry facility and outside sink for cleaning dishes. The tent sites were very isolated. The owner will assist with hauling your gear to the remote sites. Lots of trails to explore. Stocked trout pond. No water at RV sites but, this was not a big issue for us. The owner delivered our firewood to our site. Very nice guy! We are planning to stay here again when we come to this area. The road into the campground from the main road was tight in places but still manageable. Stargazers will be in heaven here. We camped at Blue Bear Mountain Campground in a Tent Trailer.
