Reserved for 7 days. Had a 38 ft 5th Wheel. We were aware that only 30 amp service available. Experienced in conserving power, used only one AC and one lamp, occasional TV. Within 1 hour, we had lost power multiple times. Could not make contact by phone with any employees in park. Drove to entrance gate 3 times; maintenance came and advised nothing they could do, our loop was "worst loop and notorious for losing power". Temp was 95 degrees. Second day was worse, lost power every 15 minutes, again forced to drive to look for maintenance. They advised no other sites were available. We were down to one small electric fan and night light. Decided to spend day away from camper for relief; returned home to find no power. It's after hours, no help to be found. Third morning, still no power. Talked to neighbors who were experiencing same problem. Finally had to call the NC State Reservation System because there is NO way to contact anyone in management at park without driving to hunt them down. The reservation clerk said he was "so sorry we were having difficulty and No Refunds for early departure." I told him we could stay in a Walmart parking lot for free and have as good a service as they were providing. He transferred me, at my demand, to a consumer complaint lady who once again said " no, we don't give refunds". After a very heated discussion she said well I'll open a case for review and if you leave you might not have to pay for remaining days. I told her that wasn't going to work and I would challenge the charge to my credit card. So, long story short...this park is continuing to rent sites that they are aware are not up to par, could possibly cause electrical fires and take your money. Maintenance says State Govt has allocated 2 million to upgrade electric but can't be used until 2020. Stay away...beware...protest and complain. No Power Available for entire stay !! I agree with the concept of natural beauty in state parks, but the grass and vines and weeds were out of control here. We relocated to a State Fairgrounds Campground; $30 night, full hookups, great staff!! To be continued! We camped at Falls Lake SRA / Holly Point Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Stayed in Holly Point Loop 3, site 87. Cost is usually: $24.00 per night + a reservation fee of $6.00 (for entire stay). We got a $3/nt military discount to = $21. Great RV site, nice and spacious! It was gravel but level, lots of space between sites with trees, picnic table, and fire ring (ashes had been totally cleaned out w/leftover logs set aside. Nice!). There's alot of room for lounging. Good channel selections with antenna. No wi-fi available but good signal with AT&T. No sewer hook-up but the dump station depot has 2 areas to use and is roomy. Water pressure just ok. One issue though! Since there's no sewer hook-up, in order to keep our grey tank from filling up, I thought I'd use the shower at the park bathrooms. These were fairly clean but a little old. The showers, however, were terrible! First of all, there's no heat (or cooling for summer) in the building so it was cold in there. The shower stalls have no privacy to change clothes by the bench outside the wet area; only a curtain for the shower area itself. The shower is one of those old-timey push button ones but the water doesn't stay on! The water comes out for literally one second! Then you have to keep pushing it every second. And the water is cold and never warms up (how can it when the flow is interruped every other second???). So I gave up & took a brief (but warm) shower in our trailer. We camped at Falls Lake SRA / Holly Point Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This campground has nice long sites. Our site was level. Access is available to Falls Lake with a boat ramp. The only playground is located at the boat ramp near loop 3. There is a hiking trail. We had no problems with electric and water hook-ups. Fire pits are at each site. We camped at Falls Lake SRA / Holly Point Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This was our first camping experience with our new Class A motorhome. We were very impressed with the size of each campsite. Very wooded and lots of buffer between spots. Free dump station available. Nearby were hiking trails and access to the beach/lake. We camped at Falls Lake SRA / Holly Point Campground in a Motorhome.

* Price incldues $3 online reservation charge and $5 water-front surcharge Another gorgeous NC State Park...all spots are heavily wooded. Our spot (#75) had a fairly steep slope, but a great view of the lake. Elec & water avaialable -- no issues. Rangers drove through several times a day and trash emptied twice a day. Restrooms were dated (too bad NC isn't willing to use its budget surplus) but servicable. Only 4 showers (male and female, each) for the entire loop, so you may have to wait if it gets busy. Two swim "beaches" availble within the campground and a hiking trail that connects all loops. We camped at Falls Lake SRA / Holly Point Campground in a Tent Trailer.

This park was pretty, quiet and well kept. Rangers drive by multiple times a day. Sites in loop 3 are spacious, secluded and well maintained. Has gravel sites, fairly level with easy hookups. Includes fire ring, picnic table and lamp hook. Nice large lake with boat ramps. Do note that they have dynamic pricing for camp sites and add an extra $3 a day fee to your charges which made it a bit pricey ($27 weekdays, $30 weekend). Water/elec no sewer. Dump station on my area has 2 spots so plan ahead for busy weekend. Had really fast Verizon data here (could work and stream movies), got a decent amount of antenna TV channels. I recommend site 99. Really nice size! We camped at Falls Lake SRA / Holly Point Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Super easy and close to Raleigh and Wake Forest. There is a new shopping center with Harris Teeter grocery, Chinese takeout and Bojangles straight up 98 that google doesn't seem to show (if you map it will take you much farther away for the closest store).

First time at a NC State Park. Went in a 36 ft MH with wife and 2 girls (8 and 13). Highlights below.

Check in was fast/easy. Were not made to feel welcome. Not a bad experience, just there - minimal attempt to be helpful/interactive. Could have been better from them.

Sites do not have sewer - need to use dump station. Easy and not busy.

Roads were paved and in very good shape. Paths to bathrooms were paved as well. Very nice area - lots of trees, large lake, a couple of paths. Surrounding area is nice as well. Close to Wake Forest and Raleigh. Some very nice things to do in both places - including a free museum in Raleigh that was awesome for the kids (NC Museum of Natural Sciences).

Fair use at the campground over the weekend, but during the week very few people were there. Sites are large and private. Note that our site (73) had a slope to it. We chose it since it had a view of the lake. For our equipment (36 ft) it was a hassle getting level. Had to reposition a few times and extend jacks to the limit (with blocks). The sites across from ours were nice and large and level. Would have been a better choice for larger vehicles. If the reservation site says it is not level - it is not.

Bathrooms were a bit rustic - but it is a state park. Met my expectations. Have been in others that were more modern, but it is what I expected. Usable and clean.

Overall a very nice park, nice facilities, just be careful if you have a large vehicle and need a large site. We would go there again if in the area. We camped at Falls Lake SRA / Holly Point Campground in a Motorhome.

What a beautiful campground! Large private, shaded sites, level, nice yard area. Wonderful beach (2 actually) for swimming/ boating/fishing. Great hiking no trails and nice paved roads for bicking. Very family friendly. One FYI: the gate locks at 10:00 pm (no access in or out) so you must either be in by then or leave car at gate and walk to site. Would have been a 10 if it had sewer hookups. Still, very worth the visit! We'd definitely come back. We camped at Falls Lake SRA / Holly Point Campground in a Motorhome.

This was our first time camping at a NC state park and we chose a good one. The sites in Holly Point Loop 3 are all large and well spaced apart with lots of natural vegetation between them for privacy and the feeling of really being in the woods. Roads were good and our site was level although the restrooms could use updating but were clean. Staff was friendly and check in was easy. There is a swim beach a short walk away with a boat ramp, restrooms and changing rooms. We camped at Falls Lake SRA / Holly Point Campground in a Travel Trailer.

On the water, able to walk down a small slope right on our site to launch a kayak and one could fish if they chose to. So peaceful, though not far from the beach or bathhouse. Well lit paved paths to the bathhouse. Oh, and trash pickup from cans provided next to the site on the road. Very, very nice helpful staff from the maintenance workers to the rangers as well as the campground hosts. We will be returning next year for sure, if only it was a little closer (we live in MD). Lot spacing is spacious with some shade. Site surface was dirt and features a fire ring and picnic table. We camped at Falls Lake SRA / Holly Point Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We took a ride to Durham and enjoyed an awesome meal (outdoor seating which was perfect because we had our dog Lucky with us), in a fun eclectic setting. Also walked around the Durham Bulls stadium, sadly the season didn't begin for another 2 weeks. Teeter Harris is a grocery store which is nearby and they have a Redbox in case you want to rent a movie for a rainy day.

This is 4th time that we have camped at Falls Lake, Holly Point Campground. It has secluded campsites and we are close to the lake and to the beach. We were here for 3 nights for a get away in our motorhome. Close to our home, 1 hour drive. It has large wooded sites, with electricity and water at many of the sites. Campsites 69 - 76 and 48 - 56 have electric and water and are close to one of the swimming beaches and shoreline for fishing. These are our preferred campsites. There is a new Harris Teeter grocery store 3.3 miles from the campground, east on route 98. Also, it is 3.8 miles to Blue Jay Point County Park which has a new zip line concession, "Go Ape Tree Top Adventure".

We have camped here many times and love this campground. Many of the sites are huge and very private. It is always very quiet, even on the busiest holiday weekends. Access is excellent for large rigs. The one negative is the small, cramped showers. But we usually find the bath houses clean. There is good lake access for boats, and there are a couple of swim beaches. There is also a playground. We will keep returning here. We camped at Falls Lake SRA / Holly Point Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Great campground close to Research Triangle Park and all Raleigh has to offer. Nice lake with plenty of water sports opportunity. Bathhouses could be cleaner, but I let my standards slide knowing its a State Park facility. Nice family campground. We camped at Falls Lake SRA / Holly Point Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We really liked this campground with just a couple complaints. Positives were the nice sites with a good deal of privacy. Most were pretty large and flat. Reserve online and you will be able to get very accurate details about the site that will help you make your choice. The 2 beaches were small but were nice sandy beaches. Also had grassy area great for a game of frisbee! Picnic tables near beach in shady areas. You can also swim or put in boats, floats, etc., at many places around the grounds, including your own site if you select a lake site. Bathrooms were the negative part. Small showers with only one curtain so if you are a private person, you won't like that at all. Water is solar heated so showers at night are not so pleasant. Toilet paper runs out on weekends and bathrooms were pretty dirty by late in the day as well. Overall nice. Will go again. We camped at Falls Lake SRA / Holly Point Campground in a Tent Trailer.
