Large park that has two sections, one on the ocean and one on the sound. Sites are mostly back-in, concrete, fairly level and not exactly built for the larger RV's. Our 42' 5th wheel and truck just barely fit in our site. Picnic table, patio, wi-fi, cable, two pools, dog park, easy beach access. Beach area is very clean. Location is in the lower part of the OBK which is less commercialized, less traffic and quieter. Great location for visiting all the sites in the OBK! We camped at Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Large RV Park, on both sides of the main road. The largest part is on the beachside of road and the rest is on the sound. You cannot see the beach due to dunes but easy to access. We stayed in a beautiful site right on the sound. Ended up staying another night and were fortunate to have two lovely sunsets over the sound. Sites are fairly close together and are in full sun with no trees. Front desk very nice and helpful. It is expensive but will stay there again when in the area. We camped at Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

We just bought our first travel trailer 2 weeks before our trip. We noticed this campground had great reviews and they lived up to expectations. We traveled with our sons (ages 8 and 10). Nice cool pool, wide clean beach, friendly staff, big loop to ride bikes, free mini golf course and playground. The boys were quite active with room at our site to kick the soccer ball around and join some older kids I am impromptu game on the beach! Definitely will come back! We camped at Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Easy drive to see Cape Hatteras lighthouse, Bodie Island lighthouse, Wright Brothers memorial at Kitty Hawk. We didn't make it to Ocracoke Island - long live for free car ferry, but you could... we discovered a neat maritime museum by the ferry instead.

All the spaces are concrete slab, there are a few pull throughs. We had no problems getting in or out, plenty of room for our 38 footer class A. I think they have places where even a 45 foot will easily get in and out, think they try to give you sites that are best fit for your rig. Rest rooms and facilities are very well maintained. There is a playground area set up for smaller children, because its location is near to the road, it is fenced, I would recommend an adult be present for young children. They do have lots of sports equipped areas for older kids and adults, refer to the webpage or brochures. We were not far from oceanside and was just one row of campers between us and it. There are a few sheltered areas also several bathrooms with showers that are cleaned a couple times a day. No issue with anything at this campground other than mother nature could have been kinder, lots of winds and fairly rough surf etc, lots of folks had their surfboards out and most people were staying in there chairs and blankets on the nice sandy beaches, a few ventured into the water for fun, it wasn't all that bad. I will probably go there again if we venture out to Hatteras. I would have felt better about it if the price per day had been just a little cheaper. 99 a day, (with a veterans discount?), could nearly have paid for a condo out there. 80 would have been more acceptable. Only bad thing about the site overall was the little round burs that will stick to your feet and are pretty painful, please wear some kind of flipfliops or sandals while in the grassy areas of the spaces.

Try to get a space close to the office if you want good wifi or else it'll be like 25% of the time near the middle or oceanfront. Don't expect the data rate to be good enough to watch videos. They have a section on the sound side of the highway 12. If you want more peaceful waters to play in we were there. We camped at Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed on the "sound" side rather than ocean. You actually have a view of the water and gorgeous sunsets. The ocean side has dunes which are nice but you have to get over them to get to the beach and see the ocean. Nice pool. Bathrooms and showers very accessible. Sites are level and plenty of room to maneuver. We would stay here again. We camped at Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Great Chinese restaurant close by - Boardwok. Hatteras lighthouse not far. Wright brothers monument was a bit of a drive but good to see. Lots of restaurants at that end of the strip. Beware of the wind if you put your awning out.

One of the better RV parks we've been to on our North American trip. Wide paved roads, paved pads, we chose the closest spot to the ocean on the front row, well worth a couple extra dollars. This park is secured and gated. Friendly staff, as long as you're friendly! I say this as another guy who came into the office right after me; he was grumpy right from the get go; he had the gall to ask for double discount (Good Sam and AAA). C'mon buddy!! Nobody gets double discounts. Don't be a grump!! When I see people complain on rvparkreviews I wonder really what they were expecting. I believe I give honest reviews as anyone looking on this website should get. Anyways, this is a good park for the money!! Only reason I didn't give a 10 is that its not "pristine". We camped at Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We spent four nights here and it is a very nice campground, one of the nicest campgrounds we've ever been to. We were right next to the ocean. Concrete parking pads with all amenities available. Not crowded at all. The only negative that we found was it is a little pricey and they charge for your dogs (not a deposit that you can get back either) but we would definitely stay here again. This is the premier park on the OBX, but it is getting a bit pricey, particularly if you are only there to camp and use the beach, as we were. Not sure with their rates why they charge extra for each dog, cable, etc. If you have kids, there is plenty for them to do besides the beach. The sound side is much better to camp on as you can see the water and watch the sunsets. On the beach side, you cannot see the ocean from the campsites because of the dunes, and it is much busier. We loved the location of this park, and our visit in May was perfect. Lovely weather and just before peak season, so not too crowded and not too expensive. We loved walking and fishing on the beach, and loved the bike riding trails along the roadways. Our site was spacious, with plenty of grass around and room to spread out. Interior roads were very wide and easy to navigate, and everything was well marked. The pools and hot tub complex was lovely and well-maintained. We liked everything about this place and would definitely go back! We camped at Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

On the beach need I say more? Had trouble with an AC unit, front desk informed me to a trailer across the street that sold RV parts. He didn't have what I needed but he directed me to Routs 12 RV repair and they did! Staff was very helpful. We camped at Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

We had a spot right on the water. One side you can walk over dunes to beach -other side you see water but there is no beach. Pricey for sure but we liked location. Park not crowded due to season. Big rigs no problems. Laundry and restrooms/showers available. Very clean. We camped at Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Rude check-in staff. The rest of the crew seems nice. Forget the oceanview sites, all you see are dunes and you can see them from anywhere in the camp. Sites were OK sized and level. Cement pads were good. Not a lick of shade anywhere. Back-in ONLY. There is very little in the immediate area, so be prepared to drive or bring your own. The 'world class' claim is a joke. I have stayed in far better places far less expensive with more around them to do. Pool was closed due to weather, understood. But the indoor pool too? I was unaware. A word of caution to the disabled, there are few local business that have ramps. Most businesses have a few steps up to keep them out of storm surge and they have all been grandfathered for ADA. Be prepared to sit in the car a lot. We camped at Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Excellent park but only stayed there because everyone else was full on the weekend. Would have stayed longer than two nights except for the price. Wide open, no shade and windy. But right on the beach and didn't expect any more than that. Had a nice stay. Beach and sound were extremely accessible from anywhere in the park. Outdoor pool was almost as warm as the hot tub. That's good for the outdoor pool but bad for the hot tub. Super beach just over the dune. We camped at Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

My husband and I stayed here . The campground is oceanfront with the sound across the street which has additional campsites. The sites were skinny, but we had no one next to us for most of our stay which was nice. We used the pools, inside and out, and the Jacuzzi, which were all clean. We also played the 9-hole mini-golf course and played a game of regular pool in the small game room. It is far from everything (which I knew before we left) - over 30 miles to Nags Head for general shopping, although there is a Dollar General down the block and other small stores. There were a few nice restaurants nearby to eat. It was a nice relaxing vacation. We camped at Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
