The staff was extremely friendly and helpful from the moment we pulled in. The park was very clean and very well cared for. Enjoyed the pool every afternoon. Met lots of friendly people. We camped at Wilmington KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We found a great restaurant at The Boathouse. Topsail Island is only 20 miles north and well worth the drive. We found a couple of free parking public beach areas there. Bit of a drive to get to the beaches, but close to Publix, Walmart and dining options.

There are not many choices in the Wilmington area for a large Class A like ours but overall we found this to a good place to spend a couple of weeks. We had a nice pull-thru site that was just long enough for our MH and toad. Utilities worked fine and were well-positioned. They have cable TV and WiFi but we didn't use either. Trash is picked up daily at your site and they have recycling bins - which we really like - in the central garbage collection area. We were in Wilmington during an unusually hot period (mid to upper 90's). Our site faced east and we had to keep our front shade closed a good bit of the day. There are virtually no trees around so the sun was pretty brutal. There is a nice dog park for pets and a jumping pad and a train ride for the kids. We found the park staff to be very friendly and helpful. Overall this is a typical KOA park - overpriced and nothing special, but it can handle the largest of rigs which is important for us. Interesting fact about this campground: A friend of ours who was in the movie industry in Wilmington years ago said he worked on a movie that was filmed at this KOA. The movie was about a nudist colony!! Never got the name of the movie though. The campground is on a very busy main road. The entrance is between a Speedway gas station and a car wash. The KOA sign is not very big. When leaving the park turning left is almost impossible. But there are several ways to get back to the interstate and other highways by turning right and heading toward town. We camped at Wilmington KOA in a Motorhome.

One of two cg in the immediate Wilmington area. We stay here anytime we are in the area to visit family. They seem to be improving it as the dog park was very nice this time. Clean, tubes and jumping bars, more importantly, grass to keep the dog from turning sandy black. Getting in and out of the park can be challenging. Traffic is very heavy on Market Street with 4 lanes of traffic and a suicide lane to assist in left turns. Much patience is needed with a 45' coach and a toad. Sigh. We camped at Wilmington KOA in a Motorhome.

Very nice park, especially for families. Sites were relatively large for a private park. Pool was quite nice-we spent a lot of time there. Also nice play area, bounce pillow, and even a dog park. Staff was very friendly and quit efficient. We camped at Wilmington KOA in a Motorhome.

There is lots to do in Wilmington, including the USS North Carolina and Wrightsville Beach. Carolina Beach and the Aquarium are not too far away. But this time, we just hung out at the campground and enjoyed the pool.

Staff is super friendly and this park is a surprise as we drove through what seemed like the middle of town during rush hour. But as soon as we entered the park it was like an oasis. Quiet, clean, spacious. The dog park is big and has some obstacles for the dog to play on and plenty of room to throw a ball. They have a big bouncy pad, volleyball court, tetherball, playground and a nice pool. The site was concrete and big enough for my big rig. It was also level. Hookups were close and easy. Sites are spacious and well kept. I've stayed at at least 15 KOAs and this is the best one. I will stay here again. We camped at Wilmington KOA in a Motorhome.

We generally steer clear of KOAs but when it's the only game in town there is no choice. We were pleasantly surprised despite the typical high price tag. The staff is among the best of any campground we've stayed. They are very friendly and yet professional. You leave your trash by your site, and someone dutifully comes along and picks it up. The only issue was that the squirrels were very curious and would pick apart the trash if it wasn't picked up quickly. There is fair spacing between sites but not all are easy to get in/out for big rigs due to trees and other obstacles. We barely fit with our 45 footer and had to park the toad sideways. When we left, we had to back out of our pull thru site and hook up the car in one of the interior roads. The site was fairly level requiring mostly side to side adjustments. The premium sites appear best for larger rigs. The interior roads and sites are the dreaded crushed white rock base. Your vehicles and your feet will attract the chalky stuff. I will never understand (except for cost I assume) why any campground would use this stuff. There is some noise from the very busy Market Street - more or less depending on your site location. The WiFi actually worked (gasp), and worked decently enough. We couldn't use our satellite due to trees; however, they have cable. Verizon coverage was 4g-2 bars. We would stay again due to close proximity to family, the beaches, and downtown Wilmington. We camped at Wilmington KOA in a Motorhome.

We have not had very good luck at KOAs especially those located inside the boundary a large town or city. However, this KOA was a very pleasant surprise. When visiting Wilmington, there are not may options close to town and this park is an excellent choice. Yes, it's located on a busy road but most of the time you'll be making a right turn out of the park. There are many good restaurants within just a few miles. Sites are gravel but level and well maintained. There is a dog park and several organized activities for children. In addition to RV sites, this park has quite a few cabins for rent. We found this park to be very well run and an enjoyable stay. Recommended. We camped at Wilmington KOA in a Motorhome.

The azalea festival occurs in April with festive activities including a nice parade. If you attend the parade, arrive at the parade route 1-2 hours early. Recommend visiting the battleship North Carolina while you are there.

Stayed here for business trip. Little difficult to get in/out due to traffic on Market St. Quick check-in. Good pull thru site; WIFI; cable. Clean, but very sandy. Little pricey, but so are most KOA's. We camped at Wilmington KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Very clean and well maintained. All wide gravel roads with a mix of patio sites, back ins and pull thrus. WiFi was fair and we ended up using our hotspots. Site was wide and easy back in and plenty of room for slides and tow car. Biggest negative is the neighborhood. Park is on a 4 lane commercial road which is very very busy. Lots of noise pretty much 24/7. Need to run a white noise machine or fans to deaden but with windows open that does not do much. Park adjoins very busy 7 bay car wash (which can handle the motorhome) and this created more noise. The car wash owner runs a commercial leaf blower usually starting a 7 am to blow the large parking lot every day. It runs for hours. But park is only game in town and is very convenient to all the activities in the Wilmington area. Traffic is very heavy much of the time. If you can reserve a site make sure it is in the last row(s) as far as possible from the street side. We camped at Wilmington KOA in a Motorhome.

This KOA is improving itself. They have grass in the dog park now so our dog did not come back black from the dirt like our last visit. We also paid for a concrete pad site this time which helped keep some sand out of our coach. We have friends just 10 minutes down the road which is why we pay so much for staying. I wish someone would explain why KOAs are so expensive. This KOA is adding sites but the construction was not noticeable. Will be staying again. We camped at Wilmington KOA in a Motorhome.

Averaged $55 per night: weekday, weekend and Thanksgiving rates, very confusing. Excellent staff, very helpful. Sites are close together. A LOT of traffic outside of campground on Rte. 17. Neighbors next door had four very loud barking dogs that barked at everything that went by there camper, all day long, no barking dog policy in campground. Overall the campground is one of the nicest, cleanest KOAs I have stayed in. Staff is awesome and always available. Best Camp Store I have ever seen, KOA or elsewhere. Will be back next year, hopefully without the barking dogs. Also rented a Deluxe cabin for the kids, very nice, good space for two, gets a little crowded with three, fully furnished, great little cabin put overpriced. Could have got a hotel room for much less. We camped at Wilmington KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed 2 nights. Overall very nice. We had a gravel/rock pad with a deluxe concrete patio site. Sites were level and well maintained with good gravel/rock coverage. The bathhouse was very nice and spotless. The office had a well-stocked store and their laundry room was outstanding with newer washers and dryers and enough of both and a waiting area with comfortable furniture a TV and magazines, just off of the main office area. The Staff was great and very helpful. We camped at Wilmington KOA in a Motorhome.

One of the best KOA's we have stayed in and we have been cross country three times. We did reserve a patio site, and it was a little over priced but after a couple horrible campgrounds we were ready for a nice site. Super clean and I'm glad I didn't take my credit card into the general store!! I would be broke. They are super nice and we definitely will be back. We camped at Wilmington KOA in a Motorhome.
