Loch Lomond was a comfortable campground a couple kilometers west of Amherst, and about half an hour's drive to Joggins Fossil Cliffs. The park is laid out on an undulating, lightly wooded hill beside a small lake. My particular site was oddly placed in the center of a doughnut, with RVs all around. In order to get to my site in the first place, I had to drive through another site that happened to be empty. In order to leave, I had to drive through what appeared to be the yard associated with another RV. Everything worked out all right; it just felt weird. We camped at Loch Lomond RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

My wife & I spent 2 nights here in our 35 ft 5th wheel. Heading back to Maine after 5 weeks in NS. We had a 3-way pull through, C22. The overall Park is only so-so and Blair Lake is hyper eutrophic, that would be nutrient polluted. There is a -3 ft high blue fence around the lake @ the RV Park, & when I asked the office about it the lady told me it was to reduce the wind! Right, don't you just love it. The PROs, the bathrooms/showers & laundromat are all new and wonderful, a 10 on a 10 scale. There is NO CABLE. We got 2 local stations on antenna TV, which we much appreciated. Amherst is a blue collar town, fine. Duncan's pub was nice, although the seafood chowder is way over rated on Tripadvisor. Wouldn't want to spend a lot of days here, but it is perfectly fine for a few days for travelers to/from NS. We camped at Loch Lomond RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We were here with 13 other motorhomes for a rally. The hosts were more than helpful and generous. It is a lovely campground on a lake. Everything is well kept and clean. We camped at Loch Lomond RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Amherst is a lovely small town. There are well done murals all over. Look for Deanne Fitzpatrick's rug hooking shop! Nearby is Joggins, and Tidnish Bridge with a suspension bridge along the rails to trails. If you make the loop through Pugwash, stop at Nelly's Diner. But you might just prefer to relax and enjoy the campground. Canadian Tire and Sobeys grocery store are a 1 minute drive.

Aug 2017 Nice well managed park with friendly staff, well spaced sites, concrete pad on grass, good internal roads, near level sites very little shade. Good clean unisex modular bathrooms, but cost $1 for shower. 3 tv stations but could not get cable reception, good wifi most of the time. Close to town and most facilities. We camped at Loch Lomond RV Park in a Motorhome.

Just stayed one night passing though. Had Pull through site on grass which was a little hard to level on but found the sweet spot. Everything worked well, bathrooms/showers were clean and wifi was fine. Did not use the pool but it looked good. Would stay again and probably for longer to use as base to explore N.Umberland Sound towns and Annapolis Valley. We camped at Loch Lomond RV Park in a Motorhome.

This park is mostly seasonals with a small, unlevel, area for transients. Our motorhome needed several boards and ended up with the front wheels off the ground. We camped at Loch Lomond RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Joggins Fossil Park is the nearby attraction and well worth a half a day. After viewing the exhibits, taking a formal tour of the beach-side cliffs, particularly the two-hour session, is highly recommended. Tour availability is determined by the timing of low tide, so check in advance. Lunch in the park's cafe was good.

Overall Rating:

This is a very nice park. IT is quiet and spacious. It was easy access to the highway. It has nice navigatable roads and spacious lots. Our lot had a concrete patio and a new picnic table. Everything was well maintained, trimmed, and clean. The restrooms were immaculate, each one having it's own shower. The showers cost $1 for 10 mins. The laundry room is very nice too. The costs were $2 ea wash and dry CAD. They had a nice pool and game room.

It's misleading though to brag about being on the lake, when there is only one small set of steps leading to a small dock that go to the lake. It is a very limited access and view of the lake.

The only other drawback is that they do not have a keypad enry and you have to wait for the office person to see you and open the gate.

We stayed 2 nights in a 35' motorehome, with tow dolly.

We plan to stop here again on our way back through. We highly recommend this park. We camped at Loch Lomond RV Park in a Motorhome.

These showers (cost $1 Loonies only for 10 minutes) were the nicest I have seen. Amherst is a good stopping point if taking the ferry to PEI.

$37CDN = $28 U.S. when we were there. Nice level grass site near the office and entrance. The site was called pullthrough, but was on the very edge of a STEEP dropoff, looking out over the rest of the campground. A lovely view for the five nights we were here. To pull out I had to back the truck under the kingpin at a steep angle and snatch the trailer out. It worked, but not exactly what you normally think of as pullthrough.
All facilities are well maintained including a large playground with lots of kids.
We will stay here again. We camped at Loch Lomond RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

It is a long drive to the tide viewing site on the other side of the Bay of Fundy. Halifax or Cape Breton are doable as day trips. All services are available in Amherst.

I may be in the minority but I cannot give this site a positive review. It was very crowded with mainly full timers. The bathrooms were about the nicest I have seen in any campground - except for the sign on the wall that showers were $1.00 (Looney only, exact change needed). No where to get change - showers are in same building as the laundry but it didn't have a change machine either.

Internet was great! I was able to get on in record time, kicked off even faster! The longest I, or others could get on, was about 30 seconds. This is unacceptable in 2015.

Definitely would not stay there again or recommend it to others. We camped at Loch Lomond RV Park in a Motorhome.

Older campground with narrow roads and narrow sites. We had a backin site and had difficulty getting in because the crushed stone pad is so narrow. Once set up there's a 10 inch drop off from the crushed stone to the grass area surrounding it. Staff is excellent and well informed about local activities. We camped at Loch Lomond RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The campsite is a small camp just off the 104 Highway and within 2 Kilometers of Amherst. It is situated on a lake, but the water does not look that clean. The restrooms are well maintained and in very good condition. Each restroom includes toilet, sink and shower and is self contained and locked. There are laundry facilities on site at a reasonable cost. We camped at Loch Lomond RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

What's not to like! Took us less than 60 seconds to check in and get our site! We took a walk around and saw a very neat and tidy campground. The sites are very well maintained. The seasonal campers obviously take great pride in their campsites and the campground. We are not convinced the lake is for swimming but the pool is very nice. Will definitely return. We stayed the night here and had no problems. WiFi worked well and there were brand new bathrooms, like your home bathroom with shower. The roads are paved and in great condition. Very few people in here this early in the season so I do not know how crowded the sites would be. We camped at Loch Lomond RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
