This is one of the seven self-registration campgrounds in Nova Scotia, which means that there are minimal staff on site, primarily for maintenance purposes. This means there are few, if any staff run activities at this park. However, this campground participates in the campground host program, so hosts are available to assist and answer campers questions. While reservations can be made online, onsite self registration is easy with a free 'yellow' phone at the park entrance that connects you to a reservation clerk. There is no reservation fee for onsite reservations.

Cell phone coverage within the park is almost non-existent, though you may be able to get a signal at the entrance to the park. There also is a payphone and spotty Internet access at the entrance at the park entrance. All sites are unserviced, with most sites being grass covered and quite large. There is a dump station with a hose for black tank flushes and there are water spigots throughout the park for filling your fresh water tank. The campground tends to fill-up on weekends but during the weekdays that we were there in mid-July, there were only half a dozen other campers. There is a clean washroom with free hot showers and a dishwashing station.

There is a day use picnic area near the entrance to the park, but separate from the campground.

The nearby town of Windsor has all the services you might need. A short distance from the campground on NS 14 there is a gas station that sells diesel, has a NS liquor outlet, and small convenience store. Good luck trying to enter the address of the campground into your GPS as there are two Brooklyn's in Nova Scotia. Ask for directions when making your reservation. We camped at Smileys Provincial Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for one night. The sites were very spacious. The washrooms were kept exceptionally clean. There were only 5 campers registered for the night we were here, which we found a little too quiet. We moved on the next day. The park really is quite nice, I don't know why it isn't more popular. We camped at Smileys Provincial Park in a Tent Trailer.

We tented on site 58 for 2 nights. during the week, this park is VERY quiet with not many campers, however as Friday came the park filled up. Due to large sites, you did not feel crowded and still managed to enjoy yourself. We opted for an open site, there are many water spigots to fill up or get dishes done. RV's might need to "rough it" however, the park is worth it for privacy & sound Spotty GSM cell reception, satellite radio was no problem. We camped at Smileys Provincial Park in a Tent.

Hidden gem within the provincial park system. This is about 20 kms from Windsor, NS which allows you to do quick supply runs and from there only a 10 min drive to Wolfville. GSM cell phone reception is spotty but you can make a call once you find a signal. Most of the sites are open, but wooded areas are 13-17, 25-45 provide heavy shade. Sites 50-86 are the closest to the flush & showers which are well maintained. As with most provincial parks, the sites are very wide. There are a couple of swimming spots along the river within the park. We camped at Smileys Provincial Park in a Tent.
