Beautiful campground with spectacular ocean views and spacious, pretty sites. Many of the sites are tiered in such a way that the views are unobstructed even with a neighbor nearby. In our opinion, Sites 20-28 have the best views and can easily accommodate large units. No sewer hookups at this CG but 30amp and water at our site. No seasonal sites, but this is a very popular getaway for local Nova Scotians. There is a nice walking/jogging trail around the park. Wifi is available in the office. The little one-lane bridge to access the island could use some smoothing out. I would have rated this CG a 10, but the bathrooms were not very clean and full of bugs every day. Too many spiders for me to feel comfortable showering. That being said, we highly recommend this campground. We camped at Graves Island Provincial Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Good central CG to drive Scenic Route 3 (Lighthouse Route) to visit sites such as Peggy's Cove, Mahone Bay, Lunenburg and Blue Rocks. The Swiss Air 111 memorial near Peggy's Cove was beautiful and moving. We LOVED riding bikes at Salt Marsh trail in Dartmouth. Traffic to Halifax was pretty rough but worth a day trip. Quite a ways from Kejimkujik National Park Seashore (almost 2 hour drive), but we enjoyed the day trip very much.

Love the campground and views. My complaints are noise and the lack of weekend supervision after 10:30pm. No one on duty after that hour. We put up with large groups of loud parties till 2am. Others were disturbed as well. The groups were not teens but adults. Another issue is firecrackers, fireworks.....not controlled and we especially went there to avoid as pets can't tolerate them. Other than noise which kept us up all night we loved it. We camped at Graves Island Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.

Pretty park on small island with trees and gorgeous views of surrounding bay. Easy and friendly check-in. Long, level site with easily accessible utilities. No sewer but convenient two island dump station. Short, narrow road into the park and single lane bridge, but very little traffic so easy to navigate even for large class A. Centrally located for short trips to Mahone Bay, Lunenburg, Peggy's Cove and Halifax. We camped at Graves Island Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The campground is on a small island, and the view is fantastic (if you manage to book a View Site *and* the weather cooperates). It was often foggy while we were there. The bathroom / shower was clean but old -- definitely not to the standard of better RV parks. The dish sink was close to the bathroom / shower building, which was quite far away from our site. The campground is gated and require an access card to open. There is a deposit for the access card. We camped at Graves Island Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a gem of a Provincial park, and is very well maintained and thoughtfully laid out. The interior road is gravel as was our very spacious level back in site, and big rig access was good. Very quiet with lots of privacy, shade trees, grass, fire pit and picnic table, plenty of space for our towed too. The view from our site was spectacular, water views in every direction. Bathrooms were modern clean and spacious, no laundry There is a security gate 24/7 which was very reassuring, and you are given your own pass card. Very pet friendly and lots of trails to walk your pet, on a leash of course. We could not get any WiFi but cell was okay. Chester is a wonderful town, with food stores, great restaurants and very unique shops, lots to see and do in this area. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Graves Island Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed for two periods of 3 nights, two adults and a Golden Retriever. This is a lovely Provincial campground and, unlike many of the others, the loop with water and electricity is not just an open field with the sites lined up resembling a car park. No, here the area has been planned and the sites are well spaced, angled for privacy, level and graveled. The unserviced loops are also attractive. Many have lovely views of the beautiful Mahone Bay and Islands. You pay a refundable $3 for a pass card to lift the barrier and so do not get the annoying drive bys of non campers. The bathroom block is not large but we do not use it so cannot really comment. WiFi only available at the office. There is a well defined and surfaced trail all around the island and picnic places with sea access. We love this park and it is our 'go to' place often throughout the summer! We camped at Graves Island Provincial Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for 5 nights in Aug. 2011. We loved the campground. We stayed in site 628 so we had a water view. It was a tight fit to get the trailer in. It was a little rowdy on the weekend with tent folks in the row in front of us but the security was great in quieting them down. The washrooms were kept really clean the whole time we were there. Be prepared, the place was packed on the weekend. It was overall a quiet place for the number of people there. We camped at Graves Island Provincial Park in a Tent Trailer.

A very nice location. Try to get a site on top of the hill with ocean view. The crew was making the park ready for the weekend, so there was a lot of noise for 2 hours from lawnmowers. Has a helpful staff. We camped at Graves Island Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Camped in site 69 which is one of the few wooded sites: you have 4 crab apple trees from which to tent. The singage is hard to find, and you are behind 2 other site, but the privacy is nice. Not really room for RV or trailer, but for tenting and hammock camping, this is a nice spot. A bit of a walk to the comfort station (flush), but a few pots nearby. We camped at Graves Island Provincial Park in a Tent.

Overall Rating:

Stayed on site #32. Can't believe how much space there is on each site. The extra space between sites is appreciated considering the lack of tree cover. The Alcohol Ban is in effect, but not an issue. The campground is quiet, deathly quiet at night. If you are looking for a nice quiet park, this is the place. Dogs & kids have lots of green space to play at the front of the park. The park is undergoing a forest regeneration project, so they cut down many of the dead spruce trees and is replacing them with a traditional Acadian Forest mix. However, the cleared areas provides great views of coastline. The park is also planning some major upgrades in the next few years. Facilities are top notch, the showers were HOT and clean. The online reservation is painless and check-in takes 2 minutes. This park will be a top destination in a few years once all the projects are completed. We camped at Graves Island Provincial Park in a Tent.

Park Management who are on site during the week are very friendly. Staff on the weekend are a little younger so in the morning, a little grumpy - however overall staff experience was above average. We had site #34 and for an open site, was very wide, other campers were not on top of us. During May-July 2, no alcohol is permitted and is enforced by armed conservation officers. This provided us with a very quiet stay. Facilities were clean and enjoyed the walking trail around the island. Short drive to Chester. One of our favorite spots. Online reservation system is in place. We camped at Graves Island Provincial Park in a Tent.

Only complaint is the staff . For Provincial Park they were very unfriendly and spent more time sitting in their own trailer then at the sites . Did keep garbage locked up however ran out of available firewood on a Friday night . Dis not seem concerned. Site has a campground host who is available and were friendly. Great local spots for drives and excursions. Lots of local beauty sites. We camped at Graves Island Provincial Park in a Fifth Wheel.
