6 RV Parks near Five Islands, Nova Scotia
Sep 2015 - $26.00
At the time of the writing of this review the park is undergoing the final stage (hopefully) of a 2-year re-development. Unfortunately, the planned addition of EW sites was one of the victims of recent provincial budget cuts.
This is a lovely Provincial campground and staff do an excellent job of maintaining the grounds and keeping the washrooms very clean. The entry road into the campground has been re-surfaced, so unlike many provincial parks, it is a smooth drive in. With the exception of the road to the day use area, the interior roads are gravel and in good condition. Sites in loop B (#45-84) tend to be on the smaller side and best for Class B, C, popups and tents. Loop A & C will be able to accommodate larger rigs. All sites are unserviced but there are pit toilets and water spigots throughout the campground. As well, there is a washroom with free hot water showers, flush toilets, and electric outlets. All sites include a picnic table and firepit. Firewood ($) and ice ($) are available. There is cell phone coverage throughout the park for those with Aliant (Bell), but apparently Rogers customers do not have coverage. Supposedly there is free WiFi at the office but it was not operational during our stay.
There are three trails within the park as well as great clam digging on the shore in the day use area. There is a dump station, however, because of the type of fitting at the end of the hose, black tank flushes are not possible. - driftdiver1
Jun 2011 - $33.00
There are possibilities to get sites with limited water view. Has nice surroundings but sites are a little rough but should not scare you away. - nto
Jul 2008 - $20.00
Nice basic provincial park. The access to the Bay of Fundy tidal flats is the big attraction. Recent renovations on the top half now provide better sites for RV's than in the past. - robvann
Sep 2016 - $30.00
If it hadn't been for the Bay of Fundy and Tides we probably would have stayed at the Provincial Campground. As mentioned, the view of the bay was absolutely awesome.
The new owner most likely has numerous projects for upgrades but seems he was just getting started.
Our site provided a beautiful full view of the bay and enjoyed waking to this each morning.
As mentioned - grocery stores not close by.
Washrooms/showers/laundry in need of some real TLC
As campers came and went, there was no staff checking or cleaning the sites - thanks goodness for thoughtful campers. - Officer Bobby
Sep 2016 - $35.00
From your campsite, a huge expanse of Bay of Fundy mud flats opens up as the tide falls. Few can resist walking in the mud, which is thick enough to suck off shoes. The secret to easy movement is to walk in the stream beds that form as low tide approaches. Most sites have good views, but trees encroach beginning with front row spots above #15. There's a new owner and pets are now allowed. - Mtmoi
Jul 2016 - $35.00
Ocean view was excellent. Nice, comfortable and quiet campground. Full facilities. Pool, fire pit, showers, and toilets. Very friendly owners. Some amenities nearby. We would stay there again.
Beautiful and pleasant campground. Although a little on the pricey side, still worth it. - B G
Jul 2016 - $32.00
Beautiful ocean view. Sites were level. No sewer, but dump site was very accessible on the way out. Quiet and comfortable. Fire pits and private. Water smelled so could only wash dishes, would not even try to shower. Talked to other campers on other side of campground and they said their water was fine. Had to back in to site but was easy enough, lots of room. Overall a very nice campground. We would camp there again. - B G
May 2015 - $35.00
We stayed with 3 other rigs over the Victoria Day weekend. This is a friendly campground and check in was easy. There are a number of seasonal sites, but they seem to have left the best ones for visitors. We had a good end site, with an unobstructed view of the Bay and a large grassy area in front of us. The site was of a decent size, although some were smaller, with a grassy surface. We did not use the washrooms but others in our group did and commented that they needed renovation. We could not get the WiFi at our site, although I understand it was accessible closer to the office and entrance. A nice place to stay. - The Pulfs
Sep 2013 - $30.00
Friendly park. New campsites overlooking Bay of Fundy. Awesome views. Some seasonals, but well kept sites, even gardens. Close to Parrsboro and best seafood restaurant on the shore. Will stay again. - ORNS
May 2014 - $26.00
This is a very nice Provincial Park with fantastic views! There are trails down to view the beach during low tide and the tide fluxuates 40+/- feet twice each day. The hill going up to the campground is very steep so you need a good head start if pulling a heavy RV. They have wooded sites as well as open meadow sites. We were in site #74 which had an amazing view and I think it was the best in the park. Site #74 is supposed to accommodate an RV up to 30 feet long but you could easily put a larger one on it as long as you park parallel to the road. The only problem with this site is that it can get very windy up there, but the view is one you will not forget. Very nice folks run the park and the campground is very quiet and well maintained. The roads leading to the park are very rough but if you like "dry camping" and are in this area you should really try it out. I gave it a 9 only because the trails needed some attention but that could have been because we were there early in the season. - troutslayer
Aug 2016 - $39.00
Definitely family oriented, many children but so very quiet overnight, and grounds are kept very clean. Many residents gather in the evening for congenial campfire chats. 50 amp service and WiFi were both slightly overpowered at peak times, but a surge protector is invaluable in these situations when everyone needs A/C. Wonderful location as tour base. - B and B
Jul 2016 - $49.00
Park is mostly catering to seasonal campers. The campsites for daily/weekly campers are varying in size. Don't bother asking which site or trying to reserve a site they will not tell you. Section B where we stayed is best suited for small trailers in the range of Popup campers or at the most a 19 to 23 foot trailer. The owners were putting 32 foot motor homes and 32 foot fifth wheels in spots not big enough to get in. I don't know what the travelers would have done if we had not been at our site to move our vehicles or guide them in. Fire pits are a few feet from your RV when you do get it in so you have no chance of enjoying all the amenities of camping. If you plan on staying connected to the electronic world while you are here do no rely on their "free internet" it is impossible to get on or stay connected to it. As for Television, there are 2 local digital channels available. We experienced issues with the power box tripping with only the AC and one other electrical appliance plugged in. My fifth wheel was drawing less than 20-25 amps at the time.
Our first stay here more than 10 years ago was much more accommodating and this will probably be the last time we go here. - Andrew Hampson
Jun 2016 - $42.00
In typical Maritime fashion, we were met warmly. Arriving on a weekend, the campground was packed though quiet in the evening. The sites were very close together and mainly for this reason, we felt the park was overpriced. We were grateful to receive Passport America rate for weeknights. The location is easy to access. The sites are level gravel. WiFi was good. Showers cost $1.00! - rvbravo2
Aug 2015 - $39.00
Called a family campground for a reason. LOTS for kids to do. Spacious sites with a fair amount of trees. - ta96silver
Oct 2014 - $35.00
The owners and staff are friendly, accommodating, dedicated and professional. This is a fabulous family location with safe sites and fun activities for kids and adults including a jumping pillow, slippery slide and large swimming pool. The facilities are clean and we really appreciate clean. We have stayed here in July and August and have decided to apply for a seasonal site, hopefully for the 2015 season, but they have a waiting list. We are really excited and can't wait to see if we get in. - lcampo
Aug 2014 - $40.00
Place was crazy with kids. Perfect for them, didn't work so well for us. Wi-Fi wasn't working. Pull-through site adequate but very tight. Went there unplanned so did not know what to expect. We did get out of the pouring rain. Many very happy "seasonals". We were in a 36' rig. Would not return. Rowdy crowd. - M&MLuna
