We are full time, year round RVers. First time at this park, the only one open in May that is near by Peggy's Cove. The one other is not open till June. This operation "Wayside" has absolutely NO Management and next to nil on the maintenance side. Garbage cans overflowing, the main house entering the grounds is a disaster, open gas cans all over, tires, junk everywhere!! Could be a wonderful park with some management and maintenance happening. Don't even bother trying to phone, no one will answer! Would definitely NEVER recommend this park! We camped at Wayside Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Peggy's Cove about a 15 km drive, if motorhoming you would need to take your rig as too far to hike it. Always windy here, but it is the coast line.

We booked during the winter to get front row site overlooking the bay....fantastic view. Campground has 150 sites. Close to Peggy's Cove. Right on scenic coastline route. Half hour to Halifax tourist sites. Nice owners willing to help. We camped at Wayside Campground in a Motorhome.

Swissair 111 flight memorial nearby....very well done. Very humbling experience. Peggy's Cove...gotta be on your list to visit. Very busy here, but worth it if the weather co-operates. Various tourist sites in nearby Halifax or Lunenburg.

Park is dated/rundown and mostly full of seasonal and long term campers in the woods/hills behind the office but there are a few decent level and open 50 amp full hookup campsites for short term guests at the front of the park. Interior roads are gravel and sites are grass/gravel. Sites have a fire ring and picnic table. Our site #33 was level and able to fit my 45 ft motorhome. Although about half in the woods fortunately we could get satellite, as there is no cable. WiFi was slow but worked OK most of the time. The park is close to Peggy's Cove (5 miles) and reasonably close to Halifax (25 miles) and Lunenburg (55 miles). We camped at Wayside Campground in a Motorhome.

Campground is mostly seasonal. Owners were friendly and helpful. Our site which was near the main road to Peggy's Cove was very busy. Lots of fast traffic and noise. But we new this before we arrived. Enjoyed our site despite the traffic. We'll be back to the campground. We camped at Wayside Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This park is mostly seasonal permanent sites. Transient sites have a good view of the nearby waterfront, however the view is across the main highway so traffic noise can be a factor.

WIFI was available, however it was only available at the office hotspot. OK for email and texting, but sitting outside limited our usage due to rain and mosquitoes.

Management ranged from friendly to indifferent with individual managers.

Washers and dryers are limited to a nearby Laundromat that is on the property, but open to the public and thus, not the cleanest.

If we were to visit the area again, we would likely try another campground in the area. We camped at Wayside Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Peggy's Cove is on everyone's list and certainly a place to visit. It is somewhat of a disappointment to see it so heavily commercialized now compared to our visit years ago. Parking is a circus.

Highly recommend a visit to the nearby towns of Mahone Bay and Lunenberg.

Rustic park which is what we like, spacious sites Park was built 50 years ago, but is room for larger rigs, generally tidy and quite. The park is Family run, very friendly. Great place to park and use as a home base, we stayed for 6 nights, the wifi was fantastic the first 2 days and then there was an issue. We camped at Wayside Campground in a Motorhome.

I gave a one star due to the showers. The showers were absolutely disgusting. They are so old and mouldy. There are bugs and spiders all over and I mean lots not just one or two. I walked into one shower and right at face level were 2 huge spiders hanging from a strand. I went to another stall. Still spiders but at least not hanging in my face. The ceilings are all open to an attic full of bugs. The walls were pieced together. The shower stalls were so small you could not bend over. The floors and walls were dirty. One plus was there was very hot water. Actually too hot. Some child is going to get scalded. The taps leaked so out of the hot water tap would be running scalding hot water. One had to make sure you weren't under the tap. Truly the worst showers I have seen in 45 years of camping. The park itself was OK. Power post falling out of ground. Water tap leaked. Site smelled like sewer even though there was no sewer connection. There was a swampy sewer smell behind the site. They advertise WiFi but it does not work. I questioned them about the wifi and the guy said oh yeah it does not work very well and it costs too much to make it work. I said it does not work at all. He said come to the office and you might get on. Terrible attitude. Why advertise free wifi? We camped at Wayside Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Peggy's Cove, Lunenburg, Halifax. Turn left Out of the park and visit the dude in the painted house. Nee is a real character. I bought his book and a photo. Very talented man. Has lived in the house his whole life. I believe it was his grandmas house. Worth a visit. You can walk there as right next door.

Rate is Canadian $ and is combination weekly and daily rate. When we made reservation it was for one week with the possibility of extending it another week. We ended up staying 2½ weeks. When we pulled in there was someone outside the office that directed us immediately around the bend. (After being here awhile we saw why, as the office is only about 100' off of the road and there were times that RVs would be coming in one after the other, even though they were not traveling together).

Our site was a semi pull through (we could have squeaked out but the turn onto the road would have been difficult with our 39' motorhome. It was just easier to back out as there was a lot of room).

Our front window faced the water so we had a real nice view though the road is between the park and the water. Traffic can get 'busy' on the road every now and then, but it was tolerable (1 car every 2 or 3 minutes). The site was gravel with patches of grass growing through but plenty solid enough for our jacks. Water pressure and voltage was adequate. Wifi was one of the fastest I have seen in an RV park. Verizon reception was OK. DirecTV was very difficult to get even though there were no trees. I believe Nova Scotia is getting too far east to pick up the satellites.

The laundry was a joke. Cold water only wash for $2 a load which isn't terrible but the dryers were so bad that after $5 for 2 small loads the clothes were warm wet instead of cold wet. We camped at Wayside Campground in a Motorhome.

Mostly seasonal sites, wide variety of lots for over night and short stays. Staff is friendly and helpful. Sites are a little rustic.

Great value for the money. Depending on your rig and neighbors rig you may not be able to use your fire ring as you are close. Satellite dishes have a good sky canopy. Its a great place to stay for day trips in the area. We camped at Wayside Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed a week because of the views, the friendly staff and proximity to Halifax where friends and relatives live. We stayed here a week in 2013 also. We were located across the road from the ocean which was quite nice. Site was large and level and price was right due to Passport America membership. Great laundry at $2.00. Good book exchange also. We'll visit again. We camped at Wayside Campground in a Motorhome.

This park, located in a pretty area of bays and inlets, has a well established feel with large trees and mature foliage throughout. Gravel roads are easy to navigate, and sites are grass with just a bit of gravel to park on. Our site was plenty long and just wide enough for our 37' MH and toad, but sloping enough we had to drive onto 3" of blocks before leveling. The electric post was a bit scary with a large opening in the box that showed wires inside; the 30 amp outlet didn't work, but the 50 amp did; electicity went out completely on our 2nd nite there, and even after we reported the problem in the morning, remained out for the couple of hours until we left. The water and sewer hookups were convenient and effective. Free WiFi was available and worked reasonably well. The laundry was large, clean, and only $1.50 a load for each of wash and dry. Overall we liked the area and thought that the park was a pretty good value at this price. We camped at Wayside Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice owners (been here 50 years) very helpful, friendly and accommodating. 30 amp, FHU. Wonderful view of the cove directly across the street, great sunsets too. We were fortunate to obtain a water view site, we originally booked 4 nights but stayed for 8. We would return if in the area again. Free WIFI worked well for the most part except when the campground was full and folks downloaded large files or used Netflix. Only 1 over the air TV signal in this area. Hard to beat for the price - they give 20% off to PA members during the summer. We have a site facing the water across the street and although close to the road, it is fairly quiet. Wide spaces with good water pressure. Wi-Fi works and water pressure is good. It is 10 minutes drive to Peggy's Cove and 45 to Halifax. We camped at Wayside Campground in a Motorhome.

Ok for a night while visiting Peggy's Cove area. My grandchildren were disappointed because the 'playground' wasn't really useable. A couple of swings and poorly maintained. They do love their playgrounds. You have to pay for the showers. We camped at Wayside Campground in a Motorhome.
