8 Parks near Pictou, Nova Scotia
Nov 2015 - $30.00
We stayed in August and love the closeness to the festival activities in the area. So much going on. Really close to a nice size town, but felt like we were in the wilderness. Nice beach access across the street. They own a small beach on the warmest ocean in the area. Park also has a heated pool. Great prices and great service. The owners are extremely welcoming. The park has lots of trees and big lots.
The next time we come, we will bring our ATV's. Coming back for sure. - Robertas
Aug 2015 - $36.00
The front section of this CG seems to be mostly seasonal sites. Very tight roads leading to newer back section where the pass through campers seem to end up. Sites were adequate but the layout is tight. Need to back down the road to back into your site. OK for an overnight or two. Gave us a chance to explore Picteu. - Maine-iacs
Jul 2015 - $35.00
This park is tight for our 36' MH, but they put us on site 2 which was easy to access. Although it was a pull-though, the site was too short for us to leave the car hooked up. All of the sites in this section are well-packed gravel flanked by grass with a picnic table and fire ring. We connected to the convenient water and 30 amp hookups, but did not use the available sewer.
Although WiFi initially wouldn't connect, the owner graciously restarted the access point, and thereafter we had a very strong signal and wonderfully fast throughput. The bathrooms were clean and convenient, but showers cost extra. We didn't notice whether or not there is a laundry available. Overall, we thought it was decent value at this price for the amenities offered." - DaveInOhio
Oct 2015 - $19.00
We generally visit in the off season and always receive a water view site. Great birding campground including Eagles, osprey, ducks, geese, herons and shorebirds. Sites are level and owner ensures all guests are satisfied. He also helps with any issues even with rv's. The owner has a fantastic memory and knows all his guests well. When we called for a site he told us the site we had 2 years prior was open so set up and "I'll see you later". We had a visitor who he had met 18 years prior and he remembered the name. In my view there is no finer operator in Canada or US and we have visited approx. 81 parks in last 5 months and approx. 300 in past 3 years. Good book exchange, laundry and firewood was free. Good wifi. - camperme
Sep 2015 - $24.00
Park caters to full time seasonal campers, I'd estimate that 80%+ of the sites are occupied by full timers leaving few sites for transient campers. I stayed one night while repositioning from Cape Breton to Bay of Fundy. Had waterfront site which had nice views of the waterway. Note there is a paper mill across the bay and can be smelled at the campsite depending on wind direction. Restrooms/showers were adequate but a little rustic and outdated. Private beach was nice for a short walk. - Wdeertz
Sep 2015 - $28.00
This CG is huge and almost entirely seasonals--at least when we were there in late Sept. That said, it is excellent. The seasonals are all neat and clean. The wifi is excellent, the sites are very level and nicely spaced. It is only 5, or so, kms from Pictou. At the back of the CG, there is a path to the beach--to the right is a nice beach walk of about a mile. Don't miss the Balmoral Mills grist mill--about a half hour from Pictou. - hudsonguy
Aug 2016 - $26.00
Beautiful provincial park well away from road noise. It was quiet and secluded. Price is in CAD. - MSSW
Jul 2014 - $26.00
Caribou-Munroes is a lovely provincial park campground situated on a stretch of beautiful sandy beach on the Northumberland Shore - I think the beach is about 3 km long. All sites are unserviced; i.e., no water or electric, and generator hours are 10am to 8pm. There is a single dump station with a hose for doing a black tank flush. Loop A is open and has the best views of the water. The other loops are wooded or partially wooded. Most, if not all, sites have fire pits. Wood and ice are available ($). The washrooms are very clean and there are free hot showers but no laundry facilities. There is free Wi-Fi available in a covered area with electric outlets next to the office. The campground is easily accessible from the PEI ferry and the town of Pictou, complete with a Sobeys, Home Hardware, and Tims, etc. There is a gas station with diesel a few km from the park entrance. If you like relaxing on one of the nicest beaches in Nova Scotia, this is the park for you. - driftdiver1
Jun 2016 - $39.00
Wonderful views of the Northumberland Strait between Nova Scotia & PEI. Beach access was great and beach was very clean. Quiet and serene. Loved it and would return again. - SharonO
Aug 2015 - $43.00
This a nice campground right on the water, with a nice beach area. Large section of seasonals and mostly open grass sites. Sites were large and easy to access, office attendant was very nice and owner even delivered ice to our site. Wife met a few of the seasonal campers and became friendly and felt right at home. Would camp here again. - Nausett
Jun 2012 - $43.00
With tax this was $43, much too high for what we got (2 way overnight). Bathrooms/showers were clean ($0.50 for a shower) but were unheated (it was raw and cold even this late in June). You will need leveling for most sites. Only about 50 sites are for travelers-the rest are seasonal full time setups. Wi-Fi worked OK, TV reception marginal. This was the most we paid for a site in NS. - Isata Mike
Aug 2015 - $41.00
Ocean view spots are very generous in size, and level, although they could have been angled to allow a view from your side windows. The roads are gravel, but lots of room for big rigs. The front desk staff are excellent, and knowlegable. The roads leading to the campground are in good shape, but a liile narrow. Stock up before arrival as there is not much unless you want to drive to Antigonish. - acadiandave
Aug 2014 - $45.00
Very friendly staff. Great view of ocean in some and short walk for others. Wide open level sites. It is a beautiful place to stay. Wi-Fi worked great. I would stay here again. - GRMOK!
Aug 2014 - $42.00
Clean and quiet with large sites basically in the middle of a field of seasonals. No waterfront sites. We stayed here in transit and will not return for an other reason but that. - Aftica
Aug 2016 - $31.00
The park is a few minutes drive to the Ferry from Prince Edward Island to Nova Scotia. It is on the ocean and has shady and sunny sites. Very pleasant and reasonably priced. The sites are very large with lots of room for the biggest mh or trailer. We will return again, and regularly. - camperme
Jul 2016 - $34.00
Provincial park with large sites nicely spaced apart and separated by bushes/trees.
We stayed here mainly to be close to ferry to Nova Scotia.
Our third provincial park on PEI. Interestingly this one did not have wifi where other PPs do. - DCM/JMB
Jul 2013 - $36.00
Great campground, our site was a little oddly shaped, but it worked. It was a short walk to an amazing view of the Northumberland Straight and a beautiful beach. We would definitely stay here again. - CokeCacher
Sep 2016 - $15.00
We parked in site 16, which allowed us to park facing the river with a great view. Our neighbor in site 15 was hooked up to our power pedestal because his didn't have power. Thankfully, I had a 30 amp 25 ft. extension cord and was able to hook up to site 17's pedestal. This meant that site 17 couldn't be used by anyone else. Several attempts to locate the owner were unsuccessful that evening. Voltage was stable and adequate.
Site was fairly level and it was easy to level the coach.
Even with the power hook up problem, we would stay here again. Price and a great view more than atone for a minor hook up problem. - Lakewood90
Jun 2016 - $15.00
Very nice small park on the river. Good WiFi and utilities. Directv worked good also. Parked facing the river and it was very nice and quiet. Staff was very nice. Good location to visit the area and close to the Nova Scotia ferry. We would definitely stay here again. - RayN
Sep 2014 - $14.00
Beautiful location with an awesome riverfront view, gorgeous sunrise. Close to Nova Scotia ferry. Pretty area all around the park for 30 miles in every direction. Excellent Wi-Fi, good laundry room. Very quiet and peaceful, friendly owner. View of small harbour with fishing boats coming and going. Regular price $28 and worth it. We paid Passport America price $14, tax included. Probably good fishing on the river, or kayaking. I would definitely stay here again. - KeithB
Aug 2013 - $30.00
Very friendly staff, some sites are right next to the ocean and very beautiful! Wi-Fi costs extra and was broken when we were there. Bathrooms were OK. - Joe Tenners
Aug 2012 - $36.00
Friendly hosts, level grassy sites, ocean is a short walk to rocky beach, large playground, they do recycle, dump station is easy, Wi-Fi is $2 extra per day we had water and power. The site we were in had the neighbor across facing our door, so not a lot of privacy, (that is only about a quarter of the park. - edt
