Excellent park - beautiful views of Pymatuning Lake, a private boat launch for the fishermen, nice playground for the kids. The campground beach was small, but it was adequate. We stayed in site 155, a nice site. The only downside was that site was full sun, but ReserveAmerica says it's "partially shaded". When I looked at the Google Earth picture for that site, there were trees there, but they've done some logging. Some sites wouldn't be that great for campers, as they don't have a great amount of room off the right side, and others have slopes, but they're pretty accurately listed. Nice, mostly flat roads, great for bike riding. My 5 year old son actually learned to ride a two wheeled bike here. It was a great camping experience, and we booked sites again to go back in a few weeks. Very pet friendly. We camped at Pymatuning State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Bring extra blocking for your jacks, just in case. Try to avoid sites 134-144, there's some type of machinery or pump in the adjacent property that makes a 24/7 humming sound.

We have stayed in the PA side for years and decided to try the Ohio park. The problem we had is that all the driveways are extremely short. This forces everyone to park their vehicles across their campsites, but they hang into the street and onto the grass between campsites. There were just cars everywhere. When you tried to maneuver to get an rv into or out of your site, you had to worry about the person across from you being parked in the road. When everyone tries to leave on Sunday at checkout time, you can't get out because there are vehicles in the road trying to hook up to campers. The sign when you enter says no parking off roadways/drives. This is clearly not enforced because it can't be. I even saw a large pontoon boat brazenly parked in the grass in someone's site. We were there after a rain and the grass in most sites was torn up from people driving on it. Our site was a swamp (079) and had huge tire ruts in it. We couldn't really even use it as a camping site, due to the mud, so we spent most of our time over by the lake. I'd avoid the sites near the cattails. We booked online and didn't know we were booking in a swamp, but this shouldn't even be a camping site. We did see other flooded sites so be careful if it has been a wet summer. There are some nicer sites in section 3. Most problems are due to the sites being far too short to accommodate a moderately sized camper and the tow vehicle. Otherwise, it's a nice park (if you avoid the dismal swamp area) but this problem with cars all over the roads will keep us from coming back. We have traveled and used state parks in more than a dozen states, and this is the first time we've seen this driveway length/parking problem. We camped at Pymatuning State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pymatuning State Park Ohio, is an "oldie but goodie" park that people can't help re-visit every year despite its aging infrastructure. The people are warm and friendly at the campstore and will likely remember you if you visit each year. Campground guests usually bring their whole family thus there are children playing all the time-every day of the week-not just on weekends. The campground starts to fill on Thursday. Lots of children can be seen fishing at and along the boat dock and near the playground/beach. We've been to several Ohio state parks, but this one is really family oriented and kid friendly and the main reason we show up each year, as our children love this park. The park ranger patrols at least once a week. Facilities are very dated, but kept clean. A movie is played on Saturday nights. The mgr at the campground store is accommodating and will do her best to help you out. They have changed some things this year by removing the monthly rate and now just a few seasonals stay at the park-selected by a lottery system, thus the park seems more quiet than previous years, and there are always empty sites available even on the weekends. But the changes are state wide. I do wish they would take the Passport America discount, but they don't, unlike some of the more modern Ohio state parks. Verizon4g lte was 2 to 3 bars. Campstore office has a free hotspot that reaches 1 or 2 rows into the campground. We camped at Pymatuning State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Andover is around 5 miles away and does have one grocery store. Beer stores are closer. The Jamestown PA State park is just down road along the lake from this one, but is 1.50/night more. Walmarts are 30-35min North to Ashtabula , 40mins South to Greenville and 25 - 30 mins East to Meadville, Pa. Great fishing along the causeway that crosses the lake at the Oh/PA border.

We are here often and it one of our favorites! Site 340 right on the lake, although you will need some leveling blocks at this site. An eagle nesting site is very close and we saw them soring over the campsite. Electric only at this site. We camped at Pymatuning State Park in a Motorhome.

Pymatuning State Park is not like the other Ohio State Parks we have visited. Most spots are taken up by seasonal campers. Many sites are 20 amp, some are 30 amp, and a few are 50 amp full hook up. Most sites are not adequate for our 35' motor home. The spots are too short and not level. However, we stayed in the pull thru spots (1-7) and were quite comfortable. There was shade on our spot so we didn't need the 50 amp service to run the two air conditioners. The park is clean, well patrolled, and quiet. I would camp here again. We camped at Pymatuning State Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed in a walk-in RV campsite for a week or so before July 4th weekend and through July 4th weekend and a few days later.

First impressions of a campground start at the office personnel. The staff at Pymatuning State Park, OH side were extremely friendly and accommodating. No matter what time of day, even amidst other customers yelling at them, they were very friendly and patient.

Not only were the staff friendly but so were the seasonals. Just about all of them would make small talk or say hi when walking by.

The campground is huge with a ton of families. Lots of children, which my children enjoyed. Most of the kids seemed to get along just fine no matter where they were from; be it Cleveland or rural areas.

The bathrooms were a little beat up structurally, but clean, with lots of hot and high water pressure. There are many places to find drinkable water to include filling the RV's fresh water tank. Many accessible dump stations. A ton of playgrounds. The beach was a little small but it didn't matter with the kids. Lots of fishing from the lakeshore.

4th of July weekend was a blast with fireworks being launched along lakeshore. They even had an outdoor movie theater playing Disney type movies. Lots of happy energy that weekend. Every weekend had many families with children. Even mid-week was full of families with children.

Wifi was rocking from the camp office if the RV wasn't more than 3 or 4 rows down toward the lake, else you need some kind of range booster to pick-up the wifi.

We really enjoyed the vibe of the campground and general area. Just an easy going laid back feel.

It's the kind of campground that you want to return to.

The only negative I observed was the park ranger/police guy. He seemed to be looking to harass people, but other than that it's a near 10. We camped at Pymatuning State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Fishing at the Causeway.

The walkins are almost always available. Number 16 is a nice walkin very close to the bathroom and water.

A nice little area to hike across the little river that flows into the lake.

Ohio state parks are the best! We come here quite a bit not only for the value but the place is very well run and very clean. The VIP (Volunteers In Park) do an excellent job of keeping the place in very good shape. We have never had a bad experience here in the past year that we have visited. The new camp shop is very nice as well with some pretty decent values. Overall just a really nice state park in NE Ohio. We camped at Pymatuning State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This campground is wonderful. We camped over the Memorial Day weekend; we had a premium site along the lake in the pet area, site 192. Most sites only have electric, but a select few had full hookups. The bath facilities are excellent, clean and well maintained. There is a nice beach and playground next to the lake. The staff was friendly and efficient. The park was full, but very quite for such a large crowd. The ranger went through the park every 2 hours to ensure everyone had an enjoyable weekend. The sites are large and well maintained; you can have full sun or full shade, a great selection. We really enjoyed our stay, we will camp there again. We enjoyed this State Park, friendly and helpful staff and volunteers. The view of the lake is fantastic and some sites have you on waters edge. Very quiet at night and with the horsepower limit on the lake no loud boats during the day. Only drawback is the power, need a upgrade. No 50 amp service. We camped at Pymatuning State Park in a Motorhome.

Very friendly area. We were there over the 4th of July. We stayed in the southern most area. It was quiet after 10 p.m. There are lake front that you can tie up boats to. Around the area there are LOTS to do. The Linesville, PA hatchery is and easy drive as well as a nature museum and the spillway that is famous for the large carp. I mean LARGE and lots. Kids can feed them. :) We stayed 5 days and on the weekdays it cleared out a lot. There were local fireworks. There is also PA state parks around this lake that sits on the PA line. It is a 20hp lake. We camped at Pymatuning State Park in a Motorhome.

This was a very nice park in the Ohio State Parks system. Very large with all types of sites from primitive to full hook to premium sites along this very large man made lake (17,000 acres). Very clean, shady, grassy sites, paved roads and pads, nice bathroom, immaculate. I could not find one thing wrong with the park. I would say that some (but by no means all) of the sites were somewhat small and close together. There is no 50 amp though as it is in a fairly remote area. The surrounding area is mostly the Ohio State Park on one side and Pennsylvania on the other of the lake. A must see while you are there is the Pymatuning spillway near Linesville Pa. Nice grocery store in Andover 4-5 miles away, there is a drive in theatre that has a flea market and a nice 9 hole public golf course. A very typical, which means very nice, Ohio State Park. We camped at Pymatuning State Park in a Travel Trailer.
