This is by far the worst campground there is. I have been camping many years and have never seen anything like this. The roads (ditches) to get to the sites are potholed, rutted and no RV should ever go on them. I was taken to two sites that it was totally impossible to get my 35ft Winney into, then taken to a third site that was flooded because of a water leak some where. I parked on the wrong side of the patio, as I sure could not have gotten into the other side. Then when I tried to hook into water and sewer, there was none. Was asked if I could not go one night without water and sewer. I said no and demanded a refund of my $32. Was told no refunds. I talked to the owner and she told me they would put the money back on my card. Which as of 3 1/2 weeks later they still have not. Please if you are traveling this way, STAY AWAY from this "campground".
By far one if not the worst campground in the USA. - earlhop

I am currently still staying here and will be here until November. My boyfriend and our two children ( 2 year old and 4 month old) in lot 1 we like it here and have no complaints we are actually helping fix the place up so that way the negative comments can stop! It's not that bad here honestly if it was we wouldn't still be here. The owner is an excellent person to get along with and so are the employees! I haven't had rides to get to point a to point b and they have offered anytime i needed to go somewhere! They are not rude at all like most comments say! Yes I think this is a great place to stay if you are wanting a one night stay or monthly! Lots are nice some lots wooded some concrete electric trash water sewage and cable included very nice place
Thanks. - Ashley1215

This is off Exit 11 on Interstate 70. They have a permanent section and a temporary section. The front permanent section looks easy to get into and is close to the office. The temporary section is up the hill and very cumbersome to drive to, rutted road. Let's say, I held my breath. The manager was very nice and led in front of me to show me which spots I could choose from. The temporary area is quite rustic, despite having full hookups. Lots of trees, and great shade. Sites are far from being level. The sites were so out of level, I didn't even bother putting down my stabilizers. I had trouble with my cable connection, it wouldn't work. So, the owner and someone in the next spot over helped to get it working. Let's just say, you don't want to know how they got it working. The manager knew I was traveling alone and didn't have a tow car and said if I needed anything, they would get it for me. The manager is willing to do anything to help you out. I thought that $32 was a bit pricey, but this may be average for this area, and since it was July 4th time, beggars can't be choosers. The manager told me that a shopping area was about half a mile away, but I didn't check this out. I just stayed put in my RV for three days, after holding my breath to get up the rutted road. The manager said it's ok to unhook and go in and out if needed. This is ok for an overnight, but wouldn't use if for a destination. It was pretty quiet during my stay. - DXSMac

A long way into a town or the nearest interstate so maybe not great for a one night stand. It is Great for a longer stay. Free hayride on Saturdays and a free beach everyday. I spent one afternoon sitting on my lawn chair in the creek behind our site. - WNC Traveler

Yes there is so much to do here. We stayed 3 nights and did not get to do all that we wanted. My GPS had no issues getting us there. There are several signs directing you which way to go. Yes the road to the campground is not ideal. It is paved, but bumpy and windy. This is a public road and no fault of the campground. Leaving, we encountered a big rig coming in. No problem if you both pull over and let the other pass slowly. In the campground itself, the roads are narrow so again, pull over and let the other pass. The owner was super nice and appreciative that we stayed at his campground. Our site sat back off the road and had plenty of grassy area in front. Site was level with gravel where you park the trailer and a stamped concrete patio. Negatives - Bathhouses are spaced out. Each loop has a bathroom, but they are like outhouses. There was air in our water line so the pressure was not the greatest. The other couple with us in the next site had the same issue. Sometimes the cold water would come out hot for a bit. None of this would keep us from returning. - JillaRoo
May 2017 - $45.00
PROS: Situated in beautiful canyon, with loops of camping sites about a mile into the canyon, with a creek meandering through. Large lake with paddleboats. Numerous playground areas for kids. Good signage. Well maintained. CONS: Restrooms were basically outhouses, although they did have RV toilets. No sinks, just a hand sanitizing station outside of each. The approach to the park is about a mile of a narrow, winding steep one lane road -- scary in an RV. Poor Wi-Fi connection in the park. When we visited, I think we were the only visitors, although the park was about half full of year-round residents. The year-round rigs were well maintained, with landscaping, storage sheds, permanent decks, golf carts. However, we felt like intruders in a mobile home park. - Paul and Jeannette

Don't believe previous reviews - nice little campground - safe & clean.
Sadly some people who do reviews don't understand small campgrounds CAN'T have people onsite all the time. This campground only has a couple people a day (at most) coming or leaving so there just wouldn't be any logic to owners being around all the time.
It is a small campground and it is owned by a husband & wife with two kids in college. Owners also have to work during the week so Monday through Friday it is likely you will not see them. There is a drop box for your payment, bathrooms & pool were very clean. Sites were mowed and well maintained but if you are their during the week it is highly unlikely you will see the owners or be able to talk with them in person.
However, both weekends we were their the owners were working ALL day to make the place as nice as possible. We really enjoyed the place and talking with them.
If you are looking for a HUGE campground with hundreds of sites this is not it. But if you like a private setting that is clean and well maintained you will not be disappointed.
I wanted to post a nice review shortly after our visit but I have been extremely busy. So sorry for the delay giving this feedback! - toomanypins

This run down, side-of-road park does not deserve your business. The hostess, when she is around, is rude and totally unhelpful to a first-time visitor. We were returning to the East from an 8,000 mile trip with lots of RV parks under our belt when we picked this one from Woodall's. It does NOT deserve any rating at all. Skip it. - SilverOtter

We reserved a 50 Amp Electric, Sewer, water, pull through site for 9 days. There was nobody here to check us in and other clients told us, "She doesn’t come around much." We had no instructions as to what site to go to, so we searched for a 50 amp pedestal and backed in. The owner/manager finally showed up at 5:10 pm. She was the most unfriendly person I have ever come across. Didn’t bother to introduce herself, seemed annoyed we were paying by credit card, and the word surely would not even be accurate. The first night the main pedestal power went off 6 hours. I will say they replaced the 50 amp breaker in the morning. In the afternoon the power started cycling on and off again. Now fortunately we have the best TRC Power Surge Guard makes, so it didn’t fry my A/C or my TV. It did cause damage to my computer. The manager said, "Oh I'm out of town so there’s nothing I can do. Try moving to a different site." We are both in our 60s and I am disabled so this was not a nice experience. We did it, and the problem was worse. Now the power is cycling off every 2-3 minutes. I could read the display on my Surge Guard so I know the voltage amps coming in from the Pedestal. There is/was nothing wrong with my unit or my RV electrical system. The place smelled of sewer everywhere and trash had not been picked up in quite some time. It was a nightmare. We left 4 days early and the manager refuses to return our calls regarding a refund. - jimhoch

We only stopped over night on the way home from western Ohio, but we will definitely be back to explorer the park and the area. Our route was along the Ohio Scenic Byway and was an pleasant end to an otherwise horrendous drive along Rt 71.
The park is off the beaten path and being a Sunday night, there were plenty of open site, but only a few big rig friendly. The site we were in was 30 A and no water, but there is a water fill and dump station near the park office. I saw the pool but did not go for a swim, but again will plan on taking full advantage of the amenities another trip.
The staff was very friendly and even offered to escort me back to my site. It's heavily shaded so no satellite but over air was acceptable. - htowners

Gorgeous state campground to top of hill. Large wooded sites. Great trails for hiking and ponds for fishing. If your looking for a relaxing camping trip with quiet nature all around you then this is the place. Campground has a well laid out dump and water fill station, small campground store. At the entrance of the campground which is at the bottom of the hill is a large pool with a water slide and jumping board. Also they serve hot food at the pool area. Local sheriff makes routine patrols thru campground. - mdcamping

This was a nice park. The sites were reasonably spaced and generally level. We had fair cell phone reception with Verizon and good OTA TV (out of Pittsburgh). As others have mentioned, there was a bit of noise from the air traffic headed into Pittsburgh, but it was not terribly intrusive. We found lots of good hiking here (especially in the Wildflower Reserve area) and the trails were interesting. The trail from the campground to the beach was pretty steep, so we turned back on that one. Our site (E08) was good and, after walking the campground several times, thought that others would have been better. Sites E01, E02, E14, and E30 all looked good - a little more suited for our 30 foot trailer. A01, A12, B10, B16, and F35 were also a good fit. The best place to get water is just as you enter section F directly across from F01. We enjoyed our stay here and plan to return again. - Capt Gerry

An aging park for sure - narrow roads throughout, but not a problem if you know what you're doing. The website lists the "maximum RV length" as very short, but I have a 26 foot TT and backed clear up to the wheels hit the curb in the site, and had no problem once I was unhooked. Very nice park, would stay here again in a second. The only real negative that I can say about the park is it's proximity to Pittsburgh Intl Airport, I love watching planes though, so it wasn't a problem for me! The other thing is that the "playground" for the kids is a sorry excuse for a playground. In all though, a nice park. - brian19889

Camped here many times - always F loop for dog. Bathroom cleaned twice a day, older military style fixtures and skylights to keep costs down but clean and efficient restrooms and showers conveniently located. Dishwashing stations are great. This is a great park for tents, tent pop ups and smaller travel trailers. Sites are not level and pads are small but plenty of room between sites. Great hiking trails and nice lake to swim in. Very quiet, wooded sites but airport is close by. Jets didnt bother us. Weekend movies and shows for kids and playgrounds. Walking paths for dogs. No sewer or water at site but dump station clean and easy to access. Potable water is from springs and makes the best coffee! Verizon phone limited, T-mobile not at all. Several digital TV stations near by. Senior discount and a few ADA sites. - tomas_grupos
Jul 2017 - $1.00
Can't complain too much about a free campground. The campground is small, just seven sites, all small and paved, but none are level. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring, and there are trash cans and gray water dumps place every few sites, but no full service dump station. Weak Verizon service, but it was there. Just pit toilets, well stocked, but not the best. On a Saturday night in July I was all alone in this campground, it was very dark and very quiet. Local sheriff rolled through the campground once in the evening, but that was it. Nice stay and chance to get away from it all, I will return. - Cyclonic
