9 Parks near Buckeye Lake, Ohio
Jul 2016 - $62.00
We were out a month on this trip and this was the most over priced and rudest places we stayed. How it received the 2016 Presidents award is beyond us! The lady that took our reservation could have cared less if we stayed there or not and it was like playing 20 questions. The boys on their golf carts who 'escort' you to your site need some training and some manners. Several of the cabins there are COVERED with several inches worth of green moss and the Mosquitos were horrible - the worst we've encountered. We get that it's shady and whatever - however most of this comes down to maintenance; it didn't happen overnight or over the course of a week. There was standing water everywhere - thus the infestation of mosquitos. The sites are close together and the fire rings are dangerously close to vehicles. We were charged $62 instead of the posted $48 with no explanation. We requested a pull thru and didn't plan on unhooking since we were just passing thru. Well of course that didn't happen either - it seems we were charged a premium rate for pull thru (according to the golf cart kid) but the site was backwards. To stay hooked up we would have been over halfway out in the road and would have needed miles of hoses. He then tells us that 'maybe' he can find us a pull thru but we probably wouldn't have sewer. Really!?!? So we had to go thru the extra work of unhooking and hooking up.
Cable was good and wifi didn't work at all.
We would NOT stay here again; period. We would either stay at the truck stop, a Walmart, or just about anywhere else other than here. We spent the most closest to home and was the most disappointed! - Rjjjbrown
May 2016 - $48.00
Quiet park near Buckeye Lake. Management was great, good cable and wi-fi, level gravel pull thru site. plenty of room between sites. we would stay here again. - DBSnowbirds
Aug 2015 - $58.00
Our site was level, and shaded. Fairly easy to get to from the freeway. Stayed here because it was closest to family. Price is too high for just over night stays. - OB4123
Aug 2016 - $46.00
We love this campground. It's a very family-friendly. Our favorite spots are in the back next to the creek which the kids love to play in. It's only a foot deep max. Our spots are surrounded with mature trees and are huge. You can sit in our spot around the camp fire and watch the kids play in the creek.
The only downside is they are electric and water and cable, no sewer.
This year they added a BMX bike track and laser tag and frisbee golf. There are also adding a new shower house. The current shower house is fine and well kept. It's a nice family run campground. Super great for the kids with lots of activities. It's not as big as some campgrounds but that suits us great. There's a nice place to get snacks and ice cream.
The pool is a little small but the water is always warm and nice, and there's a splash pad right next to it. There's also a zip line and a wire obstacle course.
Very secluded down in a ravine in the trees. Camping the way that it should be. It's family-owned and I think both the daughter and son are involved. Everyone who we've interacted with are good people and the staff is great. - osubuck94
Jun 2016 - $30.00
Great place for a family campout. They have a zip line, playground, food window with pizza, ice cream, etc., swimming pool, shallow creek to wade in, very large laser tag area. Camp store. Very nice. Many planned weekend events. Clean laundry room.
We waded in the creek, granddaughter used the zip line, pool, play ground and climbing obstacle course. They also had minature golf but we ran out of time to use it.
We have already returned once this year and have reservations this fall for their Halloween weekend. - Atthecrossroads
Sep 2015 - $46.00
We had a creek back-in site with friends camping next to us for a weekend. Grass sites are level, large, and flexible. Many activities available for children. Great camp store with good food and friendly service. Fire ring overlooking the creek along a mature tree line. The only concern during our stay was an abundance of barking dogs that weekend. - SKT
Aug 2015 - $30.00
I only gave it a 9, because it is way out in the country. That was OK with us. Quiet place. Good Wi-Fi. Friendly place and the manager very helpful. Also a small place. Clear sky for the satellite. Shower has very hot water and lots of it. All grass. You can only enter (the entrance) of the campground if you are going east. Call for directions before coming. Leaving campground and going east, you will need to go out a back gate. No problems there. If coming in from the west, you will need to come in the back gate. Campground entrance is on a sharp curve and making the left hand turn is almost impossible. No traffic as it is in the country. We will camp there again, when in the area. - consmith
May 2016 - $15.00
Nice little campground! Easy to miss entrance, but GPS was accurate. Sites are not very wide, but adequate. We stayed 3 nights while visiting our daughter in Columbus. Camp host very helpful, recommended places to eat and historic sites to visit. Next trip we will allow more time for sightseeing. Away from the main streets, so no street noise. There is a railroad nearby, but only heard it when outside. Cardinals were often flying into our windows, apparently didn't like their reflections. - Dadhanke
Sep 2015 - $15.00
What a lovely little park. Glad I read about it on Review. Sites are long a level. Hosts are friendly and helpful. Verizon is good. It is a little tight driving around the outside of this little Chautauqua like community but we did OK in our big rig. There is no sewer but they come around twice a week for free with a honey wagon. The dump station is a little awkward. The trees between the sites are a little low and need trimmed but we did OK with 4 slides. - rhianna
Jul 2015 - $30.00
Loved this little campground. Friendly people & our dogs liked that there was an off leash area. - rascalydog
Jul 2015 - $16.00
I was here for months working at the local hospital. The park staff were very nice and friendly and accommodating to me working odd hours. The park is kept extremely clean and looks beautiful!!! - gypsynurse15
Jul 2014 - $36.00
Sites were a little tight but the campground looked well maintained and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again - Tom_G
Sep 2013 - $36.00
Unlike what the web site says, no cable and no wifi. We did pick up all the major networks on the antenna. Trees and bushes need trimming. Only a few sites for visitors like us. Almost all sites are seasonal. Good site to visit hocking hills, a 20 minute drive to them. - 580747
Jul 2014 - $20.00
This was our first visit to Dillon State Park. The spots were very nice with good space between sites. Most sites had trees for shade. The campground layout provided for privacy and a feeling that the park was never crowded. The grounds were very well maintained. We found this to be one of Ohio's nicer state parks and will definitely return again. - Tammy7
Jul 2014 - $25.00
Campsites were small and close together with sparse tree coverage. The campground itself was small consisting of just several loops, however was clean and quiet. The surroundings were picturesque with plenty of room to walk and explore. We never actually made it over to see the reservoir. There was no potable water at the dump station. - hojo70
Jul 2014 - $22.00
Lovely state park! The campsites are well spaced and the one we had was long enough for our rig and toad. It was also pretty level. We stayed in site 37 and had a wooded area behind us. We only stayed one night as we were passing through, but we will go back at some point for a longer stay. The park has lots of outdoor activities. We stayed mid-week and the campground was only about one fourth full. We were told that it was full the previous weekend which was a holiday weekend. - Randy & Sharon
May 2008 - $33.00
Good entertainment there on weekends. Campsites are REALLY close together even without a slideout. A lot of people who like to party there (not always so good). Would go back but don't expect it to be quiet there. - 4Lancaster
Oct 2015 - $45.00
This place is a dump. Not maintained at all. Full-time campers have trashy sites. No kidding when I say this, FT camper was sitting outside his camper in his underwear, his wife in shorts and just a bra drinking PBR. Tried to get hold of management but they never answered the phone for 3 days. Grass had not been mowed in a couple of weeks, tree limbs everywhere, their so-called pavilion had 4 ft holes in the roof. Hard to tell where sites were because the lots were grown over by grass. When I asked about a picnic table they said go find one. Same with a fire ring. They made their web page look so great, but the place is a DUMP. Was so not worth the drive way out there. Go somewhere else, unless you like Deliverance type of a setting, just listen for the banjo music. Seriously. - Wayne Conway
Jul 2015 - $40.00
We were camping with a group of 4 campers and all booked together. When we arrived they had not kept us together. The reservation does say site #s not guaranteed but they could have tried to keep us together. There was no picnic table at our site when we arrived. We were told picnic tables and fire rings are first come first serve we would have to go find one ourselves. Had to go to the rustic side and load a table into the truck to move it to our site. Site had piles of nails around where fire pits had been moved after burning wood with nails. We ended up with a nail in our tire. Nice large pool but most of it is under 3 feet deep with one small corner being 3 ft 8 inches. Nice for little kids but not for our teenagers. Extremely rude people who cut through our site continuously to get to the pool, but the way the pool and playground are situated you almost have to cut through a site to get to them. Bath house is very old. Toilet seats broken, shower that doesn't work but not marked out of order so you don't know it doesn't work until you are in it trying to use it. When mentioned to the staff that the water won't turn on were told they shut the water off to that one its broken. Some kind of party going on at one of the picnic shelters until after midnight playing loud music - quiet time definitely not enforced. The only good thing I can say about this campground is they did let us do a late checkout since we were there for a softball tournament in the area and had a game after normal checkout time. Will not return and would not recommend. - Luv To Camp
Sep 2012 - $35.00
My review is exactly the same as the other review for Sept 2012 on this Campground. Another Big Rig and I stayed here for 3 weeks, and we had the best time there. The firewood was a little over priced, but the maintenance man and staff were the best. The older lady staff person, not so much. Virgin Mobil phone service was fair and good enough to tether off of. We we really enjoyed the stay and would not shop for another park in the area. I will return. - startech
Jul 2016 - $35.00
The park is a bit difficult to get to but is a very attractive park when you do with many large trees and lots of shade. Sites in the heavy timber have gravel pads with very little grass, due to the lack of sun but are nice on warm days. Overnight sites are pull through with easy access, gravel pads that are close to level. Nice swimming pool, very quiet and friendly. We were happy that we found this out of the way park and will go back if we travel that way again. - RV Camper1
Aug 2015 - $38.00
We had reservations and arrived in the evening after the office had closed, but an escort met us at the entry gate and took us to our site. The pull through site was large enough for our 40' rig and tow vehicle, and was fairly level when we pulled in. It was mostly grass though, so we were not level by morning. The park could use an upgrade as there were a lot of sites with tall grass and weeds. Many of the seasonal sites were pretty old and not kept well while others were very nice. There is plenty of shade and mature trees. I think the park owner relies on volunteer campers to help maintain it, but there is potential here to make this an outstanding campground. It was very quiet and peaceful which is what we were looking for. The people were extremely friendly and accommodating. We don't usually come this direction, but I would stay here again if we are back in the area. - RNRVtravler
May 2015 - $19.00
