We stayed here May 25 & 26, 2018. First time here. We were supposed to leave on May 28th but left early. First, let me say the woman owner we dealt with was very nice and helpful once we found her. When we arrived we had problems finding anyone to check us in along with another person who had arrived. There is a shack at the entrance we thought was were you checked in, but a sign on the door saying to "go to the round house". This house was up on a hill and if you are in an RV you have to walk up a steep gravel road to get to it. If you are handicapped, good luck. But once we found her she was very nice. Our campsite was #1, pictured below. It looks deceiving but it isn't good. The road to it is gravel, and in my opinion, in bad shape with holes and ruts in it. Our site was between a "bunk house" on the left and a seasonal spot on the right. The seasonal spot is junky. Whoever is staying there apparently hasn't been there in awhile because it if filthy and junky. I find it unbelievable the owners are putting up with it. Very difficult to take a walk around the campground because of the road conditions and with it being so hilly in some spots it is actually dangerous because the asphalt in part of the steep road is eroded and has come apart. That mixed with the gravel makes walking up or down it dangerous. My wife slipped and stumbled and slid and fell. I found the campground in a run down condition. They charge you to take showers there. You have to put a quarter in a metered box for each 3 minutes! I read they did this because people were leaving the showers running but they could have put push buttons in to stop that instead of coin machines. Twice I found no toilet paper in stalls. Hey, the internet was good! We won't return. This is hard to write because the woman was so nice. But I think it has been let run down and it looks junky, especially where we were camped at site 1. We left a day early just to get out of there. We camped at Lake Hill Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Absolutely nothing to do in the area. Closest is Hocking Hills, 1 hour drive. They do have what they call a lake is actually a large pond that you can swim in. They have a little beach. If you decide to walk around the campground be very careful on the hills due to loose gravel and loose asphalt!

Owners are very nice. The park is very prettily situated on a hillside. However, there is no water diversion system, so when it rains - and it did - water flows down through the park, through the campsites, making them muddy, and also washes the interior roads. We camped at Lake Hill Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Hopewell Mounds National Historic Site is fascinating. Free admission. Great video intro, interesting and very well done museum, very helpful staff. Beautiful spot. Good Kroger's in Chillicothe, as well as "Tecumseh," an outdoor drama which we've seen twice and would happily see again.

The roads and spots are gravel. Most are fairly level but a few are not. The first spot we were given was too small to get level so we asked for another one. The owners are really sweet and gave us the option of 3 other spots. We selected a bigger site and leveled easily. All the utilities worked great. It is a very quiet camp with a playground and lake for swimming. There are several cabins to rent. It is on a hill and lots of woods all around. The price represents a weekly rate. While the park was undergoing some upgrades (13 new sites) it had options available for RV under 40 ft. It is hill, mostly unpaved, but lots of grass and fishing, swimming lake, hiking trails. Great value. We camped at Lake Hill Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed over Memorial Day weekend and stayed on lot 20. It was probably the most secluded lot there, we loved it. Yes, the campground could use some updating, but we didn't see anything that looked trashy or uncared for. Had a great time, it was nice and quiet, even though the park was pretty full. We camped at Lake Hill Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This facility need a lot of updating and improvement. From our arrival, I questioned whether we should even stay or not. No one was in the office when we arrived, and no one answered the phone. The owner's daughter was mowing in the park, and when we finally found her she was absolutely no help. Sites are oddly shaped and positioned, and are difficult to figure out. Our site was large and open, which was nice, but when we were placed where we had to be, our sewer hose was 10-15 feet too short to reach the sewer pipe. We had absolutely no TV signal the entire time we were there. On the positive side, when the staff did make their presence known, they were quite friendly and attempted to be helpful, and the bath house/restroom was clean and recently updated. We would not stay here again. We camped at Lake Hill Campground in a Motorhome.

After reading the above review, we thought this might be just what we were looking for as we had to spend a couple days in the Chillicothe area. We arrived an hour before check in time (not many campers yet this year) but the manager was not available to assist us. Her husband couldn't find our reservation and didn't know which site was assigned to us - and there was no way for him to figure it out. It is our understanding these folks came from Wyoming and had purchased the campground sight unseen and was somewhat shocked to find out they had purchased this run down, poorly thought out park. We thought we had found a campground the public had not yet discovered. Unfortunately, the best was I can describe it is to say that with massive infusions of cash and ten years of work, they might bring it up to "primitive" standards. The entry office was not welcoming and it was difficult to tell exactly where the sites were. We drove through the grounds, having been told the flat area was at the rear. When we got up there, we were driving the wrong direction to back into the sites so we simply kept driving and went elsewhere. Campers, looking for primitive sites, will love it here. We are travelers that choose to travel with in a travel trailer, visiting the historical sites and museums. Relaxing in our unit at this CG wasn't what we were looking for. I hope others find it more enjoyable and up their alley. We camped at Lake Hill Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This was by far the best site we've camped at. The bathroom and shower facilities were newer. They smelled and looked very clean and were well lit. The family felt very comfortable using the bathrooms. Our site was nicely layed out near the 5-acre lake they had. The water was a little better than what you'd expect from a lake. The sandy beach was nice. Everything was in close proximity to our site. The thing that made camping here so pleasant were the owners. They were always around riding their golf carts if you needed anything. They were nice people that just wanted to make sure you enjoyed your stay. We will definitely be going back there in the near future. We camped at Lake Hill Campground in a Tent Trailer.
