Overall Rating:

We stayed 2 nights at this campground on recommendations from a friend. Our site was pretty convenient to get to, back in and set up. It was also fairly level right to left. All hookups were easy and convenient, with 20/30/50 amp service. Our site was C 08. It was a pretty nice site, but was pretty wet. We had a six inch rainfall in two days earlier in the week. I can only guess that our site was the low point for our side of the "C" Loop. Our site never dried, even with 3 days in the mid 80 degree mark. Our site was one of about 7 or 8 that had full hookups. Loops F and g also have full hookups. We took a hike to both loops and found our C Loop the nicest. It is smaller, but much more shade available. Bathhouse was clean but dated. Hot water was plentiful. This park is huge. Getting to any point other than the bathhouse will require hiking boots or a vehicle. The dog park and the beaches were awesome. We never made it to the Lodge for food, but friends said it was pretty good. Hiking trails could have been better marked and maintained. Overall. we had a good experience and will go back next year. My lower rating was for the wet condition of the campsite. The park really is awesome. We camped at Salt Fork State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We stayed in A loop (sites 21 and 22). Both of these sites had decent shade. Several (I would say most) sites throughout the park have no shade. Sites were concrete and level. Our site only had electric. The bathrooms appear to be very old and could definitely use an update. Sinks were rusty. Only peeked in at the shower house, but they looked okay. Also, there was only one restroom in each loop so some sites were quite a ways from them. We camped at Salt Fork State Park in a Truck Camper.

Tips for other Campers:

This is a great park for boating activites - large lake. There is a boat dock and beach for campers' use only. There is a public beach and marina for non-campers.

Big campground with lots to do, kid friendly, had a beach, trails, swimming pools(cost) playground, etc some sites were better (level) than others.

Please verify if your site has water and/or sewer. We had to extend our stay due to personal issues and the staff worked hard to accommodate us. We camped at Salt Fork State Park in a Motorhome.

Nice, family friendly campground. Definitely dog friendly. The wood sold at the camp store is not good burning wood. We highly recommend buying on your way in or making a trip out. Very frustrating to struggle with the campfire. Women's showers have more privacy than men's. Dressing area for men has no privacy at all (at least in F loop this is true.) Overall Rating:

This is a quite large state park in Eastern Ohio. We stayed in a FHU site, however there are not many to choose from. In the FHU site, there are only 3 or 4 sites that are large enough for a 30+ foot unit. Numerous walking paths as well as bridle trails are scattered throughout the park, and are well used. The bath/laundry facilities are in great shape, and fees for laundry are not too high. Traveling throughout the park takes a while because it is so large, but there are numerous sightseeing opportunities. We had no problem with noise or neighbors, but the site we were in backed our camper precariously over the edge of a hill. We camped at Salt Fork State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Lots of great activities at Salt Fork, and I was pleased that it offers an off leash area for the pups. Sites were nice, some shaded, some open. We had a full hookup site that had lots of space. TV reception was good, we received 7 channels, but a neighbor said they only had 1. He commented our antennae had a "wingman", but you guys probably know what that means. Nice hiking trails and other things we did not have time to check out. I did not go into the restrooms, but I did notice the exteriors needed painting- but as many parks lack adequate funding, I can understand how that gets overlooked. We camped at Salt Fork State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in a site with full hookups. It is a huge park with a large lake for boating and fishing. We ate at the lodge which has a nice restaurant. The campground we stayed in was backed up to a forest area but the campsites are easy to enter with paved roads. There are not a lot of activities other than hiking trails or water sports, but if you want a place to relax and enjoy nature walks, or rent a boat, this may be a place you would like. Bathrooms dirty (same dirt over 3 days). Trails overgrown with brambles and weeds. Electric only. Rude campers. (Dogs off leash, LOTS of bright lights on all night.) Campsites like camping in a field with no privacy. Beach looked ok, but nothing special. We camped at Salt Fork State Park in a Motorhome.

We loved this State Park. Plenty to do : Gem mining for the kids, swimming, hiking, playgrounds, beach, boating, arcade, and a lot more. The RV sites were exactly what you expect out of a nice campground. Everything worked well, and we had NO issues with the park or the other campers. One of the campstore staff members needs a lesson in customer service or needs to get a non-public job. Campground loops are all on a hill that sits a couple hundred feet above a large man-made lake. Woods are rugged with lots of briars, vines and poison ivy. Not many pines or hemlocks. Just typical hardwood forest. Well marked diverse trails. Huge beach. Large dog park. A lot of little private nooks. Deer everywhere. Ticks, too.

'A' loop is open at first but narrows into the trees. 'C' loop is in the trees but stays open year round by a bathroom/shower house that is open year round. 'E' loop is nice and open. 'F' and 'G' loops are very open and large. Most loops close by the end of November or early December except for 'C' loop. This park is huge with miles and miles of trails. I can hear the hwy off in a distance, but the sound is a very low din...barely hear it.

No monthly discounts, at least when I asked. We camped at Salt Fork State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Really mediocre park, in a really HUGE state park that requires you to drive everywhere (fishing, marina, pool, etc...) you want to go. The campground is large and the sites are well-spaced, but poorly maintained. We were at one of the few full hook-up sites, and the lid was broken off of the sewer connection, so that's open the whole time we're there. We camped on a Sunday and Monday (so there weren't many other campers), and staff decided to mow on Monday. Without regard to stirring up all the dust (it's been dry...), they keep mowing right on the sites that were occupied! Really?

I think perhaps they should have mowed less and sprayed for bugs more. On Monday night, the clouds of gnats were so pervasive throughout the park that you couldn't walk through the campground without getting absolutely covered with gnats. Huge clouds of 'em. It was awful.

Then, one evening, I ran to the camp store to get a couple little firestarters. I arrived at 4:55 (they close at 5), and met the attendant on the sidewalk who informed me that she'd already locked the door, so... I'm out of luck. She was literally 2 steps from the front door, with the keys still in her hand, and was closing 5mins early. There are only a few folks in the campground this Monday, so I'm sure she'd been busy all day and was ready to retire...

We had reservations for this park on our return trip for two nights (we thought it'd be nicer), and we forfeited the money to stay someplace else. Not really convenient to the interstate, not surrounded by things to see and do, and not a great park. We camped at Salt Fork State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Park was nice for our overnight purposes. Restrooms were clean, well used, but clean. Ample space between sites. Attendants were very friendly and helpful with discounts and all. We camped in a SportsMobile van and only required electric. Had no reservations, but did find a couple of nice sites on a Sunday night in July. Wouldn't want to spend a bunch of days here, but great for a night and not far from the interstate. We camped at Salt Fork State Park in a Motorhome.

This is one of the better state campgrounds we have stayed in. I just wish is was closer to us, cause we would be camping a lot more. There is all different kind of sites there to pick from. The size of sites are nice, you don't feel packed in. It would be a beautiful place to be at in the fall for the leaves changing. Can't wait to go back. Camping fee posted is for the Golden Buckeye Card (Seniors), 1/2 price. Unlike some other states there is no additional daily use fee at Ohio State Parks. Salt Fork is an "outdoor" park, meaning trails, lake, outdoor stuff. Sites are large and diverse. Camp area "C," has shade and is close to a bath house. It has no playground equipment but other areas do. There are a few full hookups but reservations for those are probably a necessity. The facilities are dated but are clean. The park is 6 miles from I-77 (exit 47), and it is a couple of more miles from the entrance to the campground. Roads are very good and most sites are level or might require a block. Watch for wildlife. There is a lodge with restaurant. There are convenience stores nearby and Cambridge is about 10 miles and has Walmart, supermarkets, chain restaurants, and other. We camped at Salt Fork State Park in a Travel Trailer.
