This has long been a favorite campground for us but we have not been there for over 5 years. Everything we like about this State Park is still there with even some improvements. The campground now offers some 50 amp sites. They still do not have water or sewer at the sites, however. Each site is large and private. Along with your RV, a tent is also allowed on your site. The sites are separated from each other by bushes and trees so you hardly know that you have neighbors. Our site was absolutely level and was big enough for two RV's. Some sites are even larger. We were separated by our neighbors by a line of bushes and trees. The only RV's we could see were across from us. There are many walking and biking paths in the State Park. Everything is no longer than 1 1/2 mile away. There is at least a half mile of beach right on Lake Erie as well as an inland water spot for the smallest of children that is fed by lake water. The park also boasts an 18 hole golf course, nature trail, cottages for rent. marina, and lodge with meals, rooms, and gift shop. We camped at Maumee Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you really have to leave the campground to go shopping or find a restaurant, there are plenty of places less than 15 minutes away on s.r. 2. Just head west on rte. 2 and you'll find them all.

What a pleasant state park! Asphalt roads, plenty of trees and greenery between sites and a large grassy area at each site. Very private campsites. Electric only but come prepared for that and it's a wonderful place to stay. We were pleased to find out at check-in that they are in the process of adding 50 amp and that some sites already have it. It isn't listed on the website but they are sites 1-29 and 96-100. I don't know how soon they will add more. We did not use the restrooms. Nice bike paths in the park. Our site 14 faced north and had trees providing shade in the afternoon. Some sites have more shade than others but you can see that on the website. Plenty of grass at the sites and around the park for dogs. No wifi but Verizon hotspot worked fine. Lots of OTA channels. We did not even try satellite for our 2 night stay. I gave it a 9 instead of 10 only because they don't have full hook-ups but what they do have is awesome. We would return. We camped at Maumee Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

This was a return visit. And again the park did not disappoint. If I have a negative about this park, it's the lack of shade. We managed to find a rather large tree that blocked the afternoon sun. We camped at Maumee Bay State Park in a Tent Trailer.

We stayed at the park, the sites were nice, our problem is we were unable to use the lodge pool or other recreational things! The lake water had the green algae bloom all over it, there were signs posted that it was not safe to swim. We love to swim and for 5 days we're unable to do so! Also the receptionist behind the desk was rude to both my husband and me. We've been to other state parks and we're allowed to use the lodge pools when we camped. Not a good camping trip! We camped at Maumee Bay State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a beautiful state park. The sites are large with plenty of grass between sites and shrubs for privacy. Our site 79 was next to a water spigot which was very convenient. Park staff and the volunteers were excellent. No tree cover so satellite reception was good, t-mobile required a booster. I concur with previous reviews regarding hiking, biking and beach. We stayed for five days. We camped at Maumee Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Ford museum was just a little more than an hour's drive to Detroit. A full day is required to see most of the museum. It was well worth the drive.

A beautiful park. Our site was paved with bushes/trees are both side so you couldn't see your neighbors. Electric only. They have a water fill station and dump on the way in/out. Plus water spigots scattered throughout. Nice walking/running/biking trails. Friendly, efficient staff. A beach, lodge with restaurant, nature center, golf course. We camped at Maumee Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

Really nice layout for a park with so many sites. Good privacy from neighbors on either side. Asphalt pad, pretty level. No water at site, but water close enough it was easy to refill our fresh water tank (I searched the satellite view, to find a site near a water spigot). Really nice paved biking trails. Easy access to Lake Erie beach by bike. Convenient to Toledo, OH, but far enough removed to be quiet and clean. We camped at Maumee Bay State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The National Museum of the Great Lakes is a fascinating museum (remember Gordon Lightfoot's song 'The Edmund Fitzgerald?), and they have a ship moored along side that was used for many years to haul ore, etc. on the Great Lakes. Worth a visit. Also, the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral is worth a visit. We didn't get to go inside, because they close on July 4th, but just looking at the intricate and complex carving on the exterior was worth the visit.

This is a nice park right on Lake Erie. There are 250+ identical sites with electric only. Water stations are throughout the campground and near the dump station at the entrance. Each site has some shrub/vegetation between for a little privacy. But no shade to speak of anywhere. We pull a 33' TT and there was plenty of room for both out TT and truck. There is a beach right on the lake. We camped at Maumee Bay State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is without a doubt the nicest state park we have ever stayed in! We made reservations online so in addition to the per night stay there was an $8 fee for that. Park is immaculate and there is easy access to beach. Plenty of places to walk the dogs. Bird watching. Spacious and private sites. Just fabulous! We camped at Maumee Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The beach is just a 10 minute walk , but swimming in Lake Erie is NOT recommend because of algae blooms, however pond with a beach area is just a short walk, with all kinds on concessions.

Overall Rating:

A beautiful park, beach and campground with 256 paved level sites in 8 loops with electrical hookups. The grounds were very clean and spaced with a small patch of shrubs and small trees in between for privacy. There are at least 2 drinking water/grey water stations in each loop. Showers and bathrooms were very clean and there is a laundry in one of the loops. There is a small playground near each of the restroom/shower buildings. There is even a small pond with free fishing for kids. There is also a hotel and conference center on the beach side with a big parking lot and a permanent outdoor reception tent setup. Very scenic and would be a nice place for a wedding reception. We enjoyed several miles of shaded bicycle paths/walking trails through the woods and along the beach. We biked over to the boardwalk at the Nature Center and walked the 2 mile loop. Didn't see a lot of birds, but it could be nice during some times of the year. Although we stayed in Campsite#75, a sunny corner spot, the night was quiet. There was a nice grassy area to spread out the yoga mat and a picnic table. Fees were $28 Sunday - Thursday including electric, $29 Friday and Saturday, and $30 Holidays Friday thru Sunday. We paid only $14 each night with our 50% off Passport America. They also offer military discounts. We camped at Maumee Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

Very well maintained state park -- clean and manicured. Bike, hike, swim, it's all here. The Friends of Maumee Bay even had coffee and donuts in the shelter on Sat and Sun, plus an ice cream social Sat night. The only downside is that there is only 1 dump station for a 250+ campsite park. Lucky we stayed until Monday morning, so we did not have an issue dumping. Campsites were private and well laid out, with trees between the sites. Our loop backed up to an open meadow / woods. We camped at Maumee Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here June 3rd for 4 nights. The layout is awesome! All back-in level sites. Electric at site only, but they have water. You can fill your fresh water tank before getting to your site. Signs telling you area for site numbers no guessing on where your site is. Friendly people- different activities every weekend. Family oriented activities. Bike trails- nature center - beach on Lake Erie. Spacious sites trees between most sites for privacy. Not sure the cost I stated?? Bathrooms and shower rooms immaculate.
