Exceptional bathroom/shower facilities - the bathrooms are clean and modern and the are in good repair; the showers are individual lockable shower rooms with a bench and hooks. Many of the sites, however, need maintenance. The site pad is asphalt, but only as wide as the camper. For probably half the sites there is a drop off from the asphalt pad to ground level. This makes for a steep, and dangerous step out of the camper. Also, if it has been raining there is nothing but mud where the door side of the camper is. Many sites short, but some pretty good views of the lake. Some of the interior sites are better and less "impacted". We camped at West Branch State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Closest grocery store is about 6 miles away

Lovely park well kept with good space between sites. We don't use their showers/bathrooms normally but I did check them out & building was newer and cleanliness was average. We had a pull thru with full hookups and were very happy. Beautiful surroundings, wasy drive from interstate. Note: full hookups MUST be reserved in advance. Otherwise if you arrive after hours you can only get electric. Supposedly you can reserve same day for a site. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We met friends for dinner in Cuyahoga Falls which was @ 40 mins away @ seemed to have a good selection.

We spent a day at the Rock and Roll hall of fame and boarded our dogs at Camp Bow wow in Cuyahoga Falls.

This state park is close to Akron. The park itself is well maintained, paved sites, full hook ups are available. The sites aren't always very level, however, ours wasn't too bad. Some of the campsite loop roads are very narrow. It is very quiet and orderly. We found it hard to make a reservation thru Reserve America so we called directly without much satisfaction. We took our chances and just rolled up and had the good fortune to get a full hook up site. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed 4 nights to see the area based upon the positive reviews for this location. That was a mistake.

The park is far enough from I-76 (Exit 43, SR-14) so there is no noise from the Interstate but if you follow the signs to the park they take you along Rock Spring Rd (SR-183). Rock Spring Rd is in poor condition - narrow, patches over patches. It is better to use SR-14 to SR-5 to Rock Spring Rd. Using that route, you only have to go over a steep railroad crossing overpass just after you turn off SR-5 onto Rock Spring Rd. Yes, there is train noise in the park from these nearby tracks and low flying military cargo aircraft.

Our rating was influenced by how well the park is cared for and condition of the shower/laundry/bathhouses. Had it not been cared for so well and the shower/laundry/bathhouses in such good condition, the rating would have been lower as this is another park that doesn't understand the simple concept of the importance of a flat, level parking pad!

The interior roads and site parking pads were paved. Only a handful of sites appeared level. The majority had a single or double pitch some of which were significant. Saw one Class C motorhome with about 12" of blocking under one from tire and about 6" of blocking under the other front tire trying to get level. Saw one travel trailer with the rear stabilizing jacks extended completely with about 6" of blocking under the jacks and the tongue hitch right on the ground trying to get level. There is a lot of privacy between the sites due to vegetation and park layout. They have full hook ups - water, electricity (50 amp), and multiple sewer connections. The utility connections were about midway down the sites. There was fluctuating water pressure. There was an outside table and fire pit but the layout for the campsites are strange to say the least. Some have the table and fire pit behind the parking pad and others have the table and fire pit on the side opposite the RV's door(s). We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Although the campground is on a lake, there really isn't a view or access to the lake from most of the campsites. There are a handful of sites that have a view of the lake but the extensive vegetation reduces the view of the lake. The bank is steep so getting to the lake is difficult.

We made day trips out to visit several National Park Sites (Guyahoga Valley National Park, David Berger NM, First Ladies NHS & James A Garfield NHS).

Second stay here. The RR were great. Always clean. Quiet most of the time. Used the park as a base for biking in the NP north of Akron. Mainly a boating SP. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Tent Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

check out the A&W root beer stands...... hadn't done that for 50+ years.

Bike & ride in the near by NP was a good value.

Nice park with lots to do. Park was laid out by the US Army Corps of Engineers so lots of space between sites, but as the park has been around for sometime roads can be narrow and backing into some spots with a larger rig can present a challenge. Staff is very helpful. We had a 'beach' area very close to our site and we were able to launch our kayaks in a little cove right behind our site. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you just want to stay in the park, fine, but park is very close to other activities including the Aurora Outlets, lots of shopping.

Great area if you have a boat, kayak or canoe.

The limited number of full hookup sites tend to get booked months in advance - not even the campground hosts get one! But forgoing water and sewer isn't much of a hardship with bath houses like these, and it's only $1.25 to wash a load of clothes. Sites are 50 amp and huge. Most are screened by trees and vegetation on three sides, fairly level side-to-side but pretty sloped front-to-back. Narrow (10') asphalt pads, but the roads are plenty wide for backing in (some pull-through sites). It's incredibly quiet at night, and we had an awesome view of the Perseid meteor shower!

Most of the staff were delightful, but one lady in the office ignored us each time we approached the desk and either helped people behind us (who came in several minutes after we did) or disappeared into the back without a word. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Several hiking trails as well as mountain bike, bridle and snow mobile trails (street bikes have to stick to the road). Paddle boards are available for rent, and maybe kayaks since they offer a (free!) ranger-led kayaking trip on Saturdays. Beaches, movie night for the kids, ice cream social, etc.

The park campground is kept clean and rules are enforced enough to ensure a pleasant experience for everyone. There is no swimming pool, but there is a small beach available at the campground, and a larger beach within the park. The showers and laundry facilities are kept clean and in good condition. We have already made reservations to stay here again. I only wish there were more full hookup sites available, as we had to use an electric-only site. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This park is geared toward quiet and nature. Fishing and "no HP limit" boating are excellent. The small town of Ravenna is only a few minutes away with a few dining and shopping choices, but if you want more you will have to drive about an hour to Akron, where there are many choices.

Nice state park with good paved sites. Overall this park was manicured to perfection. (Great job, workers.) We had 50 amp only with no water or sewer. There is water and a dump station available if needed. Our RV is 40' long. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

We spent a lot of time at Westbranch. The sites are nice although they are not very level. There is privacy between most sites. The bathrooms are excellent and are well maintained. The camp store has basic essentials. There are weekend movies and ice cream socials. The utilities work well and are 30/50 amp. My AT&T cell service works well at most sites. Our biggest complaint; however, is that it is very difficult to get a spot. Reservations can be made six months in advance. It is nearly impossible to get a spot for a holiday weekend. This frustration has led us to searching out other Ohio State parks. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

One of Ohio's best state parks. The bathrooms are the cleanest I've seen anywhere in the country. The park is laid out well. All sites are blacktop. There is a small store on site, a nice playground, a boat ramp, and a small beach area. I would give this park a ten, but it's very hard to get in here. If you try to reserve a spot six months in advance, you better be on the phone at the stroke of midnight or you will be out of luck. Weekday stays are much easier to achieve. This isn't a fault of the park. In fact it's a testament to how nice Westbranch truly is. It's just frustrating that the park fills so quickly. Some spots are better than others. My favorite electric-only sites are 1 or 2. If you like the sun, site 15 and 55. If you like a view of the lake while being in the shade, site 87 or 93 and if you want a pull thru FHU sites 105-109. The camper hosts are friendly and approachable. Nice park! We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice wooded campground with spacious sites, some of which were on the lake (though no direct access to lake on most because of cliffs). Stayed in a back-in full hook-up site, but would choose a pull-through site next time due to short length of cement pad for both trailer and vehicle. Low water pressure for the 5 days we were there. Peaceful campground but not a lot to do for children. There is a small beach area and 1 playground near office. The restroom/shower buildings were the nicest I have even seen--modern, spacious, had a foyer with washers & dryers, section for books to borrow, individual showers and very spacious bathroom stalls, plus stainless steel sinks and benches outside. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Really nice wooded park on Army Corps of Engineers reservoir. For our motorhome, we found paved sites challengingly narrow and sloped. Utility connections were easy, water pressure was poor. Park management has some personnel issues that put us in a site that was already booked for part of the week we planned to stay. We camped in the full hookup area. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.
