I have to say, this is the best State Park campground we have stayed at. They have a mixture of full hookup, pull-through, and tent camping. Most sites are very spacious, so you are not on top of each other, plenty of room. It was very quiet and right next to a lake. If you have a boat, this is a great place to go! Their marina has boats you can rent as well. For a state park, it was really nice! The bathrooms are top notch with great showers, better than some RV resorts. I would rate this park a 5 out of 5! We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We towed our motorcycle and did a lot of riding in the country. Not far from Canton, Akron, and Cleveland but we stayed out of the cities. If you are looking for a very quiet place to relax, this is the place. They have a small beach on the campgrounds and a large one on the other side of the lake.

I would like to give this state park a higher rating, but the lady in the office neglected to find our reservation, causing an undue panic for us. We later called her with the reservation confirmation number, but hey, with the dates and our last name this shouldn't be difficult to find. Furthermore, I like kids, but there were kids running rampant everywhere. Maybe preventing children from biking near high traffic areas would be helpful and more safe? And if you have a tow vehicle unhitch it prior to entering the campground because this loop is a busy loop with some not so patient. We were a little late on check out and starting getting angry phone calls from the CG host. I called and explained the situation to the "manager on duty" and she took care of the situation. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

Be aware most sites are not full hookups. We thought we reserved a full hookup but it was electric only. Our bad. The route we took came from I-76 through Edinburg. Rock Spring road from Edinburg to the park is very rough, and it's about 5 miles long. The sides of the roads have been patched and not very well. Check in was quick as we only had to pick up our car pass and park map. However, we had some questions later and the staff seemed pretty uninformed. We had to pull into a parking lot on the other side of the check in area to unhook our car and then backtrack to our site. We were in site 1, and just so you know, sites 1-3 are right in front of where you check in. There must be quite the roadblock on busy check in days while people are trying to back into these spaces. Most of the sites are fairly short so few will handle large units. Site 1 is paved, long and pretty level. We were not able to get satellite coverage due to trees. Verizon cell worked fine. There is no WII FI. Quiet at night, and lots of boats and jet skis during the day. The showers are utilitarian. There was a sign indicating if the water was cold to let it run 15 minutes!?! Be ready for the no see um biters when you are outside! The picnic table has seen better days. Seems like a busy weekend place for local boaters. The price for value is low at $28 plus $8 reservation fee for electric only. We wouldn't stay here again. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

Good: Sites nicely spaced; bathrooms clean; great Verizon coverage Bad: some noise from powerboats on the lake Overall reasonably well maintained. Would be a good destination for fishers and boaters, but also worked for us for a two-night base station to visit Cuyahoga N.P. Nice Bathrooms: modern fixtures, separate showers, mostly clean. Downsides were lack of heating, low water pressure, mold on shower curtain. Several washer/dryer pairs in each bathroom. Asphalt roads and pads. Sites reasonably separated, but some pads are visibly sloped, and most pads looked very narrow. We paid $26 + $8 res fee for electrical only (no water or sewer at site). Full hookups cost $35. Many sites are open and no trees, but others are among moderately wooded areas. Sites 4-10 close to kids play area and very open - ok for parents who want to stay at the site but still keep and eye on the kids. Sites 21, 35 and 51-69 seem most private. Verizon very good: 3bars, 4G We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

Nice clean campground in a beautiful area on the lake. There are very few FHU sites so make reservations well ahead of time. Rates are $32 for FHU and $26 for electric only. There are lots of near flat roads to ride a bike and a playground for the kids. Seasonal activities are organized for family fun and outdoor movies on weekends. Sites are nicely spaced and private. Campground has a quiet laid back feel. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Paved sites, fairly level and quite wide. Didn't use restrooms but did peek in and not only are they spacious and clean, but each building contains laundry facilities and a book exchange. We would come here again if we are in the area. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

Exceptional bathroom/shower facilities - the bathrooms are clean and modern and the are in good repair; the showers are individual lockable shower rooms with a bench and hooks. Many of the sites, however, need maintenance. The site pad is asphalt, but only as wide as the camper. For probably half the sites there is a drop off from the asphalt pad to ground level. This makes for a steep, and dangerous step out of the camper. Also, if it has been raining there is nothing but mud where the door side of the camper is. Many sites short, but some pretty good views of the lake. Some of the interior sites are better and less "impacted". We camped at West Branch State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lovely park well kept with good space between sites. We don't use their showers/bathrooms normally but I did check them out & building was newer and cleanliness was average. We had a pull thru with full hookups and were very happy. Beautiful surroundings, wasy drive from interstate. Note: full hookups MUST be reserved in advance. Otherwise if you arrive after hours you can only get electric. Supposedly you can reserve same day for a site. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This state park is close to Akron. The park itself is well maintained, paved sites, full hook ups are available. The sites aren't always very level, however, ours wasn't too bad. Some of the campsite loop roads are very narrow. It is very quiet and orderly. We found it hard to make a reservation thru Reserve America so we called directly without much satisfaction. We took our chances and just rolled up and had the good fortune to get a full hook up site. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed 4 nights to see the area based upon the positive reviews for this location. That was a mistake.

The park is far enough from I-76 (Exit 43, SR-14) so there is no noise from the Interstate but if you follow the signs to the park they take you along Rock Spring Rd (SR-183). Rock Spring Rd is in poor condition - narrow, patches over patches. It is better to use SR-14 to SR-5 to Rock Spring Rd. Using that route, you only have to go over a steep railroad crossing overpass just after you turn off SR-5 onto Rock Spring Rd. Yes, there is train noise in the park from these nearby tracks and low flying military cargo aircraft.

Our rating was influenced by how well the park is cared for and condition of the shower/laundry/bathhouses. Had it not been cared for so well and the shower/laundry/bathhouses in such good condition, the rating would have been lower as this is another park that doesn't understand the simple concept of the importance of a flat, level parking pad!

The interior roads and site parking pads were paved. Only a handful of sites appeared level. The majority had a single or double pitch some of which were significant. Saw one Class C motorhome with about 12" of blocking under one from tire and about 6" of blocking under the other front tire trying to get level. Saw one travel trailer with the rear stabilizing jacks extended completely with about 6" of blocking under the jacks and the tongue hitch right on the ground trying to get level. There is a lot of privacy between the sites due to vegetation and park layout. They have full hook ups - water, electricity (50 amp), and multiple sewer connections. The utility connections were about midway down the sites. There was fluctuating water pressure. There was an outside table and fire pit but the layout for the campsites are strange to say the least. Some have the table and fire pit behind the parking pad and others have the table and fire pit on the side opposite the RV's door(s). We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Although the campground is on a lake, there really isn't a view or access to the lake from most of the campsites. There are a handful of sites that have a view of the lake but the extensive vegetation reduces the view of the lake. The bank is steep so getting to the lake is difficult.

We made day trips out to visit several National Park Sites (Guyahoga Valley National Park, David Berger NM, First Ladies NHS & James A Garfield NHS).

Nice park with lots to do. Park was laid out by the US Army Corps of Engineers so lots of space between sites, but as the park has been around for sometime roads can be narrow and backing into some spots with a larger rig can present a challenge. Staff is very helpful. We had a 'beach' area very close to our site and we were able to launch our kayaks in a little cove right behind our site. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The limited number of full hookup sites tend to get booked months in advance - not even the campground hosts get one! But forgoing water and sewer isn't much of a hardship with bath houses like these, and it's only $1.25 to wash a load of clothes. Sites are 50 amp and huge. Most are screened by trees and vegetation on three sides, fairly level side-to-side but pretty sloped front-to-back. Narrow (10') asphalt pads, but the roads are plenty wide for backing in (some pull-through sites). It's incredibly quiet at night, and we had an awesome view of the Perseid meteor shower!

Most of the staff were delightful, but one lady in the office ignored us each time we approached the desk and either helped people behind us (who came in several minutes after we did) or disappeared into the back without a word. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Several hiking trails as well as mountain bike, bridle and snow mobile trails (street bikes have to stick to the road). Paddle boards are available for rent, and maybe kayaks since they offer a (free!) ranger-led kayaking trip on Saturdays. Beaches, movie night for the kids, ice cream social, etc.
