Plan to arrive at Gate 12 as it is a 24/7 gate. The Famcamp is on the far side of the base. It is very nice with concrete level sites. We camped at Wright-Patt FamCamp at Bass Lake (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a small but pleasant campground. Sites are aligned in three rows and are a cozy fit. There is a nice lake to fish and boat in and lots of grassy area to walk the dog. Our only complaint was that the closest gate (26A) is not open after hours, weekends, or holidays. The main gate (12A) that allstays map brings you to is the furthest point from the campground. Add winding roads and infrequent signage and things get exciting. Ask the gate guard for a map and directions. We camped at Wright-Patt FamCamp at Bass Lake (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

The National Museum of the USAF is a must see. Allow a full day to explore. Also Carillon Historical Park had an original 1905 Wright Flyer on display. Aviation Trail provides several interesting sights.

Stayed for 3 nights, wish we had time to stay longer. This park is well managed, well maintained , and in a beautiful part of the base. The only drawback was the dock was under construction and they didn't know how long it would be before it was available for use again. We camped at Wright-Patt FamCamp at Bass Lake (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

This park is in a great location to visit Dayton, Ohio. The Famcamp is in a nice location of a lake that can be used for small boats and fishing. We camped at Wright-Patt FamCamp at Bass Lake (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

The only reason it didn't get a 10 was because there was no cable. This is a very nice park with concrete pads, paved roads well-kept grassy areas between the sites. Large dog walking area. The WiFi was good, Verizon cell service was good and water pressure was decent. The people running the famcamp are very nice and helpful. Sites were easy to get in (well....we had pull through - how hard can it be!). My point is there is plenty of room to maneuver. We would go back. Sites are level and it is convenient to stay on base. Making a reservation can be a pain as there are several numbers listed online to call. Signs leading in provide conflicting guidance, one sent us to Outdoor Rec to sign in, who in turn told us that was unnecessary and sent us back to the campground. There are a lot of folks here on what appears to be a more permanent basis, which occupies many of the full hookup sites, frustrating for those of us trying to use the facilities in conjunction with a PCS, but c'est la vie. Facilities are adequate, showers and restrooms are average and fairly clean. No open fires are allowed in RV sites, so be prepared for that if your family is expecting s'mores and a campfire. You can probably rent one of the tent sites for a few bucks, a few have stone firepits. We camped at Wright-Patt FamCamp at Bass Lake (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

One of the nicest campgrounds we've stayed in. Spotlessly clean. Sites are quiet, spacious, level and easy to get in and out. Lots of grassy areas to walk dogs. Close to the flight line but rarely heard planes. WIfi (free) worked very well on one of our laptops but not so well on the other (less expensive) one. One odd thing is the information board faces the office which is just past the campground and next to the lake, so you don't see it coming in. Check-out is noon so check-in would be any time after that. Easiest way to stay here is call for reservations and pay by phone, then just pull into your site when you get here. Would definitely stay again. We camped at Wright-Patt FamCamp at Bass Lake (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Try to arrive between noon and 6 pm M-F so you can use Gate 26-A off Hwy 235. It's much easier than winding through the base from Gate 12-A which is open 24/7. Allow lots of time for the National Museum of the USAF (2 to 4 days). Shopping and restaurants are within a few miles of Gate 12-A.

Beautiful park located in wilderness side of base. Sites were asphalt and fairly level. Some sites had shade. Electricity was reliable, but water pressure was quite low. Park is located only steps from Bass Lake. Guests may use the club house which includes a game room with pool table. Camp host was extremely helpful and friendly, and made our stay very enjoyable. Commissary and BX are on the opposite side of the base. We camped at Wright-Patt FamCamp at Bass Lake (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

We called for reservations and paid over the phone. That way we parked in our site when we arrived without having to check in with anyone. Stayed 4 nights in overflow which is the first row of back-ins facing the street as you enter the park Overflow has 50 amps and water. There's a dump station. Restrooms and shower were cleaned regularly. Small laundry room but cheap - $1 to wash, 50 cents to dry. Our site was long and level. No shade. Grass was cut regularly. Met the camp host who was super helpful. She was always busy doing something outside. Water pressure was very low. All the full hook up sites and pull thrus were taken or reserved while we were there, most for longer than two weeks. The park is on base but not close to much. I'd stay again for a day or two but not worth it to me for any longer. We camped at Wright-Patt FamCamp at Bass Lake (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

We stayed here several days in our Class A with toad while we taught on base. The convenience of being able to stay nearby while providing instruction was a big plus. The FamCamp is quite a drive from the main gate which makes locating it more difficult for nighttime check-in. We found the site we stayed fairly level, and sewer, water, and 50 amp hookups worked fine. Water pressure is a little low at the camp. The bathrooms. . . well, I don't recommend using them unless they are cleaned and upgraded. The machines in the laundry facilities were also lacking in maintenance, so we used the washer/dryer in our rig for laundry. The on-site staff was friendly but the office staff is lacking in service. We made several calls to the office, left messages and requested call-back but most requests went unanswered. The same was true for the on-base staff we were working with. There was some construction being performed at one of the sites due to a water leak, but that did not detract from our stay. There are probably better facilities in the area, but for sheer sake of convenience while working on base we would return to the location. We needed to have work done to our rig (air suspension hose fitting sheered off in Indiana) and found a company (Interstate) that could come on base to do the work. That was a BIG plus! Of the FamCamps we have stayed at, these facilities were the worst. Still, if you are required to do work on base, this camp is doable. We camped at Wright-Patt FamCamp at Bass Lake (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

The grass really needs mowing, the water pressure was about 15 lbs (per my gauge), the sites were fairly level. The folks working at the check-in were friendly but had no ideal what spaces were open. We were given 4 spots which were already filled, so I just told them which spots were empty and was given that one. They told me they were just reopening so this could be part of the problem. Doubt if we would stay here again. We camped at Wright-Patt FamCamp at Bass Lake (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

This Fam Camp is OK for a one nighter. The only place we could park was the "Overflow" according to the directions on the check in site (where there was no one around). We left a $22.00 check in the drop box and backed our RV into the spot. I was going to leave it hooked up but it was not possible due to the slight incline of the spots. The grass was brown, no fire rings, no picnic tables, and a long drive from the gate and anything else in on base. But again, it is good for a in-route stop but I would not stay there for an extended time. We camped at Wright-Patt FamCamp at Bass Lake (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Bare bones military FamCamp, but if you are using them, you expect that. You get W/S/E and a small bathhouse. Sites are nicely paved and pretty close to level with adequate spacing between sites for big rigs with slide outs. Grass needed mowing but funds are tight so the base pays minimal attention to the Fam Camp. Despite some vacant sites, I'd recommend reservations since you have to find outdoor rec to pay for your site if you didn't make one and pay in advance. More info on this FamCamp and more can be found at www.militarycampgrounds.us. We'd stay here again. We camped at Wright-Patt FamCamp at Bass Lake (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice military campground. Pull thru sites are long and relatively level. Fair amount of room between sites. Walking distance to Bass Lake for fishing. W/S/E was easily accessible. Yes, Reveille was sounded at 0730, but its a military base folks! Yes we were close to runway, but there was minimal take offs and landings on Friday, and none over the weekend. Unlike Dover AFB where they are flying 24/7 and practicing "touch and goes". Family camp is a little hard to find, especially if you arrive on the weekend. Gate openings are limited. Recommend you ask for a map of the base upon arrival. Campground is quiet and MPs routinely drive through. Did not use bathhouse or laundry facilities. Campground is big rig friendly, with turn arounds. Grounds well kept. Would stay again. We camped at Wright-Patt FamCamp at Bass Lake (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

The last review from 2010 just about says it all. Not much has changed. Was interesting to get awakened by reveille 7:30 am. I did see some campers fishing in the small lake, and the office staff was very nice. There were frequent drive throughs by the MP's. Washateria was small but nice.
