The biggest negative about this campground is its proximity to highway 70 which creates a lot of traffic noise. We were in site 50 which is the closest to traffic noise. Some of the other sites are further from traffic and closer to lake. The grounds were somewhat neglected with fire pits having trash in them. Our Verizon and Dish tailgater worked well. Some sites were very shady, but ours was fairly open as it had the boat launch area on one side. There are no trails for walking. The person who checked us in was very helpful in that she allowed us the option of choosing any open site even though we had a reservation. If you Re traveling east on highway 70, as soon as you exit the bridge that crosses the lake, there is a small brown sign on the right that says Johnson creek. The turn is to the left and it is easy to miss. We camped at Johnson Creek COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Durant has anything you would need.

50a Electric good, Sewer is a dump on the way out, water @ 100 psi and not close to the site. Some sites that are on the curve of the road have water on the wrong side of the site. Wi-Fi is not available. AT&T Cell Phone fair with 2 bars. AT&T Air Card is strong. Verizon 4G LTE Air Card is good but not as fast as AT&T. Cable not available. Site #44 is level and long enough for my 5th wheel & truck to be on the same site. Site width is good and have plenty of room for awnings. Also much open area to walk your dog. Internal road is asphalt and in good condition. Didn't use restrooms. DirecTV Satellite is good if your not close to trees. Golden Age passport allows a 50% discount. Payment for walk in is by check. This is a nice campground and I would stay here again. We camped at Johnson Creek COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you like to hear country music "That Country Music Place" 3 miles toward Durant is great music only on Friday, music and dancing on Saturday night both start about 7pm. No alcohol. Concession stand inside.
Also the casino is in Durant if you want to gamble or go bowling. Bring your boat if you want to fish. A boat ramp is close to the 50amp sites.

Nice level blacktop sites. Water hookups are shared and a long way away. Some power hookups are on the curb side. No sewer hookups but dump station available. No checks on the campers so dogs run loose and you need to watch for aggressive animals. The water was on even though the COE phone contact said it wouldn't be. The price shown was with the Golden Age discount. A nice to stay. Thunder storms were severe while we were there. Definitely not the nicest COE park we have been in but still better than most state and private. We camped at Johnson Creek COE in a Fifth Wheel.
