Very nice park and very secure...had to have a gate code to get in. Nice pools (2) and lots to do for kids including being right on the Illinois River. The only down side is that, for an RV park in the woods, it is very expensive. Over $50 a night (without discount) is very high. We camped at Marval Family Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Management is horrible - very rude and condescending. They drive by constantly checking to be sure you aren't doing anything wrong. They are so bad that a sweet elderly couple that works here told us they both quit this morning because management is so bad. We cannot wait to leave and would leave today if we could get a refund. They call themselves a "resort" - come on now. My site is muddy. They hate dogs and people with dogs so if you are a dog lover/ owner like we are, do yourself a favor and do not stay here. There is a State Park not far from here - I went to find another campground to stay at next time we are in this area -- they are very nice and only $25/ night. "You never know who you are talking to, but always know who's watching you". Lots to do for children, but no privacy and nosy staff. They are not dog people. Clearly. Mine is a 12 year old beagle that doesn't do much, never barks and is never outside unattended. We camped at Marval Family Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

I've been there multiple times and it is a clean family friendly park. However, when there is a mistake the managers will not own up to it. In 2016 I had made reservations for specific cabins for Labor Day 2017. About two weeks before the weekend, I emailed them to confirm the cabin numbers and was told we did not have the cabins I had booked. I was able to rebook a smaller cabin, but they would not refund the difference. When booking you need to ensure that you get everything in writing in the event there is an issue. We camped at Marval Family Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

It's definitely "family friendly". Large, elaborate play structures. Children had a blast. Site was grass, very spacious, sunny. Right adjacent to the playground. Plenty of activities. Our girls bought and painted little ceramic casts in the activity center. Also, had an Easter egg hunt. Pool was a bit small, but I noticed they're close to opening a new one on the other end of the campground. Some demerits would be the overall appearance. Most of it looks pretty run down. The cabins are cute, and appear well maintained (from the outside), but the other campground buildings are ratty and cheap 'tool shed' construction. There were a few full time sites that looked pretty neglected. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Could do without the younger ones racing around all day in the golf carts, tho. We experienced a hard rain our last night there, which flooded the grass, and made a muddy mess when driving thru it. Also, hit a small tree stump pulling out. Didn't cause any problems, but they really should have ground it down. Road directions were a bit confusing. There should be more "one way" signs to direct traffic- not just one when you arrive at a bottleneck. We camped at Marval Family Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This CG just keeps getting better. They have added numerous RV sites and new cabins. There are plenty of activities for young and old and everyone in between. The fishing is like anywhere else. Some days are great and some not so great, but the river is always enjoyable. The staff is friendly and willing to assist in whatever manner necessary. We have camped here for several and will continue to do so. They have also added an Off-Leash dog park which our dogs just love. The rest of the park is dog friendly, but they really enjoy being able to run free We just wish they could get the county to widen the access road between the highway and the entrance to the park. It can get exciting if you meet another large rig as you enter or exit the park. We camped at Marval Family Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Upper Illinois River, Tenkiller Lake and the Lower Illinois (Below the dam) are great for boating, floating, swimming, snorkeling and fishing of all kinds. There are cities and sites of historical significance nearby and in just about every direction. Just bring your toys and you"ll find some place to use them. There are several small eateries close by, but if you're looking for upscale dining and entertainment you will have to travel a little bit (approx. 40 miles northwest, north or east).

Very low hanging tree branches on the county road to the park and within the park kept me from rating higher. Park managers seemed unconcerned about the trees on the county road saying it was not their problem. The park seemed to have quite a few permanent residents, but the place is very clean, with good sized level sites. Lots of family activities. One surprise was the lack of trash receptacles - you had to go to the far end of the park to find one. Aside from the tree branches and lack of trash bins, it was a nice park. Very nice friendly staff. Nice level sites. The trees could stand a trimming to avoid the roofs of taller trailers. We would stay here again. We camped at Marval Family Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate reflects the Good Sam discount. This campground continues not to disappoint! We managed to call after hours to get a spot at the last minute and after a returned phone call (10 minutes tops)we had reservations. Lot's of amenities for kids. Staff had exceptional attitudes. Elec worked as supposed to with very stable power. Concrete level parking pad. Lot's of space between sites. This was a great camping experience! We camp here regularly (2x this year). Awesome park! Lots of activities for the kids. There is a swimming pool with a splash park. They have recently added a water balloon station. Frisbee golf has been added as well. Trout fishing in the river is excellent. We like the central location of the campground so close to the many lakes and rivers in the area. Within minutes you can be at Lake Tenkiller, Greenleaf State Park, Arkansas River, and of course the Lower Illinois River which runs right through the campground. Can't say enough about this gem. We definitely will be back. We camped at Marval Family Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

A friendly, well-run, and lovely place to camp. The folks were very helpful; we had an escort to our pull-through space. A neighbor lent us a socket wrench and helped us with a water connection. The restrooms and showers are immaculate, and the entire campground looks like a fun place to be in the high season. We would definitely consider making this a destination campground. We've had a very nice overnight stay. We camped at Marval Family Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Park is beautiful. There are cottages and RV slots. Our space is a little small for a 39-ft rig but they did accommodate us at the last minute and the space they wanted to give us was unexpectedly occupied. The ground has more of a slope than I would like, it's hard to get our 5'er level without lifting the tires off the ground. If they have pull through sites, they don't have a river view that I can tell. That aside, the staff is very friendly and the river view is very nice to wake up to. There is a small store at the office and lots of activity centers. The town of Gore is somewhat small but there is a grocery store, a small cafe, pizza joint, and a hardware store. People are very nice here but it is somewhat remote. We camped at Marval Family Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Outstanding family park! We got a free night because we stayed 5 nights. All reviews have pretty much covered everything. The pool was closed, but it looked very nice. So many activities for children! There were huge rains when we were there. It would help if a little more gravel could be spread; some of the cabins had loblollies around them, but the kids had a great time even though the Trail of Terror had to be cancelled because of the rain. That and the location of the trash were the only things that needed to be improved. We definitely want to come back. Everyone was extremely friendly. The Sunday morning breakfast was nice. Good Sam rate for a pull-thru full hookup. This is a family destination Park, even though we only used it for a one-nighter. Six-miles off I-40, quiet at night. Our site was a level concrete pad, shade trees, fire pit and picnic table. Lots and lots of stuff for kids do do, and the Illinois River runs through the grounds. Individual locking rooms for the showers and bathrooms, very clean. Wifi and cable TV worked fine. Friendly staff. The biggest negative is no garbage cans anywhere, why?
