4 Parks near Sallisaw, Oklahoma
Apr 2013 - $15.00
The reason for this review is to let everyone know this park may have access for "big rigs," but it is certainly not big rig friendly! We have a 45' motorhome and love staying at parks like this, so based on previous reviews that said this was big rig friendly, we took a chance. First sign of trouble was low bridge shortly after turning off the interstate. Fortunately it was 13'9" clearance, so our awning sensors and cb antenna made it through ok. Next challenge was the extremely narrow two lane road on the way to the park. We don't mind 7 miles off the interstate. We do mind having to "white knuckle" it when a truck comes from the opposite way. Fortunately, we made it to the park with side mirrors intact. Again, extremely narrow up and down roads to get to park and once inside park. Saturday night so only site available that was long enough was on the lake - nice! Problem was, you had to come from the other way to get into it, and to get the other way you had to navigate an even narrower road -up down and around - with BIG trees immediately next to the road. After the whole fiasco of just getting to the park, we decided not to chance our mirrors again and left. We were highly disappointed because it really was a lovely park, it's just not in the least big rig friendly. - hddebbie
Sep 2012 - $15.00
This is one of the nicest parks we've stayed in, alto' the city of Sallisaw has taken over the running of it. The park hosts have been there for years, and treat it like their own home. It's as little way off the interstate, but well worth it for the price. The city really needs to promote this small park! - GoinPlaces
Apr 2011 - $18.00
Nice campground close to Rt40. Lakeside sites are a little older but kept looking good. Only 30amp but that was fine with us. There was some talk about closing this park...so check with them first. - yankeeflyer1
May 2008 - $7.00
Very nice, this is a COE campground, regular price is $15. but with golden age card get it for $7.50, sites are right on lake, but campground is hard to find and signs are not good, but worth it once you get there, will say again - jim1
May 2015 - $19.00
We would of liked it better if the restrooms didnt have mold in them. We stayed there because our son lived close by and we were traveling through and wanted to visit. The price was good with the PA discount . The sights were level they were concrete strips. We would stay again if we had too. - cindy coffey
Apr 2015 - $19.00
This is an old, tree covered park, but well maintained except for fallen leaves, and picnic tables need paint. Some full-timers with typical outside storage items. Gravel roads with adequate travel width and high-branched trees. An eclectic mix of gravel, paved and concrete pads, all level. There are four short-term 30 amp pull-thrus with double-strip concrete pads; the three short-term 50 amp pull-thrus were gravel. It rained every day and night, but the roads and pads, with a few low spot exceptions, drained well leaving the surfaces useable. Utilities were serviceable; antenna TV reception was excellent. AT&T cell was adequate; park internet was adequate for web surfing when others were not using it. The indoor pool is available only in the summer. Some road noise, but quiet at night. Excellent value with PA. Would return. - LoneWolf
Mar 2015 - $27.00
Nice clean park with friendly helpful owners. They don't take credit cards but do take checks.
Park and buildings are clean and everything except one washing machine worked. WiFi worked well at site. Good power.
Lots of trees but also open enough to get satellite signal.
Would stay here again. - Brian & Corky
May 2016 - $36.00
We have stayed here in the past and that is why we returned. Very friendly owners past and present; however, the present owners have the policy that if you want to reserve a site they insist on a credit card to hold it. That I have no problem with; HOWEVER, their policy is if you call and cancel the reservation, they still charge your credit card no matter what the reason is. I told them I don't agree with that due to the fact what if you have RV breakdown, or weather does not permit continuing on or a personal tragedy. They said it didn't make any difference they were in the business to make money and for every empty site they were losing money! I don't think an rv park owner should put it all on the backs of the rv'ers whether they make money or now. 99% of rv'ers are honest and keep their commitment to a resv. Just thought other rv'ers should know about this obsured policy. Doubt if we will stay here again. - werunamuck
Mar 2016 - $37.00
Nice small campground very near I-40 about a mile. Watch for the sign on the left side of road for right turn on a narrow street, looks like your turning in to the Car dealership . Lovely young couple doing a great job with customer service. Pull through sites, good WiFi & Cable. Fenced doggie park, small hike path. Fishing pond. Very dusty but gravel was being delivered while we there. Windy Oklahoma. Tornado Alley storms one night very scary since I forgot to ask if there was a shelter. Will definitely return. - CookieRV
Feb 2016 - $40.00
Nice park, clean, neat, helpful staff. Nice trees, has a small fishing pond. Quiet, especially considering that it is relatively close to the Interstate. Fenced dog park. Level site; sites are somewhat close together, but certainly okay. - Sadiesmom
