My GPS did not know about this campground and I didn't have the address handy. Arrived on Wednesday, July 5 in the afternoon. I was concerned about getting a pull through but found myself as only one of four campers. Gravel sites all appear to be well-maintained and fairly level. My site number 70 was plenty long enough at 50 amp power and tremendous water pressure. This is a phenomenal deal for the money. We camped at Sayre City Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Enter their RV campground by the second entrance after the green hut. And it is marked but it comes after the exit which is not marked.

Second stay at this park and it is fantastic. It is first come, first served pay on your own. The sites are gravel and are huge. No sewer connection but 50 amp service and water. Not far from the interstate and a fantastic value at $12. Highly recommend. We camped at Sayre City Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

A mile past Flying J. What a bargain. Very quiet. Watch the Canada geese and golfers crossing course. Put cash in envelop at entry. Full sport activities in this local park. We camped at Sayre City Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Overnight stop. Close to highway and easy to find. Good place to walk dogs. Quiet. Water and electric. Dump station was difficult for us to find (west side of park) as it was located in an area that appeared to be outside the park. We walked awhile to find it as was not well marked. Also, rig has to be on the wrong side of the road if your dump is on the driver's side. Sites were roomy. No campfires permitted. Superior value for the money! No one will come and collect your fee. You must deposit it. We camped at Sayre City Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very well kept city campground in a large park with several huge graveled pull through sites and lots more grassed sites. There is no sewer at site which is the only negative. The dump station is on the access road which is quiet enough during the week to not pose a problem but may cause some problems if the park is full of people on the weekends. Our 50A pull through site had good power and water pressure. It might be interesting accessing some of the sites if the park was full but we were the only rig there when we parked for the one night. If we didn't have to be elsewhere we would have stayed longer. We camped at Sayre City Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed 1 night to visit an attraction in the area as there isn't much to choose from in the area. The park is just South of Sayre off US-283. It is a short drive from I-40 (Exit 20) so a lot of travelers use it. There are several ways to get into the park but only one way to get into the sites. Some of the transitions from the main roads around the park to the park's road pose a challenge. The fee is cash only at the self pay station. Don't expect someone to come by to collect as the sign said. While the park was built on a gently sloping field, the site parking pads were generally not level so some leveling was required. The interior roads were a mixture of pavement & gravel and sites are gravel. The roads were wide enough as most were for one way traffic. The turns were not the most inviting but were negotiated by larger RV's. The RV sites are all pull throughs. The P/T sites appeared long enough to stay connected to toads. They do not have full hook ups - only water & electricity (50 AMP). The connections were generally at the middle of the site. The sewer connection was at the ground so it was easy to establish a downhill flow. Sites had sufficient room for opening slides. Distance and grassy areas establish privacy between the sites. There was an outside table but no fire pit as campfires are "strictly prohibited". Ended up taking a shower in the restroom building. Was not a pleasant experience. Not much privacy as there was not a door on the shower stall. There were a few trees creating some obstructions to the sky so satellite reception was based upon site selection. As the park didn't offer any other service connections, our Verizon WiFi hotspot worked well. Didn't try the NET10 phone so don't know about cell phone reception. There was no designated fenced pet area but there sufficient distance along the park's roads to exercise a dog. However, there were stickers everywhere, including in the gravel of the road. We camped at Sayre City Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

For being in a hazardous/severe weather area, didn't see an underground storm shelter or any structure identified as a severe weather shelter. Really wouldn't recommend staying here but there isn't much to choose from in the area. Might be an option for an overnight stay. Wouldn't want to stay there longer than a night. We stayed on a Tuesday night. The park filled up by dark. It was about a 35 minute (around 26 miles) drive one way to Washita Battlefield National Historic Site.

There are lots of sites in this campground. Some are on grass, others are on gravel. The newer sites with 50 amp service are on gravel and they are pull-throughs. Some of the sites on grass also have 50 amp service. You need to check the individual sites to see what type of service each has.

Warning, some of the electrical hook ups on the grass sites are not in good shape with exposed wires, etc. Also, not all sites have picnic tables. We camped at Sayre City Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The park was beautiful and quiet. Nice grass sites with a picnic table but no fire rings. Hardly any other campers while we were there but it filled up for using the large, clean pool on Saturday afternoon. The changing area in the "pool house" were dark and dingy. The bathrooms were dirty and in need of a new coat of paint, they were kind of creepy. Some of the playground equipment has seen better days. Despite that, it was worth the $12 for a peaceful and convenient place to stay for a weekend. We camped at Sayre City Park Campground in a Motorhome.

On the advice of friends, we stopped for an overnight. It had just rained and there was standing water on the gravel roads. The sites are long gravel pull throughs. Water pressure was good, but running AC and water heater kicked the 30 amp breaker. The restrooms were dirty, including the floors. One toilet in the Men's room was broken and filthy. We did not use the restrooms after inspecting. There was only one other RV in the entire park, so it was very quiet. There are large grass areas for dog walking or strolling. We camped at Sayre City Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here two nights. 30 amp and 50 amp hookups with water. Dump station available too. Pool was open and a 2.00 charge. Camping spot was big. When you enter rv section, just stop and walk around to find a 50 amp site. Close to route 40 on and off ramps. Very quiet . We camped at Sayre City Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Great overnight stop on I-40 between Ft. Smith and Amarillo. We pulled inyo the campground in late afternoon and there were only four other RVs there when we arrived. Several more came while we were having dinner, including a motorhome hauling a Model T in an enclosed trailer. After parking, he unloaded the Ford and he and his wife drove into town for dinner!

Our space had a big cottonwood tree on the west side that separated us from a >40-ft. 5th wheel. But neither of us bothered to unhook, so the spaces were at least 60 feet long. The only problem we had was with the RV dump--the on-road location could block a traffic lane if the road were busy. We would stay definitely here again and have already recommended this campground to relatives in Amarillo. We camped at Sayre City Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Very convenient to I-40, but the traffic noise was very subdued. This is a BIG city park, with a golf course, ball fields, and many other amenities, so the campground is just a small piece of it.

The campsites are good, the price is unbeatable, lots of water and the power was OK, the dump site was on the main road I didn't care for that but there is a nice golf course and lots of things for kids. All in all its not bad, bathrooms are really bad though! We camped at Sayre City Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Our pull through site was huge and very level. The water and electric hookups were perfect. A dump station is adequate and is very usable with no problems at all. The whole park which is large has an incredible amount of activities for all ages. We were parked adjacent to the beautiful golf course. This is probably the finest city campground we have ever stayed at and is a credit to the citizens of Sayre, OK. We would definitely return here again. If you're looking to get away from the interstate noise, and pull in to peaceful park with long, level, pull-thru sites, 50 amp, heated water hydrant -- this is the place. It had snowed recently, so we stayed pretty much close to our RV, but this would be great if you had kids during nice weather! Playgrounds, mini golf, pool -- wouldn't be surprised if you could ice-skate on their small pond when it froze over. Great value, self-pay. Had rest rooms, but not sure they were open due to the bitter cold. We were in a 40' motorhome with tow car. When you enter park, just follow the "camper" signs and they'll take you right to the camp sites. We camped at Sayre City Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Wow what a great little park. This park has bathrooms and showers but we did not use them. In the park there is a golf course, play ground, swimming pool, walking trails, 2 baseball fields and a horse arena. We only stopped for an over night but did walk over to watch the local kids doing barrel racing. Wow what a treat. The cost is only $12.00 a night. There is no sewer but there is a dump station near by. I am so glad we took a chance and decided to stop and stay the night. We camped at Sayre City Park Campground in a Motorhome.
