Overall Rating:

Excellent location, just 2 easy blocks walk to "downtown" with the canal lock and the front fairgrounds parking lot is also the site for the weekly Saturday morning farmers market. The entire fairgrounds property is mostly full of seasonal campers with generally well kept sites that have to move offsite during the late September fair and for the winter (so everybody has to be mobile). There are ~6 grassy transient sites with electric and water, whatever unoccupied seasonal sites, and a large grassy back lot available except during few events during the summer-- call the host at the number listed to confirm availability. The campground has a (free?) honey wagon service weekly, a dump station adjacent to the shower house and a boat ramp into the Little Bob Channel that has direct access to the Trent Severn waterway under the fixed highway 24 bridge (~8' clearance?). The free WiFi signal radiates from the entrance to the large arena building facing the front parking lot so didn't reach our campsite. We had 2 bar cell signal with our ATT phone (Rogers) and 3 off air TV channels. Important note: approaching from the north via Main St. is not recommended-- the one way Main Street swing bridge over the canal requires a sharp 90 degree turn onto the narrow bridge. Approach the campground from highway 36 via King St. We camped at Bobcaygeon Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Canal lock #32 and mooring walls are right in "downtown" Bobcaygeon and are only 50' from a working swing bridge that carries Main street across the canal. The Kawartha Dairy headquarters is 400 yds walk N and has a retail ice cream outlet at the small factory. The Settlers Village about a mile N of town has late 1800's buildings recovered from the local area.
