Beautiful campground, once we found it that is! (Campground website says it's in Cambridge but you will need to program your GPS for the City of Flamborough or Hamilton, as if you indicate Cambridge, it will lead you nowhere and wondering where to go next. From exit 268 on the 401, it's about a 25-min drive to the campground entrance). The campground has sites of all sizes from x-large to medium, either pull-thru or back-in, all with 2 picnic tables each and a fire ring, most with lots of privacy with trees/shrubs in between sites. There is a gated entrance; they give you a swipe card to enter which was no extra cost. We camped the week before school was out for the summer and there were plenty of empty sites. We walked the Boardwalk Trail around the lake and climbed the Lookout Tower. There is no internet available anywhere in the campground so please be aware. We had a few tv channels. As for their alcohol ban, we brought some along but drank it discretely (we enjoy some wine with our dinner). Park staff (young students) would drive around the campground a few times a day and waive hello; not sure how much the alcohol rule is enforced but we didn't see anybody interrogating others about it. Didn't appear lots for children to do, though some were fishing. Anyway, we enjoyed this natural & peaceful campground and would return again. We camped at Valens Lake Conservation Area in a Travel Trailer.

This conservation area is generally very heavily shaded and treed with fairly tight access roads. It is also quite heavily used. We found the access for our 36 foot fifth wheel to be extremely tight, despite the fact that they advertised access for vehicles of our size. The campsite signage is poor, making access even more difficult. In addition, the large dense trees meant that we had no satellite connection. On top of that, the place does not have a laundry and is very heavily used. We would not stay here again, particularly considering the rather expensive price. We camped at Valens Lake Conservation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Wonderful place. Shaded, treed sites. Most were good size. Our area had a huge lawn off the restroom so kids could play games, frisbee, etc. Many of the sites in our area had huge boulders on them- just a quirk of note. Many people had dogs- very dog friendly. Great trails and lookout towers. Nice playgrounds and swimming beach. Tons of picnic areas. Our dog loved the special dog beach. It is a long walk from the campsites to the beaches though. Laundry was conveniently located in same bldg. as the restrooms and there was a sink where I could wash dishes. We camped at Valens Lake Conservation Area in a Tent.
