Camp sites are located among tall pine trees so there is a lot of shade at all times of the day. It felt like were camping in a big forest. It was a bit tight getting into the site with our 36 foot motorhome but really no problem. There were nice trees between our site and our neighbors. The washroom facilities were older but clean. It took quite a long time to get hot water in the showers. The WIFI at our site was excellent. We appreciated the quiet, natural environment. We camped at Algonquin Trails Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Called ahead and said I had a big rig and was told it would not be a problem. I was given a pull through site. It was a tight squeeze getting in and there was no way I would be able to pull out forward when I left. The owner needs to do some major tree trimming through out the park to make it big rig friendly.

This campground is in need of some sprucing up as far as the facilities go. The location is great and if you have a smaller rig it will do fine. Definitely not big rig friendly as it is now. We camped at Algonquin Trails Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Although this park is not in immaculate condition, it is a natural hidden gem. We prefer wilderness camping over RV parking lot type parks, and absolutely loved this park. With mature trees and spacious sites you get a real feel of wilderness camping like at Algonquin park, yet you have 30amp, a pool (mind you it's pretty cool but covered in a greenhouse so air is very hot), and free wifi that worked! There is a small playground. Our kids had freedom to play and be kids here. If you are looking for a Disney quality resort this place will not be for you, but if you want a peaceful camping experience for families in a natural environment than this park is awesome! We will be back! We were in site C7 which is a large pull thru and had no issues getting in or out with our 40' rig. We camped at Algonquin Trails Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

So many activities near by. Lakes to swim, Algonquin park to hike or paddle plus many lakes near by. Many local stores and town of Huntsville just 15-20 minutes away.

Campsites are in a natural wooded setting; most seemed spacious with trees in between for privacy. As nice as this is, I found the owner to be unfriendly with poor people skills. Perhaps this is why the campground was less than a quarter-full in the prime of summer, yet nearby Prov parks were at full capacity. If you want a campfire, you must pay $10/bundle of wood, as no outside wood of any kind is allowed. There is a fee to use the dump station if only staying a few nights. Could be a great place with some improvements to the facilities which are showing their age, and with a happier disposition from the owner. We camped at Algonquin Trails Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Sites are large, shady, and reasonably level. There weren't too many folks here and the owner made an effort to put space between the campers. There were several families here, and the kids were having a ball riding bikes and playing putt-putt. There is a pool though we didn't use it so I can't comment on it. The Internet was surprisingly good - and no extra charge. There is, however, a $9 reservation fee, and they charge to use the dump station if you stay less than 3 nights. The gate is locked from 11pm to 8am. The owner is working really hard to make a go of this. There are still some shabby buildings and maintenance issues, but we would stay here again. We camped at Algonquin Trails Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We had originally tried to book Algonquin Park however they did not have sites available for our needs. When we found Algonquin Trails we figured that this would be a nice alternative. Suprisingly, despite high ratings, the park had few sites booked. When we contacted the park we specified the size of our unit and that we were looking for a pull-through with some privacy. We were told we were booking a "large" pull-through site. We were able to view the site online, however the picture makes the site look larger than actuality. When we put out the slide-out we were very close to small trees. Not too big an issue. However, we needed to find something to hold up some very big branches on the other side of the trailer in order to use our awning. The site is very sandy, but hey, this is camping! Our fire pit was not cleaned out and was extremely full of coals. We eventually scooped it all out and spread the coals over the ground, under some trees. The site states that they have an indoor pool. It is under a roof with plastic siding around it, however there are several large holes in the siding, meaning you will be bathing with mozzies. And there are a LOT of mosquitos here. The owners live on site and we met only the husband who was quite friendly. The kids playground is very old and run down, and there was a charge for the little mini-putt area, so we did not use it. The trails at the back of the park are very grown over and we turned back after a short distance. We did not have a bad stay, however we will not book here again. We camped at Algonquin Trails Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

The owner has set the washers on small loads with cold water, but he doesn't tell you that, so you set the washers on large load and you put your clothes in with laundry detergent and it only fills up half way, at $2.75 a load it's a rip off! The owner doesn't want water spilling on the floor, he might have to mop it up. The showers are old but clean and you have to let the water run for 5 minutes for it to get hot. The campsites are long and woodsy. The town and park areas are very beautiful. We camped at Algonquin Trails Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Back again - last here in June 2010 and improvements continue to be made. The site is immaculate and extremely well maintained. Such a change from when we were first here years ago. Kudos to the new owners - much hard work and it shows. We camped at Algonquin Trails Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

The owners of this park make it a point at check-in to inform campers that there are rules which they are expected to obey and that these regulations are enforced. Campsites are situated well back from Highway 60 and are shaded by tall pines, resulting in a quiet and cool environment. The park offers many amenities including a driving range and a pool that provides separate restricted hours for adults. The Wi-Fi service is excellent and while cable TV service is not offered, the primary Canadian networks are available over the air. Note that the rate given is in U.S. dollars and includes taxes and credit card fees. We camped at Algonquin Trails Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Well maintained campground in a beautiful setting just a short drive from Algonquin Park. The sites are large in mature pines. Easy pull-through site for a 36' 5er. We stayed for 5 nights through the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend in October 2010. Strict rules are enforced, but none of them are unreasonable. To us, that's a benefit, not a detraction. They celebrated an early Halloween for the kids with pumpkin carving contests, coin searches in the hay tent and trick-or-treat after dark. We arrived during daylight, but we heard from others it was difficult to spot the CG entrance in the dark. There's no propane refill at the CG, but there is a refill facility within 1/2 a km across the highway. We would definitely stay here again. We first stayed here four years ago when the then new owners were in the process of making this wonderful campsite into less of a party palace and more into a restful and respectable operation. At the time, we realized that would be a challenge. We returned in a Motorhome for three days on our way to Cambridge and for another two days on our way back to the Ottawa area in June 2010. Our pull-through site was some 45 feet wide and 100 feet long, shaded and surrounded by a mature Red Pine forest. It was quiet, private and one of the nicest sites we have been in - and that includes many on our 2009 trip to Yellowstone. Friendly and helpful owners and no three-ring circus for those who need that kind of distraction. The lack of on-site septic was not an issue with us. This is a hidden gem, only 10 miles from the Algonquin Park western gate and with Huntsville shopping a half hour away. Will we return? You bet! The owner of this place makes your stay horrible. I've never witnessed anything like it. You go camping to relax, not to follow a long list of rules. Sitting by the fire by myself about 1am and made to put fire out. I recommend you do not go here, lots of other good campgrounds 10 minutes down the road! The campground itself is nice. There was a time where there was a hey ride at night that the kids and their parents' would line up for, now you need to sign an insurance form and it only happens on special occasions. Our family always looked forward to this holiday, this year we were very disappointed. New owners have taken over and there is no room for fun, too many rules. There seems to be no "customer comes first" policy there anymore. They don't provide the campers with sewers so if you plan on staying a length of time to lots of extra money. We have 2 small children that use our camper facilities and of course we use them at night but it costs us $5.00 to get pumped out every third day or so. That adds up after 2 weeks of so. We have made a lot of friends there over the last 6 years or so and we know where to find them next year and it won't be there. All the best to the new owners, hopefully they will try camping someday themselves to see the fun in it. We camped at Algonquin Trails Camping Resort in a Tent Trailer.
