The site was level. The campground is woodsy. Could not get any television channels. No wifi. It was late so we did not ask for help with these. We camped at Happy Land Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Happy Land was an amusement park in the 60's, thus the name of the campground. Most of the signs throughout the park look like they might be from the 60's, too. It's not a modern campground at all, but the sites are kept up well and the owners are very helpful and friendly. This is the first park I've been to that has a full-time residential section and there are "do not enter" signs at the end of the roads in that section. The RV park is shady in spots, and a few spots are completely in the shade (back-in), there's enough space between sites, and the campground has a pool, playground, restrooms and showers, a laundromat, and a gift shop. I would stay here again. We camped at Happy Land Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to go see the Kakabeka Falls a mile down the road. The village of Kakabeka Falls has a grocery store, 2-3 restaurants (I was told the restaurant at the hotel is very good) and 2 drive-up old-style burger and shake places. It's about 25 km into Thunder Bay, so bring what you need to the campground.

This RV park is behind a mobile home park, but this doesn't detract from it. There are 100 sites with everything from no service sites to full hookups. It accommodates everything up to big rigs. Most sites have some trees and privacy. There is plenty of parking when registering at the office (which also serves as a gift shop). The main road to the campground has a couple of speed bumps. Most of sites are pull-throughs with a few back-ins near the office. Our site was more than long enough for our rig, but due to untrimmed berry bushes it was impossible to put out our awning and got in the way of opening up one of my storage doors. I noticed that the park has some very long and large sites, but some of them were hampered by untrimmed tree branches which would scrape the roof tops of some rigs. Our hookups were in the middle of the site which was convenient for us. All utilities worked fine. I wasn't able to get any OTA TV, but the office staff insisted some campers have been able to get a couple of channels at times. I noticed a few sites were able to get satellite TV, but with all the trees it probably won't work at most. The Wi-Fi worked most of the time with only the odd bump. It was good enough for e-mail and browsing. There is a washroom in the middle of the park and showers and laundry in the back. The laundry has 2 washers and 2 dryers. They looked old, but clean. It cost $3.25 for each. The dryers give about 45 minutes of time. Even with the overgrown bushes surrounding us, we would still stay here again. We camped at Happy Land Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed here for two nights to rest up. The front half are park models whose residents are friendly. The rear is for the RVers and is well treed. The washrooms are separate from the showers but are both immaculate. The pool and hot tub are clean and look inviting. We were here in mid June so the park was very quiet and mostly empty. The owner is friendly but all business. Wifi seems to works well. You can hear a freight train in the middle of the night. The sound carries. We camped at Happy Land Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Nice place to stay for a night or a week. Large grassy area available to run the dog. She loved it. Easy to get around in it. There are great paths for hiking or biking through the adjacent woods. That was worth it, but it is very close to Kakabeka Falls. That's the real gem. We camped at Happy Land Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a tired, needs loving care, typical old Canadian RV park. The store and entrance of the park are fine, staff friendly but as you enter the RV site area you notice that a lot of the shrubs, bushes and trees need to be either removed or trimmed back. Has a good location right on HWY 11-17. A little TLC would greatly improve this park. We camped at Happy Land Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice park but not worth the $45 price. Clean facilities, good roads, easy access for a 36' motorhome. Good wifi and pick your site carefully for satellite. The staff is courtesy but not very warm and welcoming. We camped at Happy Land Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed here for 4 nights. Very clean restrooms and showers. It seems most people who come here use it as an overnight stop. Not a bad place, but the sites are small so not really much space for having people sit around the fire ring (which you have to obtain from an out building). Quiet place to stay, no complaints at all. We camped at Happy Land Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Happy Land Park, owner at Happy Land Campground responded to this review

Thank you for making us aware of the water temperature issue. We weren't very busy at that time, being early in the season, so we only had one water heater on line. We have since put another water heater on line to keep up with the demand.

We just stayed here overnight. We were surprised there were NO mosquitoes as we sat out until it was dark. Wifi worked fairly well outside. We did not use the facilities, but checked them out and they appeared to be clean and adequate. Nice separation of sites with trees and bushes. We camped at Happy Land Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice campground, very clean. Wonderful heated pool and spa. The spaces are a little cramped for 40-foot with tow. You pay extra for 50-amp. Small free book library. The store is not useful.

In retrospect, we should have stayed at Fort William Historical Park RV Park. It was closer to what we wanted. We camped at Happy Land Campground in a Motorhome.

This RV sites in this park sit back off the highway so it is very quiet. They are pull-though, mostly grass, level, and there is a buffer of trees between most spaces. Sites are big rig friendly, especially 40' and shorter; 45' should take off their tow vehicle before trying to park. Rate is with Good Sam discount and $5 additional per night for 50 amp. Remember, rates will vary due to exchange rate. There is a book exchange in the office/store area. We camped at Happy Land Campground in a Motorhome.

Don't miss Kakabeka Falls and Kakabeka Falls Village about .5mi/.8km from the park. It cost us $3CN for an hour visit at the falls. It is about 16mi/25km from the park into Thunder Bay.

Rate shown is with Good Sam discount. Our site was a level grass/dirt pull-through that included a table. Good privacy from other sites, but not suitable for satellite reception due to trees. There are more open sites available. All hookups worked fine. No cable TV, but found 1 channel off the antenna. Wi-Fi was strong and internet access was fast. Laundry had 2 washers and 2 dryers. Each was $2.50 a load. Wife said they were clean and above average. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Happy Land Campground in a Motorhome.
