Enormous sites, mostly level. Very pleasant hiking trails around the falls, very clean comfort station. Very convenient, just off route 17. Only beef is with the online reservation system that charges $10 for the privilege of booking online. We camped at Chutes Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.

This park is beautiful. Trees everywhere, shady sites, easy roads to navigate, plenty of space between campers, and helpful staff. I didn't need to use the public washroom, but I did see people waiting outside most every time I walked by with my dog. In addition, they were cleaning the facilities right during the morning rush at 8 or 9. Most places wait until mid-day when less people need the restrooms and showers. Other than that, this park was gorgeous. Make sure to go see the waterfalls and lake. Spectacular surprise for me, anyway. We camped at Chutes Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

BE SURE to fill up your fresh water tank before you get to the park or at one of the spigots in the park. There are no water hook-ups at the sites; only electricity. BTW, the electric hook-ups were nicely updated compared to most parks I've been to, so far.

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We visited this provincial park in late September, so it was closing down for the year. There was a self-pay kiosk and a site with electricity was $42.00 Canadian. The weather was still great so the park was busy despite the lack of staff. There were 4 camping loops, 2 with electricity and 2 without. There is water available in the park but no water or sewer hook-ups. Most sites are back-in. The camping sites are nothing special, dirt with 30 amp power. But the walking in the park is exceptional since the park includes a very large area of waterfalls and waterfront where you can walk/hike/fish/explore. Our dogs loved it. And we enjoyed the beautiful property and peaceful area. We camped at Chutes Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Rate is in Canadian Dollars. We were in Area A. Very Large Sites, We have 40' 5th Wheel and had more than enough room. The only downside was that it was easier to back into the site by going around the loop in the wrong direction, but no problems. The even numbered sites are easily accessed going in the right direction.

There is no water to the site but potable water available at spigots throughout the park. Roads are narrow with the odd overhanging tree, no issues but be aware. We camped at Chutes Provincial Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The name "Chutes" comes from an area in the park that was used for transporting logs down river to the mill. Nice natural swimming area with very pretty falls. 5 km hiking/walking trail within park. Park is about 1.5 km off Hwy 17. Easy access to park.

Arrived here without reservations and was pleasantly surprised to find many available spaces. Staff were very pleasant to deal with. Roads in the campground are a little tight for motorhome with dinghy and we were advised to unhook before going to our site. Sites are huge with plenty of space between them. Only negative was the electrical hookup was out of reach of our power cord which required the use of an extension, the proper 30 Amp one which we didn't have, leaving us to use regular extension with an adapter. This is a wonderful place, the natural surroundings are spectacular, including swimming hole, hiking trails and wildlife. Bear alert in effect at time but didn't see any. We camped at Chutes Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

A provincial park that due to location seems more like a local park. Located off a backstreet in the town of Massey. It is a hidden gem. Sites are level and large with electric only. It has a great swimming hole which is very welcoming on a hot summer day but be sure to bring water shoes. Also, very nice park to ride a bike around. Close to town and restaurants. There is no grocery in town. We camped at Chutes Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for one night as a stopover. The park is absolutely gorgeous, with lots of trees and a beautiful waterfall and many other opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Unfortunately for us, it rained, so we were unable to do more than take a quick walk to see the falls. Be warned. With rain came mosquitos, many of them. But that's to be expected where there are tons of trees and it's just been raining. That can't be helped. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and they have someone patrolling at night. Hope we can visit again when we can beat the rain! We camped at Chutes Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Don't come here without taking the short walk to see the falls. You can hear them behind the trees as you get closer to them. And again, come mosquito prepared!!

This is a beautiful park. We only stayed 2 nights - one going to Alberta and one returning. The hike along the falls is beautiful and easy walking. The washrooms were SUPER CLEAN. Sites were spacious for our 19 ft hard side fold-down trailer. Would recommend this park to anyone. Very peaceful and pleasant. We camped at Chutes Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful little campsite with daily/nightly patrols for our own safety. Close to town in case you need anything from the hardware store or groceries. Wood is expensive though - 6$ for a bag that barely covers one night's fire. Showers and bathrooms were SUPER clean! Dog park with enclosed fence to make sure your pup can get a good run. The chutes and river are beautiful and sandy for easy swim! We camped at Chutes Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This pleasant park provides a convenient stopping point between Sudbury and Sault Sainte Marie, but is certainly no bargain. The sites are well-spaced but suffer the vagaries of power outlet placement that is typical of Ontario Provincial Parks. The power post for your site may be 6 feet away or it could be 50 feet (or more) off in the woods. The location of water spigots is even worse, with a single faucet serving multiple sites. The park reservation system can only be described as a joke. Prior to my visit on a Monday night, the on-line system indicated that there was only one site available. When I arrived, I was informed by the staff member on duty that “about 100” of the 132 sites were available. Considering the rates charged, I made the decision to avoid Provincial Park campgrounds for the remainder of my summer stay in the province. Note that the rate given is in U.S. dollars and includes taxes, on-line registration and credit card fees. We camped at Chutes Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Good stopover park between Sudbury and Sault Ste Marie. Half-mile off the highway on west edge of Massey. Large, shaded, quite level, well separated sites. Freshwater available at dump station from hose. Quiet park with nice short trails to view several water falls on small river running through the park. Some sites are a little tight for full-size class A rigs but manageable. We camped at Chutes Provincial Park in a Motorhome.
