Note that this is now part of the Carefree RV Park network and the name is now Carefree Trailside Park.

Nice park on two lakes! Very quiet. There are several beaches including one for dogs. There are only 4 or 5 sites for overnight stays, but they are large pull throughs with hydro (power), water, sewer. The roads are rough but passable. We camped at Trailside Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Directions: There are signs for the camp on Oastler Park Drive to turn onto James Bay Junction Road from either direction. But there is no sign to turn onto Blue Lake Road from James Bay Junction Road. You have to look for the street sign.

We booked this park after finding it on the Internet to attend events in Parry Sound. The park is a short 10 minute drive from all the shopping you will need. Trailside Park is spread out and is on three seperate small lakes and primarily caters to 'Seasonals' but had room for our 36' 5th wheel and Volvo tow vehicle. Roads are all gravel, sites are generally gravel/dirt and not all are perfectly level and lots of unserviced tent sites as well. We had FHU including 30amp power in our site and most of the overnighter sites did. Generally pretty quiet but the weekends had lots of traffic coming and going. The grounds and buildings all could use some TLC but the new managers and workers for Carefree Resorts are working constantly to look after and improve the facilities. Cell coverage on Telus worked but WiFi was non existent for my laptop. We camped at Trailside Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Wood was expensive I thought but with the ban on transporting firewood the Trailside wood available . Shouldn't gripe, at least we could have a fire on a few evenings!

This park is too far from the highway and the Parry Sound area. It is located on 30 acres around a large lake. Most tenants are year long or weekend inhabitants. It is a lot like a provincial site. The sites are not very level, and there is an entrance gate which is an inconvenience. It was not well kept, and the washrooms were a fair distance from the sites. I would not stay here again. We camped at Trailside Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Camp covers a large area with confusing gravel and dirt roads. Lots of trees with sites tucked in where ever they would fit. Lots of trash laying around, with many old seasonal rigs with add on's and even tarp roofs. Three lakes and two beaches as well as a gravel pit for off road vehicles. One of few camps I have seen that have actual outhouses scattered around the area. Unless you are into rustic I would look elsewhere. We camped at Trailside Park in a Motorhome.

All sites are very shaded. Only four are pull-thru and most of the others are seasonal. The water was very sulfur-tasting, though our filter cleaned it up completely. The campground owners were very nice to us, accepting courier delivery of a warranty part while we were away. We would probably not stay here again. We camped at Trailside Park in a Fifth Wheel.
