This is our 3rd stay here. We really enjoy the park. I'm not sure why it doesn't have better reviews from other people. The staff we dealt with were all friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Check in was fast. Sites are quite large. The bathhouse was very clean. There isn't wifi but apparently they're working on getting it. They don't have cable TV but we picked up 3 or 4 channels with our aerial. The wifi and TV is not a big deal for us as we go to relax and get away from being "plugged in" all the time. The park is super quiet at night. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Lafontaine RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

10 minute drive into the town of Penetanguishene for groceries, restaurants, liquor etc. 3 golf courses nearby. There's a drive-in theatre in Midland. Boat cruises from the Penetang and Midland waterfronts. Discovery Harbour, King's Wharf Theatre, Martyrs Shrine, Wye Marsh, Fort St Marie.......just to name a few things. Lots to do in the area.

Management was very rude and confrontational. I would never go back to this park. During our stay we also witnessed management arguing with another camper to the point of the management getting right in the other campers face. Replace management and this would be a fantastic place. We camped at Lafontaine RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very friendly staff in the office. No WIFI access but they are working at getting it. This used to be a Carefree Resort park but recently came under the ownership of Sun Communities. No cable but we were able to pick up 6-7 channels fairly well using our aerial. We camped at Lafontaine RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

The park is beautiful, lots of trees, large area. There was lots for the kids to do. There was badminton nets, tether ball, basketball net, parks, wagon ride, pool, and trails for walking and biking.

The bathrooms/showers were gross, small, in need of upgrading. The pool had swim times for only adults for an hour, and other for seniors for an hour, and not kids allowed. There was more golf cart traffic than a golf course and most were doing over the 10 km limit. When we travelled through the park, doing 8 km an hour, with kids sitting on the back tail gate, we had several seasonal tenants yelling to slow down. This happened several times, and we purposely went below the speed limit and still got yelled at for going too fast.

After dinner while sitting by the fire and listening to music from inside out tent trailer, we were thanked for turning our music down. We had it on the same volume for a few hours and had not touched the volume(which was not loud). Not sure if it was another camper or not.

There were a few rude seasonals asking the kids to leave the pool and telling them not to jump in (one was just walking along the pool). One family just left. My husband just asked our kids to come back to the trailer, to avoid any confrontations.

We felt like were inmates being checked on regularly. We were constantly woken up by golf carts driving by until the early morning. We went to bed around 11 or 11:30.

We camp all over Ontario and have never had this experience, and we've never had complaints about our behaviour, driving, or music before.

It is pretty clear that the seasonal campers run this campsite, and I would not recommend this place for families. We would not camp here again. There are many places around Ontario that welcome families. This is probably better suited for retired or older people. We camped at Lafontaine RV Park in a Tent Trailer.

We went to this park Labor Day weekend. There were plenty of activities for kids as well as adults. There was a kid’s blow up, bouncy castle; a live band; karaoke and a horseshoe tournament. We stayed on Site 5 that was close to the road. The pine trees pretty much drowned out the traffic noise. This was a back in site and it was huge. The pool area was well kept. The bathrooms were clean. All around this was a great campground and we will return for a second visit. We camped at Lafontaine RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Some 300 feet from the office there are four easy-access pull-through sites with 50 amp and full service for big rigs pulling a toad. We did not visit any other sites and only stayed one night. If you disregard the sourpus attitude of the female owner this is a good over-nighter for big rigs. Garbage disposal is terrible and that area is a pig-pen. We camped at Lafontaine RV Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: July, 2011 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We used the campground only for lodging (tenting) and didn't use any of the amenities. We didn't stray outside the tent section of the park. The campsites were well-kept and shaded. Unfortunately, there seems to be little staff at the park to deal with excessive drunkenness and noise issues, which were wildly abundant. This isn't a young family-friendly campground. Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. The bathrooms were filthy. We showered and got cleaned up at Awenda Provincial Park which had much better facilities (I can't believe I said that!). One shock we had upon arrival is there is no potable water to drink in the park: BRING YOUR OWN! We stayed in this park perhaps 8 years ago and it was in much better condition then. It is now under new ownership/management. We won't be returning here. We camped at Lafontaine RV Park in a Tent.

Got to do a 180 on the previous review. Our site was fine, big pull-through, a couple of pine trees, satellite reception was good, 3 way site, nice and level. Park is close to all the tourist attractions: Midland, Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, a few golf courses. Most of the permanent sites are very well kept, very quiet park. We were visiting our friend who stays here during the summer, but that is not influencing my review. If you go to Midland, stop at The Georgian Bakery on King St, the best jelly donuts ever. We camped at Lafontaine RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

I gave this park a rating of only 5 because of its very few transient sites. The park is almost entirely filled with seasonal campers. When we stayed there only appeared to be 2 available full service sites, and a half dozen water electric sites. The campground entrance area is also somewhat untidy. The campground is also fully wooded, so not much sun gets through, and getting a satellite signal is next to impossible. We camped at Lafontaine RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
