September 23,24, Sandbanks Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada - $56 electric, also unserviced sites, dump station, site 159 in the Outer River Campground Loop. This is a very popular campground located on Lake Ontario, East Lake and the Outlet River. Saturday was the hottest fall day that this area ever had. It was hot. The backup to get into the park would have taken us over an hour if we didn't take a bypass road in to get to the Park Office since we already had reservations. Needless to say the park was mobbed. There are six areas to camp in this park and the most popular campground is the Outlet River Campground A. We camped there and had a good size site with shade, site 159. The roads in the park were narrow and one way only. If we did not have a road across from us to pull in, I don't know if we could have backed up. Our site was huge and private. Water and bathhouse were an easy walking distance. The beach was a short 5 min walk and it was very nice. Sites 18, 20, 21, 23, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 33, 35 are the most popular in the park. One little dune to the beach, views of the beach. Large pull-throughs for most, nice and cool even in the hot weather and bathhouse with showers within walking distance. Those sites were on hard pack sand and unserviced. The Park is home for the Giant Canada Goose because they need when breeding 5 acres of water and access to field or open land for grazing. We enjoyed our stay here and so did our dog because he was allowed to go swimming in the Outlet River which flowed into Lake Ontario. This was a weekend stay for us and because of the warm weather reservations were needed. Good stop! We camped at Sandbanks Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Nicest beach, good store and snack bar. Not big rig friendly, sites and roads very small and narrow. But, a new 75 sites with electric being built for 2017. Full sun and big rig friendly: it will be great. Like most provincial parks, expensive for electric only site. But that's the reality. We camped at Sandbanks Provincial Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We visited Sandbanks during the quieter season and it was wonderfully peaceful at our Woodlands site. The sites are huge and fairly private. It is quite far to the northern beach areas so we found our bicycles essential, its about 4 kms to the north dog park. Very dog friendly park. There is a lot of poison ivy; however, this was the only drawback we found to Sandbanks. One of the best campgrounds we have stayed at. We camped at Sandbanks Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Beaches are fantastic! It's like a Caribbean beach in the heart of Canada. This is a massive campground, but there is plenty of tree cover to provide privacy. We dry-camped with friends who were tenting it, but there are sites available with electrical service. This is a VERY popular campground and you need to reserve months in advance to get a choice site. We camped at Sandbanks Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.

It was a decent site. The staff members were friendly for the most part during our stay. The location was well maintained and the folks that attended that weekend were great. It was great to get out of the city and enjoy some fresh air. We camped at Sandbanks Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

We frequent this park because of the vicinity and the beaches. The woodland sites are large and can accommodate our 34' trailer. Unfortunately the sites didn't have the grass cut and they were about 10" deep. However, the park is well patrolled and quiet at night. We camped at Sandbanks Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice in the electric loop, but it's a large park so you have to drive/bike everywhere. Clean and tidy. Washrooms were amazingly clean. Very popular park, so you have to reserve early. Didn't find the beaches that good. Kind of messy with algae and stuff like that. Nice towns close by and a lovely area overall. We camped at Sandbanks Provincial Park in a Tent Trailer.

Date of Stay: June, 2009 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This park has several different campgrounds, some with electrical sites, some without. The electrical sites are 2km (1.2 miles) away from the beach, so we stayed in a site with no hookup in order to be closer. Generally speaking, sites have lots of trees, which is nice, but makes backing a trailer in difficult. The electrical sites are more trailer-friendly. Some have trees surrounding them, and there are some that are more like a parking lot. The beach is great - one of the nicest in Ontario for sure. The washrooms are ok - they get cleaned several times a day, but with all the sand from the beach being dragged in with the high traffic, they don't stay clean for long. They are also crowded. Expect to wait at least 15 minutes before a shower is free most of the time. This is a very busy park - a reservation is recommended in the summer. We camped at Sandbanks Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.
