We really loved this campground. They don't take reservations but we had no problem getting a site in July, right after Canada Day. However, it was the middle of the week. I noticed many of the previous reviews mentioned the bathrooms being out of service due to renovations. Well, they are complete and the bathroom and shower facilities are very nice and clean. Once of the attractions of this park was the hiking trails. Some are a bit of a climb, but the views are spectacular. If you like to fish, I was able to pull in 2 northern pikes early in the morning right from the shore. Be aware that many parks in Canada don't allow live bait. We camped at Hattie Cove Campground (Parks Canada) in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We loved this beautiful park. Our site was level, with good privacy and separation from other sites. Most sites are spacious; a few are a little small. None of the sites can be reserved in advance. Fortunately, there were few campers at this time of year. The friendly kiosk guy told us that generally sites are available even in the height of summer. (This season was an exception because national park entry was free in honour of Canada's sesquicentennial.) Backing in was very easy and the electric post was within easy reach. One site housed volunteer camp hosts who were helpful. We got a brilliant low-season rate. Unfortunately, however, the toilet/shower/laundry blocks were closed for renovation. We took several of the interesting walks; they were not always well signposted and we had to search for the route in a few spots. We stayed two nights but wish we had had more time. We camped at Hattie Cove Campground (Parks Canada) in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great National Park. There is only one pull through site, which we were lucky to get, but even the back in sites are pretty good. The sites are widely spaced apart and it is heavily wooded.

The park has many hiking trails that are great for the average person. 2-4km and not difficult. The multiple views of Lake Superior from the multiple hiking trails were fantastic.

The park water and showers were shut down in October, but since we are self contained that wasn't an issue.

If you have the opportunity to camp here, do it. We camped at Hattie Cove Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Very nice National Park on Lake Superior. The campsites are spaced well and are mostly woodsy with good privacy. Wi-Fi is available at the visitor center. Really helpful ranger/warden with lots of good ideas, suggestions and answers. There are trails to walk and explore including a boardwalk on the way to the cove. Both of my GPS units failed to get me on the right road here so for routing purposes take hwy 627 south from Hwy 17 near Marathon and it will lead you to the park. No store, so bring provisions. I would return here. We camped at Hattie Cove Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is the campground at Hattie Cove. There are other camp sites for hikers scattered in the backwoods. Great hikes to the shore & into woods. Very quiet. Site very level on gravel pad. Electric nearby. Visitor center with rentals of canoes, etc. Great scenery along shore. Enjoyed some short hikes during short stay. Will go back to explore more. Friendly staff. We camped at Hattie Cove Campground (Parks Canada) in a Fifth Wheel.
