This is a very nice RV park with excellent management and amenities. Dead quiet at night. Sites varied but quite spacious. Everything worked well, even the WiFi, which was amazing considering the park was full. Our site was a bit muddy, poor grass quality knocked my rating down a notch. Roads are gravel, and therefore dusty. It would be nice if they paved the main road in, at least as far as the office. We camped at Sault Ste.Marie KOA in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice campground, and appears to be very family-friendly. It is quite busy now- expect that this is peak season. The price is consistent with KOAs (high) - but there are few options in this area for big rigs.

The proximity to the TransCanada highway is good, and the interior roads are tight, but manageable for a big rig.

Our site is long enough, level enough, and has 50 amp electric and full hookups. There is cable TV and wifi.
Our only problem here is that the campground is heavily treed, and the satellite does not work. The staff are quick to point out that they make no guarantees about satellite access.
I might have shortened my stay as a result, but unfortunately, when I reserved in advance I consented to pay the full amount for the entire stay. My fault, for not inquiring more closely as to the policy concerning reservations. We camped at Sault Ste.Marie KOA in a Motorhome.

I'm submitting a review even before I leave, this place is clean, well run and well maintained. The staff are knowledgeable and eager to help, this must be the reason why this place won park of the year for 2015. I would recommend this place to anyone they can accommodate larger rigs, they took us in on a very short notice. They will escort you to your site and asked if they could help us in any way. We camped at Sault Ste.Marie KOA in a Motorhome.

The park was beautiful due to the many trees in their full fall colors. The management was friendly and made sure that we had enough room to park our tow vehicle in a site next to our site. The restrooms were beautiful and clean. The campground included lots of amenities as well as really nice looking cabins and camping cabins. A fun place to spend a week in the summer with your children, lots to do for them. Sites were close but staggered to make it feel spacious. We were close to town and the Agawa train as well as lots of restaurants and grocery stores. We camped at Sault Ste.Marie KOA in a Motorhome.

Best KOA I ever stayed at. Wonderful facility. Friendly helpful staff. Bathrooms/showers cleaner than most people's homes. Shower heads are the large "rain shower" head (blissful). So many amenities-90% pull through sites, cable TV, wireless internet, trailer wash, dog walking service, doggie bath, K-9 corral dog play area, dog agility course, putt putt, pool, camp kitchen, movie nights, activity nights like ice cream social or hot dog roast, wood delivery, camp store, wooded sites plenty of trees. Close to town but yet out in the woods. Cabins available and also sites with patios, table and chairs and gas grill. We camped at Sault Ste.Marie KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The Agawa Canyon Train tour was well worth it. Hwy 17 leaving the city has great views of Lake Superior and several provential parks with beaches you can visit. The Bushpilot Heritage Museum was great with an excellent 3D film on the firefighting planes, a flight simulator, and many planes-some of which you could go into.

We have been regular visitors at the KOA since 2011. Our preference is the Deluxe patio sites. The staff is outstanding and extremely courteous! in our last visit, we had the opportunity to use their newly developed Deluxe Patio back-in site, it was perfect! Level area for our motor coach, paved patio area also had a complimentary gas grill and had nice shade throughout the day! Since we travel with two rough coat tri-color collies, the campground has a great K-9 play area, also a wonderful Outdoor Dog Agility Facility! We have been very pleased and impressed with improvements the owners have made with their KOA! Great folks! We camped at Sault Ste.Marie KOA in a Motorhome.

Excellent campground. Owners are very helpful and accommodating. Campground is very clean, so is the pool. Playground could use a little upgrading but still nice for kids. All connections to hook-ups were sturdy and well placed. We camped at Sault Ste.Marie KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We found this park very clean and well laid out. Lots of amenities for everyone. Our 40' fifth wheel fit no problem. Not sure about previous review comments, the restrooms were perfect. Brand new and heated on the cool night. Owners were on site and very accommodating too. We will return! Loved the dog friendly facilities. We camped at Sault Ste.Marie KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

A first rate RV Park! Big Rig friendly. The owner/opperator greeted us upon our arrival and escorted us to our site.

We were upgraded to a new premium site when the owner determined that the site we reserved would have been difficult for us to park our 40 ft fifth wheel and full size tow truck. The park is clean and well laid out, with the activity areas (pool, mini-golf, dog agility areas) to the front of the park. The site we were in was at the back of the park, near the attractive well maintained cabins. We enjoyed sitting out around our campfire and grilling on the full size gas grill which is provided as a part of the premium site. The owner continued his great customer service even after we had left the park. I left something behind when we left the campground. He worked with me to have it shipped to another campground we were schedule to get to a few weeks later. Rate shown on this review is an approximation based on a blended rate and approximate Dollar exchange rate. We camped at Sault Ste.Marie KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

One washroom, one dumpster area, too far to trek if in tent or pop up tent trailer. Showers and washrooms are always damp and clammy and cold even though newly renovated. Limited WiFi, owners seemed more interested in their show dogs than actually running an RV park. Lots of noise from highway and trains. We camped at Sault Ste.Marie KOA in a Tent Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The Sault is a must visit city. However, be warned that if travelling east from Thunder Bay, the trip will be long, grueling and at times dangerouse. Distance calculator claims 8 hours. Count on 12.

This KOA is immaculate and very well run. Some of the access roads are a little bit tight for our 36 foot fifth wheel. The campground is quite heavily wooded, so you might not be able to get a satellite connection. The laundry is very good, though a bit expensive. The owners were most cooperative while we had some truck repairs done. For a KOA, even the price is reasonable, though we selected a power and water site for a four night stay - full service is more expensive. We would probably stay here again. We camped at Sault Ste.Marie KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at this park for 3 days and enjoyed it very much. The first morning we woke up, most of the trailers/motorhomes that had been there the night before were gone! However around supper time new campers came flooding back in, and this was what we saw daily while we were there. It has more transient campers than we've seen elsewhere so far, but it is run so well, and so smoothly, that we were not the least bit put out staying there several days. We even contemplated extending our stay, but needed to travel back towards the south. The staff is VERY friendly, willing to help, and the owner (we only met the man) was a very nice guy. They have the ability to weigh your vehicle and trailer at at cost of $50, which we did, and discovered that we were about 800lbs over on the rear axle of the truck! Very valuable service. They have an RV wash, a shared kitchen, and an agility area for dogs, all of which we did not use, but were well kept. **NB: We were treated to the sight of a bear cub on a nearby site. They apparently live-trap and release bears that come into the campground. In this area you really need to be sure that all food is stored properly. It was an AMAZING sight to see. Also, the price quoted above is the cost with a KOA members card. We camped at Sault Ste.Marie KOA in a Travel Trailer.

The best KOA we have ever stayed in, and also the best campsite in Canada thus far. Not crowded when we were there. Lovely patio with paved stones, patio set, fire pit, and swing on the deluxe site. Extremely well maintained and supervised. Friendly management and staff. We camped at Sault Ste.Marie KOA in a Motorhome.
