We stayed one night but would definitely stay there again. The hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful. We camped at Sturgeon Falls KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very nice KOA, with facilities for adults, as well as children. It is a pretty setting on the river with a small dock and access. Sites are a little close together, unless you manage to get one of the end ones, like we did, but are level and grassy: a mix of back in and pull through. Washrooms are good but there are only 2 unisex ones (plus a couple in the office) so could be a queue at busy times!

There is a big grassy area over the little inlet that the campground is situated on which was great for exercising our dog! The owners are incredibly friendly and attentive and make you feel very welcome. We camped at Sturgeon Falls KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Overnight on the way to the East -- pulled in late in the evening and left early in the morning. The shower is in the clubhouse and is quite a walk from our site. The mosquito situation was really really bad, but obviously it is not related to the park. I heard they had a really wet spring. We camped at Sturgeon Falls KOA in a Travel Trailer.

The good: well staffed, friendly people, pleasant location, no road noise. Pretty spot on the river, very clean restrooms. Dog friendly, as long as you understood where the RV Park's lot line ended.

The bad: sites were pretty darned tight, you felt right next to your neighbor, perhaps 10' away from them at most. The park was pretty large, and there were only two unisex bathrooms available that were convenient to most of the sites. You don't want to be the guy, awaiting a stool and shower at 7AM if women are using the facilities. We camped at Sturgeon Falls KOA in a Motorhome.

Thanks for the review. Just to comment on a couple of things, you indicate the sites are tight however we built them 60' X 30' with some variations so there should be plenty of room. In regards to the unisex bathrooms, we have two more bathrooms and showers in the main building, just an FYI for the next time your here! :) Again thanks for coming and commenting.

This is a pretty KOA along the river with open grassy areas. The owners of the KOA have done a lovely job of improving the park and their effervescent and happy attitude was a bright spot in our day. We camped at Sturgeon Falls KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed 1 night on the trip east to Acadia. Like others say, they are 2 miles from the Trans-Canada Hwy and local road is quite bumpy, but the C/G makes up with it in peace and quiet. Not like others that are next to inter states or train tracks. They have a marina and water slide features all on one of Ontario's largest inland lakes. Owners came by at night to check in on each site. We camped at Sturgeon Falls KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Thanks for the great review. Just an FYI the worst part of the road has been fixed and they are working on re-surfacing the road within the next couple of years.

Price quoted is in Canadian Dollars. Nice park on the Sturgeon River with seasonal sites next to canal. Large open area behind the seasonal sites for short term stays. Each site is quite large with easy internal road access (road from highway to park is a little rough but no problem if you take it slow). The park was not busy the night we stayed and the "free" wi-fi was quite good (no need for the $2.50 "fast" wi-fi). This is a very quiet park. We would not pay extra for a pull-thru next time as the back-ins were large with easy access. We camped at Sturgeon Falls KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Thanks for the review. Just an FYI, the area with the seasonal sites actually have overnight sites in with them, on the river, shaded sites, etc.

Overall Rating:

This well-managed resort abutting the Sturgeon River has a lot of things to do, including swimming in the river, rental boats, onsite food service, playground, etc. The rate is in USD. The staff handled a 28-vehicle caravan with aplomb. Seasonals are separated from short-timers. A large variety of sites can handle anything imaginable. Wi-Fi faltered only once (free for email and low intensity use; $2.50 a day for very good high speed.) The fishing dock, however, was a small, shaky floating dock. A museum about the history, geology and game of the area is a 3 km bike ride. The last 3 km to the camp is over a rough paved road. It is okay to wash vehicles. The town of Sturgeon Falls lacks falls (sacrificed to build a hydroelectric station). Sturgeon in nearby Lake Nipissing have been hunted for caviar almost to extinction. We camped at Sturgeon Falls KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Fishing guides for Lake Nipissing are available with some advance planning. During the muskie open season guides may want to concentrate on this large sport fish but there are eating varieties available. The town features an excellent French bakery and Larry's and The RIV - dueling fish 'n chips joints across the street from each other. There is a mediocre Metro grocery store and a large Canadian Tire outlet with everything except groceries.

Park is 2.5 miles from Highway 17 down a very bumpy paved road. Once we arrived at park without reservations we were greeted by very friendly hosts. We were escorted to our site on a gravel road to our level, treeless, overnight site located behind the permanent river sites. Very strong 30 and 50 amp utilities and water. Would stay again if in the area. We camped at Sturgeon Falls KOA in a Motorhome.

$42 CAN after discount. While road from main highway to park has some rough areas (our spedd did not result in furniture moving) the quiteness of the campground more than compensates. Had a fairly level pull-thru with good services. Setting by the river and opportunity to swim in river and take boat excursion makes this a nice get away even though we only stayed one night. Staff were efficinet and friendly. Owner is very interested in you enjoying your stay. Will return again for a longer stay. We camped at Sturgeon Falls KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Really nice park on the water. Boat launch, swimming area and piers. Gravel sites with great services (even the Wi-Fi is strong) and grassy areas. Staff are welcoming and helpful. The park is near perfect but I may not return. The 3km access road from the highway is extremely rough and even going 10km/hr threw my furniture around. It will certainly give your rv suspension a workout. We camped at Sturgeon Falls KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Owner seemed put out that we would dare show up after 7 PM in the off season. Even though they claim to offer free wifi, we were asked for an additional $2.00 for the access code. Long trek to washroom/showers through swampy land. Very quiet though as it is 5 miles from highway. We camped at Sturgeon Falls KOA in a Tent Trailer.

One of the best RV parks we've stayed in and way ahead of most KOAs. The kids loved the slide at the lake for swimming, it was a great part of our holiday there. The owner was exceptionally helpful and friendly. The extra facilities offered are great and we appreciated them a lot e.g. lake visit, free campsite BBQ. Washrooms amongst the cleanest we've seen. Overall this stood out as one of the best campsites we've stayed in and the best in Northern Ontario. We camped at Sturgeon Falls KOA in a Motorhome.

Par for the course campground - good number of seasonal sites (they all have waterfront) owners expanding and adding sites - good length and width. Gravel sites with grass between. Quiet location - we had an issue finding them as street signage off highway was poor. They have kayaks for rent or bring your own boat. There is a playground for kids. Typical KOA overpricing for what you get. We camped at Sturgeon Falls KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
