Great Park, Great Staff. We make this park our weekend getaway spot, as it is only 45 min from home. Park is always maintained, bathrooms are always clean and well maintained, although the facilities in Middle Creek are long overdue for a change. Being so far from Toronto, Ontario Parks forgets we pay what they do up there, and has not provided this park the funds needed to upgrade these old facilities like they have in other parks. Thats where the staff here excells, making the best of what they have to offer you, making it still a great camping experience. Nice beach area, but too bad it's on Lake Erie (yuck). There are some excellent water sites, and most sites are seperated by trees/brush. We camped at Wheatley Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.

One of the best Provincial Parks I have been to. Not a great beach, but I don't go for the beach. $5 for kindling and $7 for bag of wood.

Fresh water fill up at dump station. We camped at Wheatley Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.

We visited Wheatley Provincial Park during the Monarch Butterfly migration south from Point Pelee. That was really cool. Wheatley P.P. was very busy, so book early. The Park was very clean and the staff was helpful. Our site was in the Middle Creek campground and the sites were spacious for our 24' trailer, and were wooded enough for some privacy.

They have some nice walking trails, down to the beach. We would go back. Oh and there is a public 9 hole course, just outside the Park. Next time we will take our clubs. We camped at Wheatley Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Point Pelee National Park is nearby. It is a "must" visit. Lots of walking and biking trails. Bike rentals, I think. Canoe and Kayak rentals for sure. Small city of Leamington has lots of stores for shopping and good restaurants for dining, while in town. The ferry leaves here for Pelee Island.

Very nice Provincial Park in Ontario. We had a very private level grassy site surrounded by bushes and trees. 30A electricity and water with a sewer at the entrance to the park. We especially enjoyed the trails around the lakes and down to the beach. There are picnic areas on the beach also. The road into the campsite area is a bit narrow but quite manageable. We would definitely stay again. We camped at Wheatley Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

We look forward to the Canadian Thanksgiving and spending the weekend with our children and grandchildren. On the Thanksgiving weekend the park holds a Halloween trick or treat and every campsite and get involved from decorating their sites to giving out candy. You don't have to but if you do they give you an orange ribbon. Saturday night is the trick or treating and then Sunday we have our Thanksgiving dinner, what a lovely way to spend the last of our camping days for the season. Hope to do it again this year, been going for over 10 years now, and now we even have more family and friends that come along, but book early or you won't get a site. :) We camped at Wheatley Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Wheatley is a tidy, well-maintained 600 acre provincial park divided into four main campgrounds. We started out this summer camping in the Highlands where the lots are generally spacious, private, grassy, with little shade. The roads are very good. Many sites have 30 amp power pedestals, and there are water taps throughout the park (but not at each site). We now camp in more woodsy radio-free Boosey Creek where the sites are non-powered and more popular with quiet tent campers. Enforcement is handled by MNR conservation officers and security guards who are highly visible and do frequent mobile and foot patrols. They nip problems in the bud and generally don't wait for the phone to ring first. Each campground has its own comfort station with clean toilets and showers. Some comfort stations have a laundromat. There are also vault toilets and port-johns throughout the park. If you forget something, the camp store in the main office will probably have it. While they don't have everything from soup to nuts, they do have things like can openers, firewood, books, sweaters, snack food, etc. All the basics. The mile long beach has some sheltered picnic areas and a beautiful vista of the lake. Our experiences at Wheatley have been generally very positive - not perfect, but if there is a problem the staff is there for you and takes care of it. We go back almost every weekend and always look forward to it. We camped at Wheatley Provincial Park in a Tent Trailer.
