September 18,19 Mew Lake Campground, off route 60, Algonquin Provincial Park - Ontario, Canada, 131 sites, $56 with electric, bathhouse with showers, dump station for all campgrounds .6 km away, water spigots not many in park, recycling, small beach, few sites on lake This is one of the largest campgrounds in Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada along route 60 which goes through the park. The park is huge with some of the best trail systems and canoeing in the country. It is the oldest and most famous Provincial Park. Over 7,00 square km of forests, bogs, lakes and rivers. There is a bike trail that goes through this campground to Two Lakes Store and then out to Coon Lake over twelve miles away. It is on hard packed gravel but parts of it are sandy and soft. There are three sections to this campground, an electric section where most can be reserved. It was full when we were there so reservations are needed. There is another section with no hookups near the highway and the last section sites 95-131 is pet free and no cd players, radios, TV's, generators etc. The beach is small but there are a few sites right along the lake. Showers are individuals stalls and while we were there closed from 8 pm to 8am because of a water shortage. Our site was huge but it was a mess when we pulled in - papers all over the site and food thrown into the pit. Bears have been spotted in the campground. Other campers have told us that Mew Lake is one of their favorite spots to camp in Algonquin. We camped at Algonquin Provincial Park - Mew Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice campground. Our site was large, level and right next to the lake. Beautiful lake view! Easy to back into. We camped early May, so the water taps were not on, yet. You had to fill up fresh water at the dump station, which was 5 miles down the road, so bring a fair amount of fresh water with you if you go this early. Cold at night; used our furnace every night. But NO BUGS! (mosquitoes just starting 2nd week May). Highly recommend! We camped at Algonquin Provincial Park - Mew Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Hiking trails are fabulous. We did Big Pine Trail, and Beaver Pond Trail. Rented a canoe, and paddled Whitefish Lake for a couple hours. So peaceful and quiet at this time of year. Go to visitor center and have their Poutine fries. Delicious!

An enjoyable stay in real nature. We had a very private clean site. Waterfront with a beautiful view. Fishing was good and the Park staff were extremely helpful. I would recommend to people who do not want to be crowded. We camped at Algonquin Provincial Park - Mew Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Wooded sites, well spaced, easy access with our motorhome. Centrally located in the park. Your entertainment is the park, not the campground, We saw moose on the Side of the road. This campground s perfect for the old railroad bicycle trail, which we enjoyed. A great choice if visiting the park. Friendly staff. No WiFi. We spent New Years Eve and Day in our motorhome. Was always my favorite camping place as a teen. Now as a mom it is still an awesome camping place even in the winter. The warden every night lit a nice bonfire for all guests to enjoy beside the hockey rink. The washrooms were very clean and shower nice and hot! Just be careful of low lying branches due to weight of snow. Most sites were nicely plowed for access with picnic tables. Just bring a snow brush! We camped at Algonquin Provincial Park - Mew Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Wilderness camping in Algonquin park is a pleasure. The sites are natural, with good drainage, so even setting up in the rain is possible. If you have a footprint for your tent, it is enough to keep the water from inundating the tent. When camping in a tent, by motorcycle, things like this are very important. There were clean washrooms, with showers, and water available for drinking, and it was good to drink. I give this one a bunch of stars. We camped at Algonquin Provincial Park - Mew Lake Campground in a Tent.

The good: scenic park, with fairly large sites and good roads. Lakefront sites available if you book far enough in advance, or go off-season. Lots of hiking; open year-round. The bad: hideously overpriced for electric-only sites. This was the most expensive park (by far) that I've stayed in all year. We camped at Algonquin Provincial Park - Mew Lake Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a great park for canoeing, the rail trail for biking is about a 2 km bike ride away. The Wi-Fi is available at the Visitors Center about 8 miles away, it is very slow. There are only a few sites available for big rigs, reserve early or you won't get in. We camped at Algonquin Provincial Park - Mew Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

I camped for 4 nights in the electric serviced sites portion of the campground. Sites are flat and sandy. I only had to adjust the tongue jack, TT was level side to side. Some sites don't have a lot of privacy, but not as "open" as it is at Lake of Two Rivers campground. Comfort station was clean. Short ride or hike to the Old Railway Bike Trail and Track and Tower hiking trail. We camped at Algonquin Provincial Park - Mew Lake Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the ease of access to the campground and the sites for our large motorhome - the sites are huge and quite private. The campground is well maintained with new and clean facilities and of course offers all that Algonquin is famous for - hiking, swimming, scenery, canoing, relaxation etc. Don't forget to bring in everything you're going to need, there is a small store nearby but for groceries and most essentials the drive would be about 50km. We camped at Algonquin Provincial Park - Mew Lake Campground in a Motorhome.
