We were looking for a campground that would be central to Algonquin Park. We're self-contained and don't use the facilities except for an occasional shower. We visited in late May (after the long weekend) in our 8 meter (25 foot) motor home. Note that Lake of Two Rivers and Mews Lake Campground are 1 km (1/2 mi) apart. We stayed at lake of Two Rivers CG. This is a very nice campground, very convenient to the attractions along route 60 through the park. Although the sites are situated among tall pines without much greenery, they are relatively large allowing for some privacy. Some sites would require an extension cord to plug in due to size. Most sites are mostly shaded and are level or require minor leveling. Some sites have lake views. The push-button showers were clean with ample water pressure and hot water. Our ATT and Verizon phone had good voice and data coverage while roaming on Bell. Mews Lake Campground is approximately 1 km (1/2 mi) away on a path and is very similar to Lake of Two Rivers. We camped at Algonquin Provincial Park - Mew Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

September 18,19 Mew Lake Campground, off route 60, Algonquin Provincial Park - Ontario, Canada, 131 sites, $56 with electric, bathhouse with showers, dump station for all campgrounds .6 km away, water spigots not many in park, recycling, small beach, few sites on lake This is one of the largest campgrounds in Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada along route 60 which goes through the park. The park is huge with some of the best trail systems and canoeing in the country. It is the oldest and most famous Provincial Park. Over 7,00 square km of forests, bogs, lakes and rivers. There is a bike trail that goes through this campground to Two Lakes Store and then out to Coon Lake over twelve miles away. It is on hard packed gravel but parts of it are sandy and soft. There are three sections to this campground, an electric section where most can be reserved. It was full when we were there so reservations are needed. There is another section with no hookups near the highway and the last section sites 95-131 is pet free and no cd players, radios, TV's, generators etc. The beach is small but there are a few sites right along the lake. Showers are individuals stalls and while we were there closed from 8 pm to 8am because of a water shortage. Our site was huge but it was a mess when we pulled in - papers all over the site and food thrown into the pit. Bears have been spotted in the campground. Other campers have told us that Mew Lake is one of their favorite spots to camp in Algonquin. We camped at Algonquin Provincial Park - Mew Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

We spent New Years Eve and Day in our motorhome. Was always my favorite camping place as a teen. Now as a mom it is still an awesome camping place even in the winter. The warden every night lit a nice bonfire for all guests to enjoy beside the hockey rink. The washrooms were very clean and shower nice and hot! Just be careful of low lying branches due to weight of snow. Most sites were nicely plowed for access with picnic tables. Just bring a snow brush! Overall Rating:

Wilderness camping in Algonquin park is a pleasure. The sites are natural, with good drainage, so even setting up in the rain is possible. If you have a footprint for your tent, it is enough to keep the water from inundating the tent. When camping in a tent, by motorcycle, things like this are very important. There were clean washrooms, with showers, and water available for drinking, and it was good to drink. I give this one a bunch of stars. We camped at Algonquin Provincial Park - Mew Lake Campground in a Tent.

This is a great park for canoeing, the rail trail for biking is about a 2 km bike ride away. The Wi-Fi is available at the Visitors Center about 8 miles away, it is very slow. There are only a few sites available for big rigs, reserve early or you won't get in. We camped at Algonquin Provincial Park - Mew Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We were very pleasantly surprised by the ease of access to the campground and the sites for our large motorhome - the sites are huge and quite private. The campground is well maintained with new and clean facilities and of course offers all that Algonquin is famous for - hiking, swimming, scenery, canoing, relaxation etc. Don't forget to bring in everything you're going to need, there is a small store nearby but for groceries and most essentials the drive would be about 50km. We camped at Algonquin Provincial Park - Mew Lake Campground in a Motorhome.
