We have camped at Crane Prairie in the upper section three times now. It is truly beautiful up there with generous site sizes. This time, we camped with 21 other Airstreamers at a rally. I worked with a staff member from the resort for several months on this project. She could not have been more helpful and responsive. We had the entire upper section of 20 spots and one site was only for a tent that we had rented (it was mighty cold!). They brought us up two tables and also a big gas heater to help us stay warm. The store has supplies that we needed and several campers canoed or kayaked on the lovely lake. There is a list of rules and if people respect them, they will get along very well here - nothing crazy about the rules! Many of our campers said they would come back again on their own, after the rally, they liked the place so much. Now that's a good recommendation! We camped at Crane Prairie RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

It's about 25 minutes to drive to Sunriver where the closest stores and restaurants are. Bend is another 20 minutes or so beyond that. We came in off highway 58 through Oakridge. GPS is NOT helpful at least not for us. There is a map on the website that was most helpful.

We love this park! It's truly a campground with trees, rocks and wildlife rather than paved pads and grass. You get the real outdoors experience with the convenience of water, power and sewer hook-ups! But the listing for this park is wrong; it should be listed under the town of La Pine. And it's 24 miles west of La Pine in a beautiful but remote area so don't expect to run into town quickly if you forget something. Crane Prairie definitely caters to the fishing crowd and the lake is known for it's trophy "Cranebow" trout. This means the sites are very wide and well spaced so there is room for your RV and tow vehicle and even another vehicle and boat. One prior reviewer complained about the quality of the water but we didn't notice anything wrong with it so maybe this is a problem that has been fixed. Cell service is a bit spotty. My AT&T only worked by the boat ramp but our TracPhone worked fine at the campsite. There is only one plumbed restroom and a separate shower house/laundry in the park so plan to use the facilities in your RV. The shower requires LOTS of quarters and is really used by campers in the forest service campground next door. The store is minimally stocked with food and mostly sells fishing tackle. You can also rent boats there or arrange to keep your boat in their marina during your stay. They do have a fairly restrictive cancellation policy so make sure you are firm on your reservations at least two weeks ahead of time. We will definitely go back to Crane Prairie Resort. Tips for other Campers:

Crane Prairie is one of several lakes along the Cascade Lakes loop road. There are great hiking opportunities in the area and several secondary roads that are great for bicycling. South Twin Lake and Cultis Lake both have resorts with small restaurants.

This campground is more of a fishing resort. It is woodsy which I liked; however, the site we were in was narrow. My biggest complaint was the drinking water! It smelled and tasted very bad! We even filtered it three times! To bathe in it it, left you smelly. The laundry only had cold water and of course the water made the clothes smelly. The lake was very beautiful with the Three Sisters mountains in the back ground. We camped at Crane Prairie RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

First, this park is not in Bend. It is about 37 miles SW of Bend. Do not trust your GPS. Use their directions. This is not an RV resort, but it is a very nice campground. Our site backed up to the lake where we saw bald eagles and osprey. You can see snow covered mountains too. We couldn't stay the entire month we booked unfortunately because their power was not reliable. We did have LTE Verizon coverage in our spot which really surprised us for the location. I don't think all spots were this fortunate. We work from our rig, so this is important to us along with power. The owner told us the power was installed 35 years ago and couldn't confirm its reliability, so we had to leave after two nights unfortunately. On check-in, we weren't charged the $1 fee, and the balance was refunded when we had to leave early. The store and surrounding grounds were in tip top shape. If you do stay at this campground, you would be wise to have a power monitoring system on your rig. We would consider returning. It's a great location. You are remote, so just be prepared for it. It reminded me of places we'd tent and popup camped in the past. It had that vibe. We camped at Crane Prairie RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Agree with previous reviews. We wanted to advise people that there are no refunds less than 2 weeks prior to your visit...that seems kind of hard nosed. The resort does not take credit cards unless they take an extra $1.00 from you for the service and they do not take checks. There is a good Wi-Fi hot spot at the store. This is essentially a forest service type of spot with hookups. It has many trees, is a short walk to the lake and has boats to rent. The owners are very nice. I believe they can fit any size rig into most spaces. We camped at Crane Prairie RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This is an RV park that looks like a National Forest Site. It has bathrooms with flush toilets and pay showers that are very, very old. We did not use them. There are only a few toilets for the entire campground. If you go, be prepared to use your own RV instead. The campground is very beautiful, quiet and very close to the lake. Many hikes, biking, fishing, etc. Beautiful area. The campground charges too much for what you get...but it is not as crowded as other RV parks in the area: Lava Lake, Twin Lakes, etc. We camped at Crane Prairie RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a terrific RV resort nestled in the pines of Central Oregon. It feels more like a campground, but has the amenities of an RV park (actually better than most RV parks). Our site backed up to the lake (about 50 yards away). The view through the trees to the lake was excellent. We had deer in our campsite most days. The lodge and resort help are terrific. I will definitely stay here again. We camped at Crane Prairie RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
