We really liked this park! First of all, we could pre-register online and print out your forms, so that checking in is self-serve, all very neat and quick. The sites are so large compared to your typical private campground! Our site was very level, although not shady. We were here over a weekend, and although the park was fairly full all was quiet. Our Verizon service was excellent for voice and wi-fi. Our only complaint was that the water pressure was rather low. But we would definitely come back here again. We camped at L.L. Stub Stewart Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.

We have stayed here several times before and always have liked it. This time we were in the lower campground #5 and it was fine. Great bike trail and we rode it several times. The only issue/concern was the water pressure seemed a bit low...otherwise great SP. Verizon LTE 2 bars worked fine. We were able to put up our Direct TV satellite up and got a good signal... We camped at L.L. Stub Stewart Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.

This was the first time I've visited in many years. The basics haven't changed except for the addition of many more trails. Hookups are in good condition and the water is excellent. Many (but not most) sites have shade in either the morning or afternoon. Satellite reception should be clear from most sites, but OTA is doubtful. Very quiet campground with large sites makes for a peaceful stay. I'll be returning often. We camped at L.L. Stub Stewart Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for a short one night trip as part of a Free Camping day at Oregon State Parks. This is Oregon's newest state park and it's gorgeous. Sites were nicely laid out and had some separation as well as bushes that provide some level of privacy. They have an 18-hole disc golf course. We'll be back for a longer stay in August for the Eclipse! We camped at L.L. Stub Stewart Memorial State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice state park located 30 miles NW of Portland. All sites are backin with full hookups and 20/30/50 amps. Sites are large enough for an RV and tent and have a picnic table and fire ring. The bath houses are clean and modern. There are two RV campgrounds. Dairy Creek East is built around an open meadow which is good for star gazing and has a playground. Dairy Creek West sites have more trees and are a little more private. There is also a separate tent camping area, a walk-in campground, horse campground, and a cabin village. There are many miles of well maintained trails and a 20 mile Banks-Vernonia paved bike path. The hosts and park rangers were friendly and helpful. We camped at L.L. Stub Stewart Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.

Excellent Oregon State Park. About 50 miles from the Oregon coast. 35 miles to Portland. Well maintained. Three different loops. Two for regular sites and one for horse camping. All loops have some FHUs. We camped at L.L. Stub Stewart Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.

Hidden gem! Large secluded sites in the Dairy Creek West loop. Full hookups in the middle of a forest! Lots of neat local trails to hike. Quiet at night. We will return next year and stay at least 3 days to explore the local area and trails. Dairy creek west loop more shaded, kids playground in the newer "east" campground and shade trees not as mature, but there are some quite large spots in the east campground. We camped at L.L. Stub Stewart Memorial State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We have stayed her twice, 2013 & 2015. The park is very well maintained, quiet and beautiful. This year we have seen a group of five deer in the meadow adjacent to our site and then within 10 feet of our Motorhome. The hiking and biking here are great and include paved paths through very challenging mountain bike trails. Sites are generally flat and include full hookups. We camped at L.L. Stub Stewart Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.

I can't complain much about this state park campground. The price is slightly on the higher end than I'm used to for state parks, but you get FHU so it was a wash. The sites are spread out decently and if you stick to the inside of the Dairy Creek West loop, you'll probably get a shady spot or at least more privacy foliage between you and your neighbor. There was a fire ring and picnic table provided at each site, and they keep the sites clean and tidy between guests. Firewood bundles were $5, pretty reasonable compared to most places that sell firewood. We have to work online, so our biggest concern is Verizon LTE data coverage, and this park gets a strong signal. We camped at L.L. Stub Stewart Memorial State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Shopping is a bit far from here, either Vernonia or Forest Grove, so best to come fully stocked with your groceries. I needed to make an emergency laundromat run, and found a quiet little affordable place in Banks on the main street. Gas and propane are available on the highway close to the exit.

As usual, the Oregon Park system didn't let us down! We stayed here 3 nights while attending a molded fiberglass trailer rally. There are two loops for general camping, Dairy Creek East and Dairy Creek West. The east loop is set in a meadow and is open and sunny. The west loop is set among the evergreen trees and would have more shade in the summer but maybe be a little gloomy in the winter. The park also offers a horse camp area, rental cabins, and a group camp area. There are two reservable shelters for group potlucks and the like. Our rally group used the shelter in the Hilltop Day-use Area for a get together. This shelter is roofed but not inclosed. I believe the other shelter is enclosed and has a large fireplace, but I didn't get to see it to confirm that.

About the only negative that I can think of for this park is that we had to make our way from I-5 west through Portland to get there! We camped at L.L. Stub Stewart Memorial State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There are tons of trails in the park for hiking or mountain biking, as well as a disk golf course. The 20 mile Banks-Vernonia State Trail runs through the park and is great for both bicyclists and pedestrians. the little town of Vernonia, about 10 miles from the park, has some good restaurants and a grocery store.

Helpful and friendly rangers, decent spacing between spots, long enough for a 45 foot motorhome. Most of the sites are for smaller units but there are a handful for larger ones. We preferred the west side to the east side. The east side is pretty Plain Jane - more like a parking lot. The west side has more trees and seemed homier. Strong Verizon signal. (BTW - you lose the signal on the drive in but it is strong in the park.) Awesome that a state park has full hookups! We noticed that each spot gets cleaned and raked when people leave. Very nice! Gets busy on the weekend but was very quiet during the week. Only complaint is the occasional compression brakes from trucks passing by on Nehalem Hwy. About 30 minutes from Portland so easy access. If they added WII FI we'd rate it a 10! We camped at L.L. Stub Stewart Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.

$31 per night (plus $8 for doing an online reservation) was for a large level gravel pad site with full hookups, picnic table, and fire ring. Some sites have shade at some point during the day while others are in full sun. This campground is located 34 miles NW of Portland and is out in the country where it’s quiet but near enough to shopping/dining. This is bicycle country so there are many miles of trails for riding/ walking/hiking. This campground was built in 2007 and was well planned to offer most anything campers require. AT&T cell service was five bars 4G. Our Milliencom jetpack was getting four bars of 4G LTE which was great for internet access. No OTA TV. We camped at L.L. Stub Stewart Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.

One of the nicest state parks we've ever stayed in! Sites are huge, gravel, level, and spaced very far apart. The full hook ups are located perfectly and performed well. Some sections are forested and very shady. Others are open and sunny. Our favorite site was #49, where we received the warm morning sun and cool afternoon shade. Our roof-mounted satellite dish worked extremely well, as did our Verizon cell and hot spot service. Camp hosts are very friendly and helpful. Area is very quiet, with miles and miles of hiking trails. Only 30 miles from Portland on Hwy 26, but truly a world away! We have already booked our next stay. We camped at L.L. Stub Stewart Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.
